There are 3 departments in Merchant navy :
1)Deck :- Trainee OS & Deck cadet
2)Engine :- Trainee Wiper & Engine cadet
3)Galley :- Trainee GS . If you have hotel management certificate & pre-sea training certificate then you can join as a 2nd cook and then get further promotion. But again I am saying depends on company.
