That "banana" mode on the knife is for easier draw cuts like if you need more pressure and are dragging it across something such as carpet or cardboard.
Been using the blue Thunderbolt batteries for like 2 years. They last about the same as Duracell (which I used to use) and output is the same. Great deals to be had on those batteries all the time!
Thanks for your excellent no BS reviews! I just got back from HF parking lot sale and picked up the pack of blue batteries, and the ICON locking mini-ratchet set for $25! Awesome little set (even though some of the comments suggest a newer version is coming out)!
I need to make a correction about that. The one in the ad isn't too bad, it's a typical folding utility knife. The one on sale is sku: 62358. I can't even find the one I showed in the video.
Good cart, but you'll hate the hardware. Rivet or weld it together. Love gloves textured for her pleasure. I got the same chrome handle icon; i hate the plastic for grease. I got the little ratchet, boy was I pissed when I found it was locking and no other HF ratchets have that feature.
They are introducing new icon ratchets soon so they are trying to get rid of their current ratchets, hence the huge sale. Once the sale is gone, tons of people will have those ratchets, increasing their market share. This will help them sell off the rest of the ratchets at regular price, probably.
The ratchet is nice and sll, but gearwrench makes a better one. Eventually that passthrough fails and no longer locks on 1/4 bits. The warranty is accepted, but I don’t feel like going back to the store every 2 months.
From what im hearing, they're offering 40% off because they're trying to clear them out to make way for updated models coming next year. Expect another 1 or 2 really good icon hand tools sales in the coming months, probably Black Friday and sometime in January.
The batteries depend on usage. I use the yellow alkaline ones in TV remotes and a couple analog atomic wall clocks. Works fine for those purposes. It's not what you want to reach for on high drain devices. I won't use the cheaper zinc batteries from any manufacturer.
I replaced my Chinese “Craftsman” 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drives with the Chinese Icons. Could not pass up the 40% off. 🤣 Their use (albeit minor) has been seamless thus far.
The Icon are made in Taiwan by Apex just like pretty much every other better brand out there including Matco, Cornwell etc. The Icon 1:1 mimic the Snap-On to give you the features while being just as strong in every test video I've seen. They're better than the Craftsman of yesteryear and miles better than the Chinese junk they put out now.
I haven't seen them actually in the parking lot for about 5 years. I remember they'd pull out the big white tents and go all out. If we get better deals because they don't have to put on a show then I'm all for having it indoors!
Just an FYI, the reason they have the majority of icon items at a high % off is because the stores are trying to get rid of stock because the new designs are going to be released in early 2025. I don't know what they new ones will be, more teeth? Better greasing? Better materials? Who knows. But its new stock is coming soon.
Thats why I waited. Flash sales like that nationwide can only mean they are making room for new stuff. Everyone that went out and lost their minds over this sale may have some regrets next year
@Spurphy if the new model has a higher price, you still pay the difference. I personally only got the wrench sets and even if they upgrade them i won't bother trading them in unless they actually need to.
@nostrasimpus8359 I agree for the rachets, but I'm not 100% that way for the wrench sets. Either way 2025 is going to be a big year for harbor fright according to some inside leaked info I've seen.
If anyone is interested in the 3-ton jack Daytona jack stands, you might want to open them up in the store and make sure the jack stand pad cover (sold separately) fits. I bought two pairs this week - one from the normally stocked area and one pair from the promotional stack-out in the front of the store. Although labeled identically, the ones from the promotional area had smaller saddles and were smaller in other areas as well. Definitely inferior. The 3-ton pads I bought separately were too large to fit the ones in the promotional pile, but fit snugly on the ones from the normal jackstand area of the store. I found this a bit disturbing.
Alkaline batteries are alkaline batteries. Tons of test and not much difference between cheap and expensive. The only thing I have noticed is that the expensive ones tend to last longer before the cases corrode through but that is just my subjective opinion.
The cheap heavy duty batteries suck manufacturers doesn't matter but generally the cheapest alkaline batteries ar the best deal but those blue ones are some of the best i tested you just need to know what you are looking at and talking about before you call alkaline batteries bad because you tried some cheaper crappy ones
When I lived on the farm, I had both Craftsman and HF Pittsburg and used them on a mid sized tractor and similar items. I found that the Pittsburg were just a reliable and sturdy as the Craftsman and much cheaper.
@@dj3114 buy craftsman was meant as a joke, which is what craftsman tools are now. They used to be great at one time. Absolutely love harbor freight tools, just reacting to the "expensive" comment.
Next sale is the beginning of OCT!
Sweet! I missed the Sept. Sale.... 😢
That "banana" mode on the knife is for easier draw cuts like if you need more pressure and are dragging it across something such as carpet or cardboard.
Oh ok
Great info, thanks!
When I read this I was reminded of when I laid carpet for 2 weeks out of high school. They had knives like that!
Been using the blue Thunderbolt batteries for like 2 years. They last about the same as Duracell (which I used to use) and output is the same. Great deals to be had on those batteries all the time!
That Icon flex head ratchet has saved me grief several times. Great tool.
Right on!
the small ratchet is killer, picked one up new at a flea market for $20 and ive already used it dozens of times. a must have for the tool cart.
Score!
This channel just keeps getting better...thanks for the content!
Thanks GaryT!

