As someone who was 6 years old when LOB came out, and someone who hasn’t opened LOB since like 2004, the nostalgia kick from this is going to be absolutely insane
@@marihuana4443 that do be true, I expected the old looking vintage cards but oh welp, since i was 6 years old as well back when they were released id like to open some
Man, i recently found myself collecting Pokémon , and I started getting back into yugioh as well, but I had no idea a 25 year set was being released I picked the perfect time to fall back in love with yugioh ! Thank you for the video !
So insanely nostalgic! Can’t believe it’s been 25 years of such an iconic and incredible series that’s brought us so much joy. Excited to see where we go from here 💕
We are going bad, the game is a mess, unplayble. A turn will last forever. The best decks are crazy expensive. The new cards and mechanics are crazy, their look is not even close to the old one. And the creator is sadly dead last year. So i'm not excited to see the death of the card game, i'm worried
I'm definitely a little torn about this product. The fact that they're in the new layout almost makes me want to collect them... But only because they're unique. I hate how they look haha. Thanks so much for opening these products!
Pretty sure it´s just copyright issues, that Konami is not using the old printing format, anymore for. Anyways, in my opinion on the one hand it is the complete right thing to use the new format. In general the 25th anniversary stuff makes it possible for newer/younger collector´s to afford opening those nostalgic packs, like we did years before (without the necessarity to sell their homes for it^^). But on the other hand they won´t completely crush the value of the original cards, because the new ones look so different.
The Time Wizard has taken us back to the Golden Age of Yu-Gi-Oh!! The nostalgia of these is just too much to handle. Seeing the old era celebrated with something like this, really brings out the kid in me
Charmers! Crystal Beasts! Legendary Duelist Joey, kaiba, yugi, then there's cyber dragons, chaos invasion, amazons, the millenium packs, and finally 25th anniversary rare with the first gen!! :D
The fact they printed these in the new way is very nice. Of course less nostalgiic but the og sets have been reprinted in the “1996 kazuki takahashi” style so often it really hurted the collective value of the old unlimited prints. Now you can easily tell these apart combining the nice og artworks with no hurting the feelings of die hard collectors
I think it helps to make an easy distinction on whether the cards are original print or not, so it helps with the collector's value of the original cards some. But it also shows just how things have changed over the years, for better or worse.
If you find success, please feel free to write a step by step guide for others in the same predicament and it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, sincerely your fellow helpless yugioh enthusiast
@@dripsonice413 the closest I got last time was by getting the Slifer and Obelisk decks because they're kinda modern but don't involve the extra deck and made a structure decks only rule for game night, it worked for a few weeks but fell off :(
@@LoonaJinx You gotta give staples out randomly to everyone that is using the structure decks to mix it up more and make those people want the staples to get them further addicted to YGO lol Like give out some nibiru to only 1 person and imperm to another etc
I'm 100% for the updated printing on the cards with the new holo foils, the last thing we needed was yet another exactly the same reprint of all these vintage cards. The new foils give you something to look forward to pull especially those cool looking secret rares. I do think that making the 25th edition promo cards have nearly the same exact holo foil as starlight rares was a huge L on Konami's part and if I owned any Starlight rare cards I would for sure be worried about Konami doing more prints of that holo foil.
I actually like the updated versions of the cards for this reprint. It gives them a unique look that makes the 25th a little more special than the others.
That Tri Horned Dragon is such a gorgeous card. I'm loving how these secret rares look a bit like the speed duel secret rares. Might not be everyones favorite, but I personally love the way Speed Duel secret rares. So I'm all for the slight change of appearance.
This is a hard pass from me, and I've been playing off and on since the beginning. They could have upped the pull rates and made the playable God cards.
Ever since they announced the 25th anniversary edition of Legendary Collection, I was hoping they'd have all the current errata on the cards, and the modern style in both frame and foil is a nice touch too, making it a distinctly different product from all the past legendary collections. One more thing I'd wish for this product tho, would be to have some of the cards in the sets have a chance at being pulled in quarter century rare to make opening them all the more exciting and worthwhile.
