  • This is a fairly simple project for hacking your doorbell with Arduino and MySensors. controlling if the doorbell rings with an on/off switch and sending a triggered state whenever it's pressed. The silence feature can be useful if a child (or you) is taking a nap. The triggered state can be used for many different things like starting a security camera, sending an alert or text message, playing custom sounds via Sonos or other device, etc. Here is a link to the code and wiring diagram: forum.mysensors...

+MAN I use AutHomation. It was removed from the Play store because the developer stopped developing it but it is still super useful. Here is a link to the direct download: forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,25219.0.html

I actually ran a separate 5VDC line from my whole house power supply since it was near by. I used that to power my arduino and sensors.

+Harold M that app is called AuthomationHD. Unfortunately it's no longer being developed.

+Afseer KP Check out www.mysensors.org/controller/vera I also made some videos for getting it set up: th-cam.com/video/TBvGrB094Co/w-d-xo.html. I hope that helps.

How to you get the 5v power is it a battery ?

+hustlagrillz123 I need to make a video some day but I haven't gotten around to it (and I want to test it before recommending it to people) but I converted an old PC power supply to get DC power throughout the house. It has been working for well over a year so maybe it's time to make the video.

+Pete B was about to ask the same thing one thing which always makes me pull my hair is source to arduino.

Saurabh Sarang Yeah, I often find it's easiest to use and old cell phone charger if I'm just powering an arduino and a couple of sensors. I have been able to get them for free fairly often when they are recycled at work so it's nice and cheap.

Hi Robert, I just noticed my code is old. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll add it to my list to update but for now you can try the version that was uploaded further down in the forum post. Sorry about that. forum.mysensors.org/topic/2064/how-to-doorbell-automation-hack/95
