Your playthroughs; tempo, speed of play and explanation are absolutely perfect. Keep it up! I find too many channels either talk to much about mechanics and strategies where you touch on everything without overstaying its welcome
Colin is definitely my fave solo-gamer playthrough guy! Fun to watch and relaxing! Now I want to get this game even more haha Thanks for this Colin and One Stop Co-op shop team!
19:29, I believe this is incorrect. You still have to take into account the range of the Automa, which for the Taklon Faction Card is at 3. That trans-planet is 4 range of it's closest mine/building; so it shouldn't have been considered.
Just got this game for christmas and played a couple two player games with a buddy. Im in love. They way everything flows is perfect. Going to try my first solo game tomorrow. Cant wait!
This video is great - I got this game for Christmas and the few videos I watched have made me more and more nervous about not being able to learn how to play because it just seemed so complicated! The solo set up video was great and I learned a LOT by setting up my game board exactly like yours so I could follow what you were doing (even using the exact same Automa cards). In the beginning, I kept having to rewind to figure out why you were getting points (or ore or coins) at "random" times in the game, but by Round 3, I was pretty much able to pause the video and figure out how to carry out the next step myself. On to the second half of the game!
It's funny that I actually did the exact same thing as Nancy before even seeing this post 😂 Basically setup my game exactly like Colin's too, using all the same automa cards, map layout, tech upgrades etc. Great way to learn the game! Thanks so much for your awesome videos, Colin!
Awesome video. Was really helpful to see the automa in action for my first time playing. Was really fun to watch too! Great quality. Loved hearing you being so enthusiastic
Bought myself a copy yesterday (the Hungarian release was a week ago). This video is a must-see before my first solo session. :) Love your vids! Keep up the good work!
Great playthrough. Helped me to make a decision to get that game for Christmas. Can't wait to see second part and hope that we will get Star trek frotiers next.
Yes! Good to hear it is worth every penny! Also Star Trek is on the short list. Probably within the next 3 games! I need my Mage Knight/Star Trek fix! :)
Sweet :) Talking about Mage Knight, knowing from the podcast that Steve is a big Mage Knight fan are you planning to do two players playthrough of the ultimate edition in the future ?
Steve is actually planning on selling Mage Knight, I was the one that loves it ha! I am getting an ultimate edition, so another playthrough is eminent! I do have one already on the channel if you are interested. Thanks so much for watching and listening to the channel!!
Another tip regarding sleeves and camera, get matte sleeves! I only buy Ultimate pro matte these days, both reduced glare and they feels nice shuffling :D
Nice work Colin... picked this up last week and it has hit the table a few times already, fantastic game! Possibly on par with Anachrony for me in terms of the best Automa/AI implementation in a game so far.
Hey I think I missed something but, at around 19:30, the AI's faction action is to place a mine within range 3. So how did they place a mine on the transdim planet if it looks like it's in range 5?
So great to watch this :) Have to do some solo playing myself soon..offcam that is :) but! In the first round you should have used the 4 power so that you woulda gotten max out of the income rotation! ;) No need to save those 4, coulda grabbed money since thats always good for Hadchhalla ;)
@@kenlemottee7720 you can save it, but you see during the income phase for the second round, he had to waste two power cycling because it was already maxed out
@@OneStopCoopShop Yeah, I’m sorry, I know it’s been 4 years. :) I’m just learning the game with your video and kind of playing along. ;) At the above situation you gave the AI points for the endgame goal „buildings in alliances“ for a new building which isn’t in an alliance. ;)
@@OneStopCoopShop I just won my first solo game 103:87! ;) took some time, and the positioning of new mines is a bit fiddly and takes some getting used to, but I loved it! Also played the same constellation (which is suggested by the game). During play I also found a translation error in the german copy which made the automa handling extremely confusing. It seems no one has found that one so far. The English version is more precise here… TL;DR: your Playthrough helped me a lot, as always. Keep them coming Colin! ;)
I have been looking in the rule books and online for days trying to find out how to gain 5 VP for building your institute. I can’t seem to find it anywhere could you please refer to what page in the rule book please and thank you.
