    In psychic silence, Khârn confessed something he’d never said outside his Legion.
    ‘Yes, we feel the same. The World Eaters, each and every one of us, knows what you know.’
    +Why do you tolerate it?+
    ’What can we do? Murder our own father? Did you destroy Lorgar when he led you into worshipping the Emperor? Or did you tolerate him in patience, hoping that eventually he’d find his way to equalling his brothers?’
    A pause. A long, long pause. Khârn took it as Argel Tal’s capitulation and pushed on.
    ‘It’s our shame to bear before the other Legions, brother. Angron was broken long before he ever reached
    us. Why do you think we let him beat the Nails into our heads? We hoped that by breaking ourselves on the same anvil, we’d finally feel unity with our father.’
    There was nothing of mockery in the Word Bearer’s reply. Only sympathy. Khârn’s skin crawled. He’d have preferred mockery.
    +It didn’t work?+
    ‘No,’ he muttered, as much to himself as to the distant Word Bearer. ‘It didn’t.’
    -Kharn and Argel Tal from the novel Betrayer, regarding Angron'

    I love 30k World Eaters. Probably my favorite legion. I hate chaos WE though. I hate the "We have a strong warrior code but we kill for fun and slaughter skulls blood for the blood god!" but I am balls deep in the " Hi, we are regular space marines with a chemical kill engine in our brains and we can't control it. Like the Hulk" Like how Kharn gained the luna wolves respect, until they saw him in combat. And how they are more afflicted by their savageness. Like they might make friends with you, fall subject to their problems, kill you, snap out and regret it. I love that aspect of them.

    If the emperor just helped Angron defeat the slavers instead of watching then teleporting him off the planet to watch his friends die it would have solved a lot of daddy issues.

      Please, no one wants Angron anyways. He's worse than logar, at least logar was good enough to cause the Horus Herasy and destroy the entire Imperium's future, cause the death of the Emperor and most of his brothers either converted, dead, or missing.. Angron was losing to a bunch of humans, daddy is disappointed Angron. He's the SJW of primarch, loud, obnoxious, violent, but stupid and bad at everything, destroying w/e he touches. Daddy just didn't care about his failure of a son.

      It's pretty obvious I was joking anyways. but Angron still was a dead man walking. Butcher nails was going to kill him. So it's natural daddy's failure would either die, or throw a teenage fit. The traitor primarchs are just making daddy more upset, but they don't know how to come back to daddy.

    These are the best 40k factfile videos by a country mile. You should listen to the audiobooks cos some pronounciation are a bit off but this is a minor quibble. I always wonder why Emps didn't just send Angron's legion down to help him and his slave brothers and sisters win that battle. Imagine how that one little thing would have impacted 40k history. Angron would have been eternally grateful to emps instead of resenting him. Ho hum. Anyway keep up the great work.

    I’ve always wondered if the Nails were created by a (possibly long dead) Khorne cult because the Nails, and Nuceria generally, are so Khornate yet the fluff never actually names them as such.
    It is never explained how the Nails, a device putatively designed for human brains, worked on a Primarch’s very differently architected brain.
    Kharne’s fall to Chaos is quite unexplained. He was disgusted by the newly daemonic Angron and the Legion’s newfound lack of discipline and cohesion.

I picked up a champion of khorne helmet and massive axe from AoS that look like world eaters gear. Also got some world eater cultists. I should probably add some berserkers to my army, but I'm holding out for new chaos stuff next year. we might get primaris scale world eaters stuff and that would be amazing.

  • @bl0ndiey136

    i think the few World Eaters that allied with the Alpha Legion marines early in the Heresy series deserved a mention. they were trying to cripple/destroy Horus’ new enormous warship, so they stowed away and raised hell for a long time. the World Eaters let themselves be taken by the rage one by one, buying time and bringing many traitors with them. spoiler alert but if i remember correctly, their sacrifices allowed the Alpha boys to make it to the engine room and superheat the core. we actually got a surprising amount of insight to the World Eaters in that book as well, i just don’t remember the title unfortunately.

Angron called him out on it stating he couldn't kill him even if he wanted too because the Big E didn't send him and then Angron laughed in Russ face saying how he's a whipped dog where he is a warrior and so are his sons "My life means nothing to them just as their lives mean nothing to me, warriors all with their passions lit aflame by the butchers nails". They will keep fight even if Angron fell. Yes he did lose but Russ didn't win either, because he wouldn't go that extra mile to put down his brother and thinking that this "lesson" would ever get through Angrons thick broken head. #Russ lost and he knows it

    Did the World Eaters kill all of the physics and librarians off of their Chapter and isn't they chapter no more because they are just tiny groups of berserkers and I don't think they use ships or vehicles or long range weapons because I never heard or seen the World Eaters with them.

