    Screws hidden in the LED channel. Made me smile. Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship.

    • @GregVirgoe
      @GregVirgoe  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wherever possible I am trying to plan the build to avoid those little black screw caps.
      The ones on the bulkhead will be covered by the bulkhead door.
      This LED was a bit of a gift to get a couple of nice big screws in to help hold the shelf up to the cupboard dividers.

    I followed this video to produce my own identical wall cupboards. Worked perfectly, but I would increase the depth of the top front rail in the carcase. This provides more support to the hinges you will be fitting and acts to reduce the risk of the doors dropping. Take your time, template carefully and pay attention to detail and you too can have what are lovely cupboards. I had friends visit and look at my van last week. They could not believe I did the conversion. Yet all I did was follow your videos. Thank you Greg.

    Hi, great videos I have binge watch with relish.
    I do have a tip though, perhaps for you but especially for other viewers. I am a carpenter with the same table saw and after watching this video I had to stop it and take a screen shot of how close your hand was to the blade when lifting the baton out, I
    did the same thing making window shutters and lost a thumb which wasn't pretty, and now makes any intricate work much harder.
    Be safe and keep up the good work

  • @BarryBethal-yv2oz
    @BarryBethal-yv2oz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Greg.. your videos are " the best" by far I like the amount or detail you provide also the product detail. I understand a lot more about insulation now after watching you detailed explanation. I am planning on doing a conversion myself as soon as I find a decent van and will use your videos as reference as I go.

    Videos like this are invaluable to people like me with very little experience. There are TONS of little bits of knowledge to pick up on...like taping the plywood before using the jigsaw to keep it from pulling the edges up?? I'm positive that's a trick plenty of people already know, but I didn't know about that until I learned it here. Thanks for the quality content!

    After watching dozens of self build videos, I finally discovered your mesmerising series. Far from encouraging me to have a go, I realise that anything I attempted would be so lacking in quality that I would absolutely hate the end product. Thank you for freeing me from months of anguish and bitter self recrimination and for potentially saving my marriage from the inevitable torment I would have inflicted on my Wife. Sometimes it is good to appreciate ones own limitations and simply enjoy watching a true master at work. Thanks for the hours of enjoyment.

    I trained as a cabinet maker a few years ago and jumped straight in at the deep end by starting my own workshop, fresh out of college. It's been a stupidly steep learning curve and I've made plenty of mistakes along the way. I only wish your videos were around then but, now in the process of converting my own Sprinter, I have found your calm, methodical approach so incredibly useful and, especially in comparison to the ridiculously verbose nonsense of most of our American cousins, straight to the point. It is utterly refreshing and your posts are an absolute pleasure to watch. I have picked up a myriad tips along the way and I can't thank you enough for being a steady, concise, detailed and reliable (not to mention talented) beacon amid the fog of half-wittery that clutters this here social medium. Hearty congratulations and I very much look forward to the next installment.

    Without doubt the best build guides I've seen. Love the attention to detail and so many great little tips. I fear I might end up spending more on tools than materials.
    I'm now battling the two voices in my head. 1) All the information you need is there what's stopping you. 2) This build has set the standard so high don't even both starting.
    At least I have a few months to think about it
    Thanks

    Greg, you're going to love traveling in your masterpiece, but I suspect theres going to be a time when you really miss your tools and man cave. I love the detailed work on the angles in this build, it's the difference between a backyard build and a professional build :) I love seeing your proud smile whenever you've suprised yourself at how awesome the finish is, in this video it was when you were pull on the bolted up frame and making the whole van more :)

    I felt somewhat optimistic about a decent van build but after seeing Greg’s level of expertise, tools and knowledge I think my attempts will be more like a carry on film. Where do you start when you have only basic DIY skills? Fair play to you Greg, incredible stuff!

      David Ward start as I did by practicing on simple projects like building a box from scraps of wood to get use to the tools and joints

    I've watched so many of your videos now (all the ones of the van conversion) and I'm still astonished by your level of professionalism every time. That thing with the recessed LED strip is just pure genius! This van is going to look so much better, and going to be so much more practical, than any mass produced van on the market (and probably at a fraction of the cost). 👍🏼😉

    • @GregVirgoe
      @GregVirgoe  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats very kind of you, thanks. We started looking at production motorhomes but the most basic was £40k and upwards. We will end up with everything we want and to a very high standard for only a third of the cost. I know it has taken me a lot of my time, but that part I have also really enjoyed. Being able to share the whole experience with everyone is the icing on the cake. Great to have your support.