I still remember picking up LC01 binder edition when it released in November 2010, I still have the binder, plastic divider, and the empty packs from it. Definitely gonna pick at least 1 of these up for old times sake!
If you look at an English starlight and a Japanese Prismatic Secret rare there are slight differences, there are clear and sharp lines of the foiling pattern on OCG prismatic secrets. So these quarter century rares look to be the same as OCG Prismatic Secrets
This makes me really excited. I am just returning to the YuGiOh world after over 20 years and seeing all these packs again makes me really nostalgic. I happily remember when I first bought my Yugi Starter Deck to duel against my neighbor who had Kaiba's deck. Crazy to see that the game survived for so long and all the cards that have come out since. I definitely hope to get my hands on one of these 25th anniversary boxes!
I’ve been searching for this legacy packs ever since I got into yugioh two years ago, can’t wait to pull some nostalgic cards included, still can’t believe that I correctly guessed that the 2020 copyright text would be in the legacy packs!
I have a question (for Ruxin or anyone in the comments who may know) is there any reason that this set isn't showing up on websites like Amazon and Walmart? I've only been able to find it on retail sites like Target. Is that intentional, is it a limited release to only certain stores, or am I just looking too early? Thanks. Edit: Also want to mention I do not have any card shops nearby. The closest one is an hour away and I'd prefer to just buy it online if I can.
I am so excited for the one box I bought for myself to arrive. I never buy booster packs because it feels too much like gambling and I always buy singles. But I bought this one simply because I am so excited about the secret rares.
Was bummed at first about the use of the new layout. But I've actually come round to it - just means there's another set of reprints to collect if that's your jam
I like that they distinguished the reprints but imo should've maybe changed the set name up a bit instead of changing the look of the card. But all works out!
I'm so happy Konami did this. I had a rather large collection of the og cards that I gave away to a friend many years ago and I just got back into collecting last year. This 25th anniversary collection is so nostalgic and it brings back great memories from my childhood. Thank you ruxin for giving us a sneak preview. I ordered a display box from sassy back in February and I couldn't be more excited.
These are sweet! I like how you can tell the difference between print runs. It makes the og cards more special for collectors while the reprints still look amazing.
I'm so glad I got me a box of this when it launched. Got lucky and got the exact 25th anniversary card I wanted. I was so dreading ending up with one one the unplayable Egyptian Gods and not having a full set in that rarity, haha. I definitely really love the look of the Quarter Century rarity. That promo is almost the only reason I bought a box. I might have to mount mine on the wall with some of my other favourite cards. Until then, it'll libe in a hard case in my card briefcase.
This will be the first time since 2004 that I will be opening a Yugioh pack! There is zero market in my country for old school packs, so even though these are printed in the new style, I am going to cherish each of the 6 as I open them. These little things mean a lot with everything going on in our crazy modern world. The monetary value of cards isn't important when compared to the memories we hold ❤
I was able to find a seller who had this early and pulled the BEWD just yesterday! Glad you noticed how the foiling is different from regular starlights too. I think its how its done in the ocg?
the 25th secret rares might look like starlights, but the art is ABOVE the foiling, which makes them look amazing! Ruxin said something about collecting them? If I get a dark magician and Jinzo, i might be tempted to use them lol
I may have missed it but interesting seeing some of the different colors on the cards from the origionals. but cant wait to buy a box just for the promo's, love looking back at the oldschool cards.
You can tell the difference of cards from now and then. I kinda like they were able to bring these cards back since it’ll be better chances to pull OG cards. I love the promo rarity so much.
I am really hyped for this set. Even though I think it's a shame that the cards don't look exactly like they used to it's still so nostalgic to open packs from my childhood 😁
Pre-0rdered my box. Can't wait to see what I pull. I stopped collecting Yugioh cards after 5Ds came out. Got back into it about a year or so ago. I can finally get a Winged Dragon of Ra card. Never got one years ago. I do have the Movie Promo Slifer and the JMP promo Obelisk so at least I'll have some version of Ra to complete my God Card set.
