    The biceps arent used anything like a bicep curl when punching,its almost purely explosive isometric contraction

    You really should do chinups… its the antagonist of the uppercut…

      That’s a great idea! Let’s build and strengthen the muscles THAT ARE THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF A UPPERCUT SO WE CAN SLOW DOWN AND WEAKEN THE ACTUAL UPPERCUT! Lovely suggestion….. not!!!!

      You can’t. That’s paralysis over analysis. If you’re not a pro which full time is for boxing, you won’t have time to do all these.
      My advice: Skip weightlifting all together or limit it to once a week full body. You gotta decide it’s either muscles or boxing.

    Biceps curls are really bad, I tried it when i was doing Hypertrophy to gain weight but because of curls, My punches became slow and during shadow boxing I start feeling pain in the biceps, instead one should do chin ups, ever saw How Gymnast have such big arms, they do chin ups. One of my friend who was a bodybuilder and he started doing Gymnastics on rings and he pulled his biceps because of bicep curls he had no flexibility in biceps but when you do chin ups, the bicep muscles also stretch when go to the bottom position with full range of motion. That is why a lot of bodybuilding exercises are bad and they build unequal amount of muscles that you don't need and hinder your performance. Calisthenics, strongman exercises, Olympic weight lifting are way better than Bodybuilding.

      I used tot follow a hypertrophy bodybuilding workout before, switched most of my exercises to accomodate movements more. The only issue im having currently is the biceps. I do a heavy bodybuilfing bicep workout and tricep as well, and i as well do feel like it affects my performance and makes me stiff. Chinups are actully a lovely way to train your biceps as it allows your biceps to work with your entire body, while a bodybuilding bicep workout works the bicep seperately, therefore not making it functional and causing stiffness.

    I just had a full distal bicep rupture on my left arm. Unfortunately, almost exactly a year ago. I had one on my right arm as well. I opted for surgery on my right arm, but don’t believe I will be going to the surgical route this time. Not many people have been able to comment on past experience with athletes or themselves if nonsurgical has a huge detrimental on strength and punch power. Obviously I would lose supination and flexion but rehab and strengthening should still allow to be able to deliver somewhat powerful power none the less correct? I understand it’s not “medical advice” just opinion or experience

    • @GoodTimes_00
      @GoodTimes_00 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. If you are training other muscles then it is very important to train the back muscles. As they generate a lot of power.

  • @Cheeksbuster

    One question, is there a general rule for gaining muscle without losing speed? Like: Maximum load with few explosive reps and rest time in between the sets?

    • @charlieprince8671
      @charlieprince8671 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's generally not as much of an issue as people try to make it out to be. Unless you're not using full range of motion which messes with your elasticity or putting on huge amounts of mass, which is unlikely unless you're actually aiming for that, you're likely going to get faster from strength training. Speed is literally the ratio of explosive strength to mass.

    I'm a simple guy.
    I look at the greatest fighters of all time... Robinson, Greb, Charles, Louis.
    Then I look at whether or not they wasted time doing bicep curls.
    They didn't, so neither will I.
    Maybe a day a week of full body compound exercise training is fine; body weight exercises are also sufficient.
    This bodybuilder crap isn't for boxing.

      @BoxingScience I don't need to. It shouldn't be the main focus. If you are going to strengthen your arm muscles, particularly the biceps, it's best to do it with calisthenics and high rips with low weights to protect your joints.