Right on, thanks Ted!

If you missed this one there is another in just a couple week. ITC members will get early access.

Right on!
I have the welding cart it works fine for me. Good video
Right on.......I now have 3!
I really like that mini ratchet set. Problem is I don't use it much. It's a very nice cool set but I don't get much use out of it
Right on!
Love the Gordon knife and mine opens fully right away. Went back and bought another one it works so well.
I need to make a correction about that. The one in the ad isn't too bad, it's a typical folding utility knife. The one on sale is sku: 62358.
I can't even find the one I showed in the video.
@@-DIYPRO- ahh gotcha, that makes sense!
Picked up two more of the ICON Bit Ratchet sets when they were on sale Super Discounted last month - great to have one in every vehicle or for a gift.
I actually have that lil socket/bit set. Paid full price. bought it for work. Works great. Nice lil set
Still worth it!

@@-DIYPRO- Thanks Much!
Yesterday made my third day in a row going there. Looks like today may make it four.
I know, I went back yet again!
You know you've been there a bunch when they know your name!
My wife refers to HF as “the other woman”
You sound exactly like the guy from Project Farm!
I can't hear it but lots of people say that so i guess I don't sound the same to others as to myself! Regardless, I'll take it!

For sure, wondering how big of changes they made to the new models.
The ratchet is nice and sll, but gearwrench makes a better one. Eventually that passthrough fails and no longer locks on 1/4 bits. The warranty is accepted, but I don’t feel like going back to the store every 2 months.
My boy has been using it non stop, I'll have to see how long it lasts!
I'm waiting for the badlands Jack to go on sale
Those are looking pretty sweet!

So you saying I'll be buying even more!
I made a mistake and bought a bunch of those crappy batteries during the last sale. They are only useful for small pen lights
Been there, haha!
Just get the Kirkland brand of batteries at Costco. They are made by Duracell
I've used a bunch of those as well.
The batteries depend on usage. I use the yellow alkaline ones in TV remotes and a couple analog atomic wall clocks. Works fine for those purposes. It's not what you want to reach for on high drain devices. I won't use the cheaper zinc batteries from any manufacturer.
Well, I have 24 yellow! I guess my TV remotes are good for awhile!
Damn $25 for that icon set i may have to pick one up i just got the 3/8 flex head long handle ratchet
Right on!
Did you end up picking one up!

Yeah the blue thunderbolt are definitely better
I really like them too

10mm socket set. Clearly they know me, and I am not alone.

Obviously you don’t have any banana trees, if you did, you would understand its use.
