Once again, another great tutorial from which I learned both things that I was looking for as well as an immensely useful concept I didn't even know I wanted to learn until seeing it in action here. Respect on Poptoogi's skills.
Like how Poptoogi doesn't stop from saying what keys or commands to hit, please keep doing that, helps a lot and i imagine to many viewers.. Now i see how the bones work, didn't B4 but good i said it, was wondering how and you also bind the points, to manipulate the movment👍🏼
I am going through your tutorials and I wanted to thank you so much for making these! I have had Anime Studio for a long time and it has been so daunting that I just haven't worked with it. I've opened it a bunch of times, gotten confused and frustrated and gave up. But these are so helpful! And now I have more confidence to give it a try. I've been playing with traditional animation on an ANCIENT version of Photoshop and doing frame by frame and layer by layer. Which is so time consuming and I was thinking vector animation would be a little less time consuming once the characters were created.
Is it's basically the "skeleton" method within the "skeleton" of the character itself, and apparently saves a lot of time with the animation process. I need to add this to my arsenal. Thanks for the tutorial😁
You've nested the eye bone layer inside of the face bone layer. How do you get the eyes to bind to the head now? Thank you for this short and focused tutorial. It is exactly the kind of lesson that works for me.
Hi Jollo! If you watch my character creator tutorial you can see how I bind my eyes to a rig. There are several ways to bind objects or layers but I prefer to bind without binding! I know that sounds weird but I like to place all of my head parts in a folder, that way I don't have to worry about placing or moving any of them because they are all contained in that folder. This tutorial shows how it works much better. th-cam.com/video/acz2uXcmwJA/w-d-xo.html I think about 17:00 in it explains why I do this. Again, it's not the only way to do it, just the way I like too! Hope this helps!
I am not able to move each pupil separately. The manipulate bone tool rotates it. Also when using the transform bone tool, it only moves the bone and not the shape along with it. Help?
I’m having trouble with the manipulating bones together. When the parent bone is the middle bone both eyes move but the single eye bone only rotates in a circle. You said that “it will override” how did you get it to move?
Hey man thanks for the tutorial, quick question. After you've drawn the three circles and the drew a line with auto weld turn on and coloured it all, I noticed that when you pressed t and brought the eye lid down at 1:30, I can't seem to keep the line straight. As I bring it down it sort of deforms the lower eyelid, whereas in your example it stays straight as you drag it down. Any ideas? Thanks!
Nevermind just figured it out lol, I didn't have the sharp corners box checked off when I was adding points. Once I checked it off and then curved it out I was able to close the eyelid with a straight line. Thanks again for the tutorial!
hi Ducrosin! Try holding shift down as you drag the point . That should keep it straight. It also helps to have the grid on so the points snap in place! Let me know if that helps!
Ha! I figured it out too. The key is to make side points of the eyelids peaked (not curved). If you want to make eyes totally round just use binded eye lid points more curved out
Amazing tutorial.... im looking for tutorial to do some good looking shades (cartoon or manga style) i try it with mask, separate vector layes even basic shading fills but still not happy with result....
Can you send a link to an example of what kind of shading you're trying to get? Some anime styles are more complex than others so I just wanted to see what you're going for.
nothing too dificult something like that : sk.pinterest.com/pin/508625351637340493/ or this orig01.deviantart.net/6b27/f/2013/207/a/5/black_widow_by_bocodamondo-d6fb6e4.jpg
Hopefully you can help; when I do the parenting of the pupils/eyebrows to the horizontal bone, it can control both child bones just fine (I can move in any direction). However when I try to use the child bone to move an individual pupil/eyebrow, all it does is rotate it. Do you happen to know how to fix this? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Ah, that would do it; was still on frame 0. Using the transform bone tool only moved the bones while I was on 0, not the bones and points. Thanks again.
I am having issues with binding points. I release all points and retry several times. Do you have any setting that I should set before I bind points? When I have bind points the bone move full 360 and the bottom eyelid moves a small amount But it just not bonded to the point. Just tried it again on the eyebrow After binding the point they go bold red then I select the bone layer and use T but only the bones move not the eyebrow. I watch your videos all the time only just started using anime studio pro 11. Hope you know what I am doing wrong.
Hi Deanmrd, It's really hard to say what the problem is unless I see your file. If you want you can send it to me in a Facebook message at facebook.com/poptoogi so I can take a look at it. I
About the layers, when i try to mak pupil go back of the eyelids, it goes back if the white parts and no matter how much i try, either pupils pops up from the eyelids or goes back than the white, some one tell me what i did wrong T.T
Ok so I have a small issue. My Wacom tablet is powered by Microsoft , the keyboard interface is missing the up and down keys , is there a menu I can scroll out and select the layer to push the pupil down, it won't let work properly and does not blink out the pupil. Any help would be much appreciated . (I know to go buy a external keyboard is fastest but I want to know either way.) Thank you.
Hmmm not sure what to do in that situation Rodd. I only use a mouse and keyboard. You might check with the moho/anime studio official forum. I'm sure someone there would know what to do!
ShoNuff93 I had to find a keyboard since there is no scroll down menu for the layer order. Thank you for your videos and all your help. If I get the hang of this , I will make sure to give your work and channel the credit for it.
Do you know why would bind points become unselectable? Did you encounter with such problem?Because when i finally starting to select points for binding it didnt let me.I always at frame 0.
Martin Little good news! After breaking my head over it, I realize that if you press and hold the shift key, + the enter button , it does the same as using the space bar but with out starting the time line. I don't know why that is, but it's working for me the same way the space bar did for his video. Try it and spread the word if it works for you.
You can change the behavior of the Space Bar by checking/unchecking the "Classic point editing keyboard shortcuts" found in Edit tab (Edit > Preferences > Tools) There's more info in the users' manual on page 443
+Stridgamer I will Stridgamer! This would definitely be part of it though. I think I'm going to have to make a really long tutorial to cover everything or break it up in to parts like this. It the next thing I'll be doing in any case!
Hey every time I move my smart bone for my eyes my front arm jumps....the arm is not "point bind" to the smart bone...I'm so confused on why this is happening
Are you sure all of you bones have the bone strength turned down? That happens to me sometimes. If you're still having trouble send me your file as an attachment on facebook facebook.com/poptoogi and I'll see if I can figure out the problem.
ou, I'm so sorry, I think it was just mistake of program. When I reload my file (which I did by this tutorial) then all stuff turned on right way. Thank you for your tutorial, bro
Hey JLS. If your on a PC it's the alt button I believe instead of the option. It should be the first or second button next to the space bar. Let me know if you find it!
HI i was just emailing with a question. do you think smart bones can only be used with rotation or would the same for lateral movements as well? my eye rig in order for me to blink i have to move the bone up and down and in the smartbone action(the blue timeline) it works smoothly and i have no issues but when i go back into the main timeline itslike i never did it any suggestions?
I don't even have MOHO but I almost watch your all video, you are a master
Once again, another great tutorial from which I learned both things that I was looking for as well as an immensely useful concept I didn't even know I wanted to learn until seeing it in action here. Respect on Poptoogi's skills.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your verbal step-by-step directions as you work, very helpful!

