you clearly haven't been to Universal Studios Lately it's pretty amazing and this coming from a Disneyland castmember we where there during Christmas time it was so festive
Our family just returned from Disneyland. We go several times a year. In 2025 we'll be skipping Disney all together and flying from CA to FL for Universal's EPIC Universe, with no intentions of visiting WDW. The bottom line is the magic has almost completely disappeared from Disneyland. The number of rides consistently broken down on a daily basis, the mobile ordering saying you'll have a 3-4 hour wait to get food, reduction of menu items coupled with increased food prices, increased ticket prices, squeezing every penny they can from visitors through lightning lane and VIP add-ons, elimination of some really great entertainment, lack of friendliness from cast members, and finally the overcrowding of the parks, has spoiled the experience of this 50+ year park attendee. I'll never give up on Disneyland completely, but they've forced me to re-think vacation options and that breaks my heart.
Disneyland/DCA is just better than Disney world, that being said planning a trip to Orlando and we will go to Universal more days than Disney world. Disneyland and DCA just more magical…
Katie how have your migraines been during the holidays? The stress always brings them on for me. I hope you have not had any more aura migraines. Headaches they are just the worst.
Oh man there’s some good sicknesses going around right now, we’re sick with the cough/sinus stuff right now. I’m surprised you guys don’t get sick more often with all the travel. Hope y’all feel 100 now 🎉
Omg! I laughed out loud! When you guys talked about how Disney pass was charged on Christmas Day 😂 truly no holiday spirit when it comes to their money right?! I was geez remind me of my gift to myself Disney thanks 😂😂 so funny
Next time, go to Cowboy Christmas!! They have them everywhere. The official is LV convention center, there's also the Rio, the Horseshoe and South Point. I love NFR!!!!
I can’t remember where the places I shared this…. My first trip to Disneyland in quite a few years even being local was so disappointing on an operational level. I get the modern rides can be super sensitive to random understandable things like guest items falling out of cars triggering sensors. Shame on guests for not being responsible. Still getting in line after line only to have to move on cause of issues was annoying. And finishing the night being stuck on Pirates for maybe 45 minutes cause the ride wouldn’t restart properly, just said so much. They can promise magic, and building new rides, but what I experienced, paying good money, was not a top tier time nor a vote of confidence on how things will go on in the future. It genuinely feels like Disney has that Wall Street, equity company mindset. Give as little as possible. Cut as much as you can, Raise Prices as much as possible to make the quickest of profits. Short term thinking. My bargain store experience has left me not wanting to go back for a very long time. I remember the older days when you got so many little things that added up to nostalgia.
Merry Christmas Katie and Spencer. So many people sick this Xmas including our house. I have to wonder at what point will people say that’s enough with Disneyland and prices and special lines and broken down rides entertainment gone in the two theaters one at DCA and the outside theater by the small world. We spend our time at Disneyland looking down at our cell phones trying to get on rides and pre ordering food. It’s so stressful when you only have a couple of days to enjoy the park and you miss the charm. It’s really sad and I feel bad for younger families that will not have the same experience our children had. They need a new leader. Someone that’s understands the magic of Disney.
DCA is the superior park in my opinion. Live in FL now and let my pass lapse. CMs value the magic more in CA.... but the rate they're paving over the past. Sure must evolve. but losing Lillys rose garden and the gazebo.... court d'angles in new orleans square... and sure Star wars is cool but losing Big Thunder trail and the ranch.... Maybe im just OG and nostalgic
100% agree on the standards as well as the quality experience at DL has gone down in the past 10 years. And your right we are accepting it. That needs to change. I hope Disney execs get this feedback, it needs to change.
It is like the Casinos, since shut down they never brought all the perks back. People were glad they were just open again, and they come so no need to bring it all back.
You guys are spot on with your review of today’s Disneyland. When Spencer said “it’s part of people’s lives for many generations and Disneyland will keep it just good enough…”. I said that is EXACTLY what I think! You guys are the best.
