@@PepRex I’ve got a while 😃 I think the drama with Rolex will change when they open the boutiques and close the majority of the AD’s and supply might change , that might affect the whole luxury watch market. It’s just a fun game , certainly not worth losing sleep over
My local AD routinely keeps his more aggressive discounts to in-store only - not online - as the manufacturers / reps kept checking his online prices and pressurising him to remove discounts. Not sure how he conceals in person discounts but that's what he says he does.

I think you could even add TAG to the list... their new offerings have dried up on the Grey Market the last few weeks... JOMA has none of the new Aquaracer and when they did the discount wasn't huge on the Silver or Blue Dials... black yes...
Thanks for the heads up. I've been planning on pulling the trigger on a IWC perpetual calendar 42mm probably the stainless steel. If I understand you right I should keep my powder dry until after Christmas. Not a complete Breitling Fan Boy but I like that Mr Kern is cracking down a bit I think Breitling has to rebuild it brand a bit to stay on step with their competitors like omega and Tudor.
I am not a fan of Breitling, although I got the SuperOcean Heritage 2 a few months ago and that watch is absolutely gorgeous, I wear it more than SMP300 (which I also like a lot). The brand has to stand up because it delivers good quality.

I have to say Fed I think this is a good thing. We had a charity bake sale at work a few years ago and I made brilliant Oreo bun cakes they were brilliant. I dropped them off at the stall and told the sellers I didn't want my brand devalued so they weren't to be sold on the cheap. Imagine how annoyed I was when I walked along an hour later to find them flogging in their "any 3 cakes for a pound deal"
i recently purchased back in september a 42 mm breitling super ocean 42 mm with the white dial and blue bezel on a cruise ship. i had my eye on that particular model for awhile and on the cruise ship, no tax, and i got a 15% discount. i paid less new then i see them selling used.
I just bought my first Breitling , I also got a SO 42 but in black on the rubber strap, I also got 15% but I did have to pay sales tax so not quite the deal you scored but I am still very happy :-) Absolutely love the watch.

It looks like most of the luxury brands are cracking down on discounts. I was at an AD a few days back today is March 27 2022 and I was looking at buying a Navitimer they had on display. I asked what is the discount I was told no discount Breitling is not allowing AD's to discount. He told me same with Tudor the few he had and even Tag. He told me no inventory and that all luxury brands were following Rolex discount policy. I was also at Mayors here in Tampa 3 weeks ago, asked about discount on Omega Speedy. Was told sorry Omega is not allowing discounts to customers. They did not have a big inventory on Tudor, Omega, Cartier and yes No Rolex on display.

Until about 2 months ago, my local Omega boutique would offer %15 discount right off the bat on any watch. I got a call from them 3 days ago for the new Speedmaster Chronoscope and despite being a long time customer the refused to give me the %15 discount. Lets see how long they can keep without giving discounts.
Walk away a recession and higher inflation is coming in the new year. As Fed said the watch market is hot 🔥 now, but it will cool off next year. Don't buy into the heat

I tried to get a discount off an Omega and a Montblanc last week in Vegas. I couldn't get a discount and their cases were full unlike Rolex. I was dealing with a young saleslady in the Omega store but she said she couldn't give me a discount and I don't think she had the experience or discretion to do so. I have checked Delray Watches for the Montblanc Geosphere.
I can walk to an Omega AD near my house & buy whatever i want including the latest 007 watch. But Zenith is showing some empty cases & the Defy line is now a waiting list.
Federico, great advice on the current state of the watch market, and why it makes sense to buy from Delray Watch. One question that I would like you to clarify. Obviously there are Authorized Dealers, but I am also hearing there are distributors. Do the manufacturers ship to the distributors which then ship to AD's, or are the distributors in essence the Ad's who ship to outlets like Delray watch? Thanks for clarifying.
That's the very reason I buy direct from bespoke watch makers especially from German hand crafted watch makers... I don't want to wear watches from companies that make and sell 820,000, 100,000 or 60,000 watches a year giving them silly pet names that another people also have. It made sense buying them 30 years ago, not now.
They don't want to make discounts and they are increasing prices (Omega is shifting right into luxury), but salaries are stagnating... something is going wrong out there

Come on Breitling. There's no way I'm paying MSRP for a Superocean when I can get the same movement in a Tudor and have an extra ~1200 in my wallet. Even Omega, I can't fathom paying MSRP for them. I'm used to discounts on those two brands. IWC and Tudor are two brands I'll accept small or no discount. Otherwise, no I'm probably going to walk.
Omega won’t be offering discounts at all. They’ve seen how it devalues their brand perception and second hand values so get used to it. It does mean second hand values will be higher though because people will be no longer thinking I can get one a good bit cheaper than retail so you may have to pay retail but it’s worth more second hand. People are paying silly prices and behaving like their life depends on getting a Rolex so why would Omega give you a discount? Lots of people are moving on from Rolex as it’s all a bit sad now and Omega are doing very nicely out of it. The best way to save money with watches is to just have one nice watch and don’t buy anymore 👍🏼 just watch all the silly “ how to get this watch at retail “ videos and don’t take part.
This whole watch collecting hobby has gone way too far. We appreciate watches, buy at the end of the day, they're just watches - there's no reason why one should overpay for anything, and that includes watches!

Wait to see if Evergrande collapses and as a consequence the entire Chinese property market goes into the toilet setting off a worldwide chain reaction. Getting the hottest watches might not be such a high priority in this scenario.
It wont, they will get the support they need to avoid a crash. But a crash will happen sooner or later (worldwide, like 2008), the question is only when. I don't think it will be very soon, we still have some years to go.

You will think the introduction of smart watches with decrease the sales of traditional watches, but it went way up. You know what it is. Watch collecting. Before most people have only one watch, but a person collecting watches can easily have 20 watches each.