Konami surprises me with its willingness to re-release vintage packs completely. Especially if the booster boxes are also being reprinted. That's crazy. Could you imagine Pokemon Company doing that? Just dropping booster reprints of the wizards of the coast Era sets? Or even E readers? Like bro pure chaos.
A bit off topic question about the divine beasts (god cards) I notice that they don't have effect. How does the TCG treat these cards ? Do we pretend that they have an effect or are they completely useless?
Thank you for showing the difference in cards. I've been wondering how they were different since you mentioned it in the other video. I'm returning to yugioh after 20 years of being away and this helped. Thank you.
Out of all the promos I'd love to get Red Eyes in the 25th secret rare for sure. Looking forward to opening a couple of boxes of these myself when they're out.
Not sure if it’s been said but the people who opened had a euro box so that’s why it looked like a speed duel secret, yours won’t look like that because it’s US print
I'm just so pumped they printed this set. When it was announced I couldn't wait unfortunately I won't be able to pick it up anytime soon due to funds, but living vicariously through rux has brought me back to the early 2000's. The nostalgia is real!
I was skeptical, but I think they look great. I’m glad the regular cards are easily distinguished from older prints, though they could have just added a small set or stamp code.
I absolutely adore all of the old school secret rare vanilla monsters. I'm going to need to get all of these new prints with the gorgeous secret rare printing.
i was on the fence about this but i think just having the Quarter Century Secret Rare by itself makes it worth along with the nostalgia factor of pulling such iconic cards
I do like the new look. I do wish they gave it something more, a stamp or a new code or something to separate the 25th from being just another reprint version of the set
When the Yugi-Oh! TCG first introduced in my country, I never opened any of these sets because they were just not available unless you're in the big city (and there barely online shopping back then), so me and my friends would just have to be content with cheap knockoff. So looking forward to opening this set when my purchase arrive!
Well, watching them up close, I'm sure I'll put my hands in a few of these boxes. The starlight promos look nice, and it'd be fun to open the old sets since the pull rates seem a bit better than the OG sets! Of course I'm still having a bit of mixed feelings about these cards being in new format, but I can get behind the possible reasons. A really fun opening and another great video!
So crazy to see legacy packs get the new foil print. I remember i got the binder back in the day. I remember pulling trihorned dragon and spirit dragon.
I have been waiting for your anniversary unboxing. Cant wait to get my hands on it. This set brings back memories from when i would run around with my duel disk.
I feel like it's fine that they used starlight rarity for the base of the 25th rarity. It's for a big year and it's only limited to the promos, so it still keeps it's original allure. Excited for this set though, missed out on the last reprints so the nostalgia will be fun!
@@RunicSigils You're 100% right, but I've seen many just bring up the discussion how it affects starlights as a rarity overall (even ruxin), so that's how I compared it
I'm so hyped to get my hands on a few boxes. Not only am I going to be able to revisit some nastalgic packs but also get some starlight looking cards. I was never able to pull a starlight myself and I think this is the next best thing ☺️
This set looks fun. Sure, they don’t look like the old cards, but they don’t cost as much either! I’m gonna open a box of this when I’m back from my deployment
Personally the new look makes the cards pop more in my opinion. Without being able to see them in person just from your comparison the old school looks faded. I do appreciate how they did the 25th anniversary stamp in the text and not just planted in the card.
Oooo, the century rares might not be worth much, but I think it’s cool for those shinies to be more accessible. Looking forward to try out this product.
These are so cool and nostalgic, but I do have a couple of minor gripes. I wish they secretly put in collectors rares in these sets. That would have been a nice touch. Having the same promos with the same art as before is kind of annoying but at least we get the secret rare variants.