    • @TacticaImperialis

      Cacaboy 300gamer as I mentioned in the video, the world eater librarians were unable to receive the Butcher's Nails so there weren't many of them by the time of the Heresy. They tried to stop Lorgar from ascending Angron to daemonhood, and were then all butchered by Angron after the transformation. So yes, they killed them all, and can't recruit more because of the Nails

      Cacaboy 300gamer they are CQB specialists but they do use warpsmiths (chaos techamarines) and Havocs (devastator squads/heavy weapons)
      they were a space marine legion and mostly kept to the structure of a legion. after they became warbands, they still varry in form just like any chapter of space marines does

    I would like to hear a theory on something i came across while reading a 40k book. In the Ravenor omnibus, a blunter/untouchable was slowly turned into a normal human. Without spoiling too much, he was assigned to guard the body of an unconscious psyker. The psyker was a type called a 'mirror' who could read telepathic communications near by and also had some precognitive capabilities. The blunter spent months (or even years) in close proximity to the psyker, staying next to him at all times. Eventually the psyker was able to communicate with him psykicly, and even control his action, such a forcing him to sit down and eventually control his mouth and speek through him. What do you think about this?
    (I am also going to ask 40K Theories to see what he thinks.)

  • @catachandevilfang
    @catachandevilfang 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I feel like their reputation as mindless chaotic murder machines in 40k is overstated. For them to survive the losses of the Heresy, PLUS 10000+ years of frontal combat, most warbands must have found a kind of balance that allows them to replace losses, command fleets, and not just rush like lemmings into the nearest enemy defenses. Sure, they rely heavily on their human serfs for repairs, shipmasters, etc., like all marines. But I imagine that the best WE warlords have the strength of will to resist the nails long enough to command effectively. And they still need range and vehicular specialists-I suspect these guys are a mix of recruited outsiders, recently ascended WE, or WE who intentionally turn down the nails (although I’m sure this would be controversial, but once the legion fractures). Or am I just overly hopeful that some others thought like Dreagher did? Thoughts?

  • @BluesifulWave
    @BluesifulWave 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Emperor should've just aided Angron at the time, that way a sense of loyalty would've been established and some, if not most of his comrades could've survived the battle and join the Imperium under Angron's command. With the introduction to his new legion, Angron maybe wouldn't have lashed out on them, resulting in killing them as well as despising his own legion. He'd probably just oblige with what the Emperor had to say and accepted all of them instead. Who knows, perhaps the World Eaters never would've fallen into Chaos under these circumstances and remained loyal to the Imperium. Although, due to the nails in Angron's head he'd eventually die because of how they were tearing him, since he would still retain his human body and not turn into a demon.

    I never really cared for the World Eaters myself. The one point I ever saw that made me see anything really redeeming or interesting in them was in Galaxy of Flames. The speech and moment where the World Eaters hiding in the bunker mention "Going further" and their own philosophy. It was honestly the only time I had seen World Eaters as something other than rabid dogs and saw a particular sense of real character behind them.

      Haven't read that one yet. Be kind of interesting to read, perhaps. Funny thing is when I tell people lately "Khornates are nothing but rabid dogs" (Which I really do believe, Honor is a myth in Khorne, a truth in Slaanesh though) a lot of counter-arguments people tell me come from Horus Heresy stuff, before the World Eaters fully embraced Khorne.

      @peterquint3816 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's some pretty good books in the HH series and also there's a hell of a lot of them. I guess everyone has read one or two.
      Yeah, I liked Betrayer. I like the way ADB writes Lorgar and it's funny how him and Angron kind of become buddies in a chaos-tainted way.

    • @hitomisalazar4073
      @hitomisalazar4073 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well ADB would be the good one to cover such things. He's a Chaos Fanboy after all and does do his level best to really make them shine.
      Though it's also why I'm dreading ever reading Master of Mankind since they got the Chaos Fanboy to write a novel about how the Emperor is a Dick, Horus Was Right, and everything from what I've seen and heard... -_-

    • @peterquint3816
      @peterquint3816 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think what ADB was going for in MoM is that the Emperor appears differently to whoever he speaks to in a form that allows him the most influence over them (my theory). When speaking to the mechanicum guy he appears indifferent about the primarchs because it makes him look like an engineer. He bigs up the custodes so one of them is prepared to make a sacrifice at the end, etc.
      My problem is that he seems kind of underpowered when dealing with the big daemon enemy in the book.
      But, yeah, ADB has made all his chaos characters seem more relatable than the big E who does come across as kind of an arsehole.