Hey Colin, one question: At 35:23 we can see all the planets you marked with white cubes as possible locations for the automas new mine. They must be in range 2. Theres one white cube on a white planet, near the center of the board, between the "03" and a black planet. Is this supposed to be there, am I missing something? Still learning the rules, so that's possible! ;-) Just asking to be sure. I know, it's been 4 years now, but maybe someone can help out here. ;-) Greetings from Germany!
Awesome playthrough. This has become one of my favorite games. The more you play, the more the game really opens up with strategies. As far as any video criticisms, I am really just nitpicking but when it comes to power, I would try to stick to saying that you are charging power and not gaining power. Gaining power makes it sound like you are getting a new power token. Again, just nitpicking.
I am TOTALLY eating up this game right now. I can't stop thinking about it. Thank you for the clarification, I will be more clear next vid!! What round booster would you pick?
I am leaning towards the 2 gold and 1 QIC. Round 4 scoring tile is for upgrading to trading stations to get 4 points so I'd probably try and do as many as I could. Plus that would give you alot of credits for next round which goes with your faction and you can turn them into whatever you want.
Great video! Can‘t wait for the next one! Minor rules correction: When Automa passes it takes the round booster based on the icon of the support card, not the action card. I tend to do this wrong too every now and than and I really should know better....
Doesn‘t matter much. The reason for this is that in a real game you might have an idea of what booster your opponent might be interested in. Since the support card for the upcoming round is known, it simulates this knowledge (a bit).
I've sold both so I guess neither? Haha!! I think for a meatier game I'd say Gaia Project, for a more unique experience I'd go Anachrony! Hope that helps!
Well the thing is worker placement isn't my cup of tea, so I don't know I f a better type of game for this genre, BUT if you are looking for a great solo Space experience game Unsettled is where is at! It's a puzzle exploration game that I feel are incredibly well done! Hope that helps!
Yes it is very helpful! Thank you for your suggestion. I’ll look into that. I love your TH-cam videos of game play and reviews! I bought Nemo’s War because I enjoyed your play through so much! Thanks again!!
Of course well done. I still hate this game for its complexity as I'm clerrically challenged. Your video is perfect and better than the rest by far and anyone learning this game should just hunker down as your three videos are actually incredibly efficicient for learning this game. I'm onto part two after banging my head against the walls for days. What chance do I stand when a CPA is making mistakes right and left lol? If this is a "heavy" game then I'm happily going to stay a lightweight. I was being kind when I said I hated this game; right now its beyond loathing.
@@OneStopCoopShop Just did my last solo game probably in a while three days ago and my third one. I made a card holder to help me do the AI cards and just block out doing the wrong things that I might make a mistake with with those cards. A card holder made from an envelope maybe even a used one will work and sticking it to some cardboard take some of the strain off just not seeing the extraneous information. Pretty sure there was a post in here about doing your high scores on board game geek and really that is what this game is solo. I played solo to learn the game and now I’m ready to play multiplayer when the chance presents itself. Right now I’ve been acquiring apps on sale for reasonable prices to help in learning games. I’m hoping that will be like 100 times better than a solo of gaia. In gaia my limited experience the choices seem largely dictated by the situation and I hope that’s not completely the case in multiplayer. No app for this, but the sister game terra mystica has an app that I might eventually be dumb enough to try it; Hoping the online bookkeeping will free me up for that one. I guess if it goes on sale I’ll have to buy it. Great video and very glad to see your comment so viewers have a realistic expectation for the solo experience here.

Pretty sure range 1 means you don't have to say that extra qic on for that first Gaia planet. will have to double check, though. Also, was the ai's first mine within 3 of one of their systems?
Hi Man, no idea it has been too long since I did this playthrough, range 1 is adjacent, range 2 is two spaces away. I am assuming I setup the board correctly but you can always ask on BGG if something is unclear!
Id say take the rightmost round booster, thats 1,5 QIC basicaly and you are going to need range from what I can tell at this stage... overall tho well played! :D
The micro transactions will be expensive. FFG charged $15 per adventure pack. Neither model is economical. Anyways, you have inspired me to pull Gaia Project out this weekend. I better do it before Heroes of Terrinoth arrives. Am I getting carried away with Heroes?
Not getting carried away for sure! Gaia is a gem, simply a gem. I cannot wait to play it more. I LOVE how it works and how each faction is so different!

When automa have to choose a round booster (after pass it) you have to look on support card, not the action card. But, nothing that changes a lot.