I'm afraid the Disney parks in the U.S. are going through some kind of decline. Every time I consider buying an annual pass at Disneyland or booking a WDW vacation, I have second thoughts by wondering if either of these actions are worth the effort. Have you two ever consider a trip to the parks in Japan?
I agree with you about ride maintenance. The last two times I went, multiple rides were down at different times. I know that with some of the new technologies that that could be the expected, but things like Pirates and Haunted Mansion are not a part of that thought process. In the past, it was very rare that things were down. I always thought that COVID shutdown would have been a great time to go in and refurbish rides. Happy new Year to you both!!!
The people Disney is losing are the people who are not Disney crazy and go for the first time. They don’t return. They will always have the true Disney fans but as far as new generations they’re actually losing as repeaters or turn them into Disney crazy fans. They don’t have that. Which is a problem for the future
Think Disney needs to fix attractions not building new ones like Disneyland California , people moves, I love Disney world but never been to Disneyland California.
I'm so grateful that you guys are being honest about Disney. For those of us who live far away from the resort it's very sad. We have to save, plan, and travel so far for a very expensive vacation. We used to go fairly often, but after the parks reopened, and we saw what it takes to go now, reservations, paying for things that used to be included, breakdowns, etc, we had to choose vacations that are more budget friendly. Heartbreaking, as it used to really be our "Happiest Place on Earth".
Thank you for all your informative Disney videos. We are arriving soon and I told my son to keep my grandgirls in so they would feel well for the trip - so far so good. Rest up and feel better soon.
Loved the update. Our house got that cold bug, and goodness did it linger! This season was non-stop for us too. Shutterfly seemed to take a little longer this year. I would've just cried if I missed a number(current list is 160). Yet sometimes you just have to PIVOT!
Glad you guys are starting to feel better! It was crazy up here in Santa Cruz when the end of the wharf broke off! Total bummer for shops/bars/restaurants out there - the wharf is now closed indefinitely for repairs. Thanks for the Vegas content - Barf and I are meeting up with his parents there this Spring - I managed to get a reservation for the Golden Steer on Mother's Day. If you guys are there that weekend hit me up - I'd love to meet up at the Golden Tiki for drinks, first round on me!
Great vlog! Wishing you a speedy recovery and a happy new year 🎉. This reminds me of the 90’s when Paul Pressler did the exact same thing, and it got turned around for the 50th and My hero, Matt Ouimet came in and fixed it all up. Maybe you remember how bad it had gotten, peeling, faded paint, it was so depressing. Let’s hope the 70th can shake stuff up!
Love the video and want some tips on starting a vlog channel for me and Michael are thinking of moving to Florida just us together someday and want to meet you some day at Disney land and Bashgarders in January and bringing a friend april
Love you guys so much! Wished I could have sat at the table and enjoyed your commentary! Thx for Solvang- now I’m obsessed with going. Sorry you all were sick- it’s going around for sure! Hope to see you in the Park in Jan- getting a 3-day pass. I’ll bring coasters!!😂Churro Carol💕
Happy Holidays to you from Sacramento CA! You both look amazing and rested! My kitchen Christmas tree was actually a "Merry Birthday" one, decorated with "Happy Birthday to you" ornaments with matching bows and a Merry Birthday topper. My hubby gave me a big party for my 70th birthday. Have a good New Year 2025! 🎄❤️
We got sick, too 😅😅 Half-cooked is right. Over-priced, broken down rides, bathrooms with cheap, whisper thin toilet paper. We're not going back. Sorry, next venue.
I went to Disneyland on December 19th and started feeling sick a couple days later. I came down with Influenza A and still feel horrible! Thank you for all your awesome videos ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Yes!!! Go back to Las Vegas🎰🎰🎰🎰🎰🎰
I was curious too as to why diet Coke tastes better at Mickey Ds "Many people believe that Diet Coke tastes better at McDonald's because they receive their Coca-Cola syrup in stainless steel tanks, which keeps it fresher compared to the plastic bags used by most other restaurants, and they also have a superior water filtration system, ensuring the quality of the mixed drink is consistently high; this results in a more balanced and flavorful soda experience."

Yes yes yes, the expectation of Disney is gone. Way to expensive for massive lines, broken down rides and way to many headaches.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

I think Epic Universe will be a healthy competition Businesses need competition to say healthy

I agree with you in regards to DL. Sad but true. It should be treated like an iconic museum.