    While this legion could be considered the deadliest, they can also be considered the biggest failures. Angron for example found himself as a gladiatorial slave and failed to conquer his homeworld like his brothers,The legion lost many of their commanders just through Angron pissy fit (Thanks to the Emperor being a dumbass), They had no rhyme or reason, they disobeyed the most simplest of orders and found themselves being condemned by everyone, They were the first to turn traitor, they were still hated by the other traitor legions, Angron was tricked into becoming a fucking Daemon Prince, The legion found themselves becoming slaves of Khorne (Either because they loved slaughter or they enjoyed Khorne Flakes cereal), Kharn went apeshit against his own men, and finally the legion is all but shattered. Anyways...I have the reports from my scouting of the next world you're visiting again. :3

      Well about Corax i agree to some degree,well since the Emperor told him to nuke some cities on Kiavahr so he could totally dominate the world,but about the Lion no.By the time The Emperor arrived The Lion conquered Caliban.

    The great 12th legion who must really have loved their Gene father because he let them put the butcher's nails in their heads. Then luckily they did find how much fun following Khorne can be. I wonder if any of the now Khorne Berserkers still have the butcher's nails or did Khorne fix this issue with combat drugs like pcp.

    • @TacticaImperialis
      @TacticaImperialis  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I remember right (this was in the 4th Edition CSM codex I believe), they still implant the retrofitted nails - it's how the Black Legion is able to have Khorne Berserkers in its ranks.

    You mentioned that the only time that the only time that the WE warbands have come back together was during the 1st War for Armeggedon, but what about Kharn's Butcherhorde? that's supposes to be very large as well. Granted it's not just WE, but c still. ..

    • @TacticaImperialis
      @TacticaImperialis  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I meant that Armageddon was the only time the LEGION reunited. Warbands have fought together before, absolutely, and probably in decent numbers, but never on a scale reminiscent of the Legion days.

      the Scouring where they wiped out the whole population over night happened when Angron faught Russ and when papa smurf protested before the night of the wolf. The battle of Skalathrax was caused because of the slave wars. but again very well done.

    Pro tip: When making your holy army to fight the ruinous powers and reclaim the universe for the glory of the emporor, consider not giving too many guns to the guys calling themselves “World Eaters”. The same goes for the “Gang rape Appreciation Society” and “People for the Nuclear Extermination of All Living Things” :P I know it is a reference to Angron’s past, but come the fuck on man! Might as well have called them “Evil McEvilface” XD

    Do the 12th even care about their Apothecaries or gene seed? How do they keep any numbers at all?

    • @TacticaImperialis
      @TacticaImperialis  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe they are able to implant the Butcher's Nails into Astartes themselves these days, obviously they kept the design from Angron. Anyone they do it to presumably becomes an honorary member and a Khorne Berzerker

    • @theeternalchronicler3072
      @theeternalchronicler3072 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      King Baldwin IV Yes and Yes. Like any faction of Astartes gene seed is a top priority for the Legion. If I remember right Kharn and another Officer in the legion lamented on the dead and feared that one day the legion shall be no more. When it comes to apothecaries.... They care enough to try to keep them alive for they realize they are what keeps the legion alive but will kill them without the slightest thought if they either anger them and just cant restrain themselves or if said apothecary challenges them to a duel.
      When your a apothecary of the 12th Legion you stand a better chance then most of your brothers but that still doesn't mean your even remotely safe.
      If you want a legion that doesn't care for their gene seed and apothecaries talk to the Third Legion.

    • @krisbrooks1825

    I think Angrons whole story is stupid:
    1) If his infant ass just shytkicked several eldar aspect warriors, how did ho mer simpson manage his capture?
    2) If the emperor knew the butchers nails were bad, why didnt he say something at the start? Why wait till it was endemic and then send Russ to show him a metaphor?
    3) How is it that Magnus got a council, Lorgar got his city nuked and Kurze got arrested, but Angron got vague admonishments. Butchers Nails are heretek, Angron was a poor commander at best and his legion went rogue. How he not censured???
    4) Why emps not just wipe out nucerian tyrants, save Angrons friends, make him happy?
    5) GW, please explain how allowing a mentally broken criminal to murder the entire upper and much of the middle command echelons of a space marine legion makes any sense? Explain how it COULD even function without ranking officers?

      I'd have to go digging around in the timeline to see if we have a solid answer to that. Lorgar is the most obvious since he had already fallen to Chaos before the corruption of Horus, but I would wager Angron/Mortarion/Perturabo were amongst the first