Great detailed tutorial. Well done. 👍
You make the best moho tutorials
Is it's basically the "skeleton" method within the "skeleton" of the character itself, and apparently saves a lot of time with the animation process.
I need to add this to my arsenal. Thanks for the tutorial😁
Easiest tutorial for moho i've ever had
space bar makes the timeline go forward in my version too and when i use the bucket it fills up with points. What am I doing wrong?
I like this eye rig. I shall make this when I get home.
Nice piece here mr. Thanks for the rest of my life!
Great Job on making it easy for us to learn. Keep up the good work

Love your tutorials. I have learned a lot from you.
Thanks a million, dude, I'm learning a lot!
i hope i can learn just as fast as you.never done anime before looks like a lot of clicking and i plan on buying the Moho (Anime Studio) Debut 12
Anime Studio is pretty easy to learn i. I mostly taught myself how to use it and I picked it up pretty fast.
ShoNuff93 would you know if this would work with anime studio Ugee M708 Art Design Graphics Drawing Tablet

Thank you for this guide...I have an issue I can't figure out. When I move my character's eyes its not being hidden under the face.

Faced the same problem. Both suggested solutions by you and Ducrosin are not working

Thank you so much for this tutorial. Are you currently producing anything available online?

Are you moving it with the very bottom of the bone and off frame zero?
You can send me your file at facebook.com/Poptoogi and I can take a look to see if I can figure out the problem too.

*Finally, I SOLVED IT*
Nice
Hi, man. Why my bones do not working in next frames? Only in first frame
Can you send the the file so I can see what you are talking about? facebook.com/Poptoogi
Ok, I will. By the way, I use 11 version of Anime Studio. Maybe this is the problem?
ou, I'm so sorry, I think it was just mistake of program. When I reload my file (which I did by this tutorial) then all stuff turned on right way. Thank you for your tutorial, bro
