I saw this many years ago and I absolutely adore it. It's a movie that many people can relate to in some way. I wish Hollywood still made movies like this today. They would have no problem packing the theaters if they did.

I feel blessed I came across this in netflix. This movie is a diamond. I laughed and cried and then laughed and cried again. Anyone with a heart can relate to this movie somehow. The acting is wonderful. Bernice gave me shivers. This is not an action movie or a thriller. This is a cute. funny. romantic. sad movie about raw life

This movie has so many true to life experience scenarios that can make me cry like a baby.
I remember being 11 years old living in low income housing with my siblings & single mother. My friends were all from single parents households (apartments) & my friends mother rented this & all the moms got together at her place one evening, all the kids at our place (they were right next to each other) they ordered us pizza & we watched tgi Friday kids shows as our moms all gathered for a glass of wine & to watch this film (on VHS) when it came out. That was a really fun memory & a really good night in a darker period of my life. It's seared into my memory.
Whoever keeps talking bad about this movie obviously don't know a good movie when they see it. This is something that could happen to anyone man or woman so its a relatable movie to actual life. Other movies out there are so fake so chessy. This movie absolutely touched my soul. Sandra Bullock is an awesome actress. I'm waiting for a part two how Sandra and Harry connick end up together. I can't wait for a part two Sandra Bullock I will buy it. I love it. And to those who talk crap Shut up
This movie was so sad, he's so stupid for cheating on her. But she' ends up with a great guy she deserved it. I couldn't stop crying. Very good movie. Sandra is an awesome actress

Speed was like my favorite movie growing up and it was weird because I never liked action movies much. I never really knew who Sandra was before speed and wasnt a fan, but then I saw Hope Flaots and I was fan and became an even bigger fan when I saw Miss Congeniality 1 and 2. Now I cant get enough of Sandra. I have seen amost all of her movies. She is just an awsome talent to me.

@bunny1242 I agree with you about the girl. I hated that she blamed her mother for her father leaving and yelled at her that she should have loved him better. Why is it that the victims are blamed in infidelity and not the culprit in the eyes of kids?
I adore this movie! My favorite part was the girl's trouble with the separation, though... it was the most heart-touching part of the wonderful movie. I'm surprised it's not touched upon in the trailer!
One of my favorite movies of all time.
Yeah, her dancing with her Alzheimer father while "Chances Are" played in the background was a tearjerker. Also the scene where Bernice broke down as her dad drove away and left her behind. And the scene where Birdie was dressing for her mom's memorial service and broke down when she went through her mom's closet to pick out a dress, and her mom's scent was still there. One of the most poignant movies I've seen, even though I'm a guy and this is basically a chick flick.
I love the dance with her Father in the nursing home - made me cry.

How did I get here? I was watching a video from some TV show where Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock were in. Someone mentioned MILF so I checked on Wikipedia if SB was actually a mother (1 adopted child) and ended up with several movie titles (The Heat, Gravity, and this one)!

1. I don’t like how she got her heart broken and was expected to bounce back so quick. The ex husband told her to to basically suck it up and focus on the child . The mother was forcing her into a new relationship without healing or time. The Justin guy was pushy too like my goodness lady was married not even 6 months ago.
2. Her daughter would have been punished, even though she’s also going through a lot she needed to know respect for her mom and strangers. Express it definitely and let her truthfully know dad is only coming back for you never me but I’ll be okay
