CAT 4: Hurricane Helene With Lightning in Eye on Radar

- After recon reported a 135 mph flight-level wind, Hurricane Helene intensified into a Category 4 storm at 6:20 p.m. EDT on September 26, 2024, with maximum sustained wind of 130 mph sustained winds and could still intensify a bit more, according to AccuWeather meteorologists. Meteorologist Bernie Rayno checks the eye out on radar.

Hurricane party! As a native, we are always prepared. We never buy houses in flood zones. We keep the trees trimmed and our roofs are tied down for wind mitigation. The powerlines are all underground in my subdivision and we have great drainage. Power outages are usually very short. We have the best utility company.

@hood_TheJoker I'm in Florida and you are right. Every year is going to be the worst and everyone is the worst. I am actually deep in that green he's circling and it's windy but not hurricane bad.
They show you the worst areas but do not tell you how 99%+ of people in the same area are fine.
Power outtages are real. But there are no real threats besides that in the Bay area unless you can see the coastal waters within a few hundred feet when you look out of your window of your home.
The past 3 hours I've seen the sky light up a beautiful Blue color due to arc flashes from broken power lines or blown transformers. I just saw another one while typing the comment. I've seen about 9 and heard 3 others. Be safe, but dont worry so much. The panhandle could use some prayers though.