I don’t like when TCGs revisit the same sets too often but for major landmarks like 25th anniversary 10th etc I think it’s cool and nostalgic. Personally not a fan the card shades being so light compared to the OGs but outside of that can’t wait to get some LoB and metal raiders and relive opening those packs
The nostalgia hits the spot for sure, i remember playing or just looking at my fake cards and most of them were from these sets, Kiseitai scared me so much when i was little i couldn´t even grab the card haha
There are a few things about this collection that I find a little frustrating. I know I shouldn't be surprised that they are using the new card layout for the all the reprinted cards, but it just doesn't feel like as much of a 'nostalgia set' if they're not willing to go all-in on the nostalgia and make the cards the way they originally were. And the same thing goes for the fact that they're bundling rares and super together, which, I understand does make it a more consumer-friendly product, but it's still not fully embracing its nostalgic selling point. But at the same time, even it's forgoing some of that past experience in favor of modernization, it's not even fully committing. If they're willing to occasionally mix rares with foils, why doesn't every pack contain a foil, like nearly every other modern set does? Also, and this is by far my biggest gripe: why haven't they given PSCT to the reprinted cards that still need them? Any card in these sets that has received a reprint since the introduction of Problem Solving Card Text has it, but anything that has not still has its ancient card text, and I don't understand why. They were forced to recognize these ancient cards by modernizing all of their layouts, so why couldn't they bring their effects up to modern standards too? It just seems like this product is in a very strange in-between state where it's not fully embracing what's supposed to make a nostalgic set so special, forgoing some of the finer details for more modern conveniences, but it's also not embracing all the modern conveniences either.
I'm definitely looking forward to this set. Will probably pick up a couple from my local card shop, as long as someone doesn't come in and clean their stock out the minute the store opens up that is
Definitely am excited for this set, just got back into collecting last year and I used to have quite the collection when I was younger but they got stolen. This is pretty awesome since I get to collect a lot of the same cards I had.
The more I watch these the more I want to get one myself. I opened the legendary collection binder over 10 years ago, the nostalgia is hitting me like a truck!
I am super happy with konami doing this. I know reprinting the old sets is controversial, but I think this is the best way to do it. I prefer the original print to these, but I'm glad that these are a more modern print of these classic cards. It gives people a chance to relive the nostalgia, while also keeping the originals feeling unique.

Wait where do you pull card values from, I have all my old cards upstairs and I want to deep dive in
Can’t wait to open these up, I don’t think I’ve opened an LOB pack since 2003 when I got them in the tins
Just recently got back into collecting cards after 10 years. The first thing I got was a RDA from the 2008 tin, the same one from my childhood.
They didn't use the Starlight Rarity, they used the OCG Prismatic Secret Rare as a base just like Starlight does.
That Tri horned dragon looks BEAUTIFUL
one of the most nostalgic ones for my childhood at least…
I remember opening the legendary collection binder edition when I was little, so much nostalgia in this set and I can't wait to open some myself
Will probably pick up a couple from my local card shop, as long as someone doesn't come in and clean their stock out the minute the store opens up that is
Can't wait for these to get delivered! I have a few displays coming from sassy. Thanks for the discount code!!
I am very excited to open up this new product. Still nostalgic and interested to see how the new card look looks on them in person.
I just love the old school packs. A shame it does not look like it, but it is still cool.
Definitely am excited for this set, just got back into collecting last year and I used to have quite the collection when I was younger but they got stolen. This is pretty awesome since I get to collect a lot of the same cards I had.
Wow can’t wait to get a box or two and open it myself, the starlight rares are great but I’m looking for the 25th logo the most though.
I love the look of the promos. Especially the Blue Eyes.
The more I watch these the more I want to get one myself. I opened the legendary collection binder over 10 years ago, the nostalgia is hitting me like a truck!
Sad that Konami didn't include the OG printings for BM, BE and RE as promos here.
I wish the foiling was closer to original prints. Something about a tri horn with foiling on the type and stars feels weird
