It's so cool that you're still making content, Jody. I've commented before but I literally went from absolutely zero welding experience, to buying a TIG welder and sitting down with your youtube videos. I now own a performance automotive shop where I regularly build stainless and titanium intakes, exhausts, and turbo manifolds, along with certified chromoly cages. I can't thank you enough, and I'm always happy to support you when I order supplies 👍

It’s crazy to think I used to watch some of your videos 10 years ago when I was in high school in welding class. I graduated and joined the marine corps, got out recently and now I’ve been watching a lot of your videos again lately because I’m awaiting to start welding school. The more I know, the better.

I remember around 2012, 2013 time frame. The beginning tig, mig, and stick series that you put out that helped me get through welding school. I really enjoyed the technical side, along with keeping it basic enough for me to understand when I was learning. It was the perfect mixture of metallurgy and practicality for me as a student.
Thank you once again for your continuous help.

Good evening, Jody!!! pardon me, i meant Mr. Collier
just wanted to tell you that i'm very thankful for your videos and effort you're putting up.
i've been watching your videos for quite a while, and they've helped me a lot.
so much so that i passed the welding test at the start of the month... and i am now licensed to weld professionally
position PH and HLO45 on carb steel and stainless tubing to be exact, so again thanks
    best regards

10:33 - the spool gun was always broken or not working correctly when i was in school. I wish i could have learned it and got my certification with it.
I've been watching Mr Jody since welding school in 2011. Videos like this helped me a lot back then💪🏆

I've done a lot of stick projects and was used to the weld distortion. The other day I did a mig project and was surprised that the distortion was different(welding 90's). When you start a project you think welding is welding until it surprises you.

Jody can you do a video talking about filler rod size vs material thickness?

How about plasma weld. I got lucky with an ultima 150 .
Got all the accessort for.manual use. It Doesn't do alu. But it welds the rest very well.

I messed up and missed out in welding school by not collecting your videos. I completed my program in 2012-2013 and I still learn from you. Got the CK mt200 from weldmonger a few years back and though I don't use it much when I do it gets the job done. Occasionally work for an aerial farmer and hanging around those air tractors makes me interested in aerospace welding all the more. So far I've worked aluminum, brass, carbon, chromoly, and copper. I'm always interested in building up my skill level and my curiosity always brings me to your channel. Thanks for all your contributions to the field!

How do you ground you aluminum while welding on the fixture table with grounding straight to the part?

What weld would be best to build a heavy trailer, like 14k load capacity? I have a 120 volt Lincoln and 240 volt Hobart Mig and a 200 amp Lincoln Tig, which I can stick weld with, too.
Would 240 v mig be ok?

A true professional would never use anything but solid wire unless they are doing outside work. Absolutely none of the professional shops I work with use flux core or dual shield. When wind is a factor, solid wire is an absolute no go. You also can not weld pressure vessels with flux or dual shield. Years back I was involved in some weld testing using multiple processes and solid wire and gas and TIG were the best welds by far. Stick was next, dual shield was almost last, flux core wire was worst. Health is for myself the biggest concern, next is weld strength, then cost. Solid wire and gas actually have the lowest cost for me, the dual shield I do run, is by far the most expensive at almost 3 times the cost. Flux core just isn't worth using in any case. My personal opinion and first hand experience. Again, I am not trying to be a jerk either, I just don't understand how other "professionals" could use the stuff given the health concerns.
disclaimer - This is not my personal comment, rather that of another YT creator with whom I take exception
