Hey, I am all the way from Bangladesh 🇧🇩. I am 13 years old, I love your videos. I will start breeding Bengali/Society finches for some pocket money. I want to give them soak seeds to them 2-4 times a week. Is that enough and is this seed mix ok for finches? Also what seeds did you put in the soak seed mix and how much? Is there anything else I can or should add to it to make it better? Please reply.
Do you have the link for those on amazon. I was looking not sure which 1. Also i use cider vingear in my soak seed i feel its more natural and works the same as the bleach
Hi, Matt, fantastic explanation!!! I stopped doing soak seed years ago because of a fungal infection, but I know that soak seed is the top food for the breeding season. I would like to know what's the difference between the Dr.Johnson's sterilising fluid and regular bleach, and why would Dr.Johnson's fluid be better than regular bleach? Thank you in advanced. Your videos are incredibly interesting.
Thanks for the kind words I'm really glad you're enjoying the videos. For me the sterilising fluid is more gentle these bleach as it's primary design is obviously to clean baby products so it's more suitable for birds
This is just regular bleach - sodium hypochlorite with some sodium hydroxide. Only the marketing pitch is different, to persuade people to pay more for a watered-down version of an already very cheap material. Though being more dilute, perhaps it's easier to dose in small amounts.
Hi there I cant seem to find the one you are talking about I'm located in california and the sellers on Amazon dont specify how many parts it comes in can you help out.
just watched your video would this be the same process for budgies etc . i am a little bit worried about the water going stale ,also how many times should you possible wash it to get of the stale water off it
How do you use the sterilizing fluid. Do you rinse them with it or soak them in it ....how...! As I often sprout seeds for my birds, but didn’t know about the sterilizing fluid..
I usually make enough up for a day at a time, it will last a couple of days if refrigerated but be sure to run another lot of sterilising fluid through to make sure there's no bacteria
Outstanding clip Matt, thanks!
Just watched your video on soak seeds and have ordered what you showed so going to give it a try..
Had no idea this is good. Time for more learning thank you!!

Just look up sanitising water with bleach and you'll find amounts of drops per strength of bleach to use. Works great!

Can braggs organic apple cider vinegar be substituted for the Dr. Johnson’s ? If so, how much should be used?
Thank you

I don’t Helen, the dr Johnson’s is a brand name for sterilising fluid, I use that to kill off any bacteria
