Sir Raghuram Rajan is one of the best governors in the world. Everything in his words has a meaning. We all are very lucky, such a great power was the governor of our country. We all the countrymen thank him from the heart that as our governor, he served our country selflessly.
Why modi government was against rajuram rajan's policies. Although you want to be neutral but the fact is modi government has always didn't liked RR ideas for govt vested interests. Why? 1. He kicked in Asset Quality review which highlighted the correct amount of NPA's, while earlier banks were just evergreening the bad loans. 2. He was against the top corporate defaulters and handed the list of big willful defaulters to PMO. PMO did nothing, instead brushed all these NPA into the carpet bcz it could have damaged the govt report card. 3. He was against reducing interest rates (hence foreign exchange build-up) , while govt was hell bent to supr growth by lowering rates for rampant credit offtake. 4. He emphasise on RBI independence and institutional capability and a independent monetary policy not accommodative as per fiscal policy while Bkts want all under their control. 4. Again as you said, a stupid arrogant decision like demonetisation was blocked by RR. 5. He was also in favour of arvind modi committee report on Gst which advocated one tax slab, and thorough plan to rolling out Gst, which govt ignored and started a flawed Gst.
