    I raised my Diabetic Service Dog Trigger from a puppy. He has learned how to snap me out of a Diabetic coma. He has changed my Blood Glucose level while I was driving. You heard me. I was losing consciousness and Trigger let out a huge Bark that scared me so much I had a massive adrenaline release. It scared me to the point I completely snapped out of it. From what I have learned no other Service Dog can do what he does. He saved my life several times. If you have any questions contact me.

My dog is highly food motivated and we said "yes" and gave a treat when he recognized new things without reacting. Look at the bicycle, look at me, "yes", treat, move on. Good luck!

      Having a service dog for a type 1 diabetic, gets to a point of becoming an absolute necessity. I was diagnosed in 96, and my ability to detect low blood sugar on my own has been mediocre at best, for years! I have nearly died countless times, and I could write a book on the crazy experiences I've had. It's definitely time to start the process of getting a service dog.

    I recently got a dog that is 9 years old very well mannered in public and listens very well. He seems like he had been trained professionally and just recently my sugar went extremely low and he started acting crazy and barking in my face, which now me and my husband are wondering how I get a mature dog certified. Since then I have been working on scents when I’m low. Can you help?

      Not every dog has the work ethic, eagerness to please and the scenting ability to serve as a service dog. Additionally, service dogs must meet a very high standard of obedience to be allowed public access. If desired, we can assess your dog’s aptitude for diabetic alert dog training. From there the cost would depend on the number of training cycles you and your dog would need.

    • @RavenTheLabrador
      @RavenTheLabrador 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mai Matsuda there is no criteria that makes somebody either eligible or ineligible if you have a disability that a service dog can help mitigate your disability then a service dog would definitely be beneficial to you. if you don't want to wait for a program dog then I encourage you to research and look into how you can properly owner train a diabetic alert dog they are no different than a program dog they are trained exactly the same way to alert the exact same way to the same thing like in your case low blood sugar. anyways good luck hopefully you either get a program dog or decide to owner train one yourself it's actually not near as difficult as some people try to make it sound there are tons of resources out there to help you do this.

    At what point can the dog go with me everywhere/to work? the reason for asking is I’m a single woman and recent empty Nester. I have type one diabetes and sometimes I don’t wake up to my CGM alarms. I don’t want to die this way. I know that sounds dramatic, but, it’s my truth. At what point would my job be required to accept him/her as an accommodation? If not right away, is it possible to be approved by you if I would have to leave them at home to go to work until they can be with me full time?

    • @TopDogProfessionalTraining
      @TopDogProfessionalTraining  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jay, I'm sorry to just now be seeing this. Yes we would require a lower A1C than that. When the A1C is high, it typically means that you are having so many drastic blood glucose changes that a dog would have a hard time keeping up.

    • @lonestarkennels4117

    • @TopDogProfessionalTraining

      Yes but unfortunately dogs are just like humans, and they can only be expected to work so hard. A diabetic alert dog has to be on constant alert, and if you're having constant changes it will quickly fatigue the dog, and burn them out.

      @TopDogProfessionalTraining  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Feel free to reach out if you'd like to talk to some referrals of folks that have gone through this program. I think you'll find that one thing I've never been accused of in my twenty years of training dogs is upselling, kind of the opposite in fact. I tend to give away too much stuff for free. Overall this program has saved a lot of people money because many were prepared to spend $20-30k for a fully trained Diabetic Alert Dog and instead were able to come in at a fraction of that cost by using the cycle training system that I described here.
