This restores my soul. Ever since I saw Edward Norton in the gorgeous movie The Painted Veil I've wanted to see the mountainous beauty of China. I remember how China's cities were thick with pollution and smog, now entire cities have only EV buses and cars. I want to see what the US is doing because currently with less arable land and potable water, China is producing more food than the US.

If a country has only tens of millions of people or less, it will not cost much to subsidize the people. But a country with 1.4 billion people will spend a lot of money on government subsidies. However, the Chinese government rarely sends money directly to the people. They usually send chickens, piggy, saplings and seeds to poor farmers and guarantee to purchase these agricultural products to make them rich through their own labor. This is a sustainable virtuous circle.
There is an old Chinese saying:授人以鱼不如授人以渔( teach a man how to fish rather than give him a fish)
