In the latest instalment of the 100-head challenge, Tisch focuses on the portraits of Eddie, Wanye and Tuhoe. Tisch takes you through three key techniques for capturing likeness in portraits. You'll learn how to use a full range of tones to create depth and realism, with a special focus on the preservation of tone.
Next, Andrew demonstrates the construction process, applying the Loomis technique for accurate proportions and structure. Finally, he covers edges and line quality, showing how to create clear boundaries and refined details that make your portraits truly stand out. These practical steps will enhance your skills and help you capture lifelike portraits with precision!
The pencils Tisch is using are as follows:
Staedtler Mars Lumograph Pencils H, B, 2B, 4B
Staedtler Mars Lumograph Black Series 2B + 4B
YStudio Brass Clutch Pencil H, YStudio mechanical Pencil 0.7mm 2B

Hi Andrew! ❤ I look back many times when you made these ❗ I also like your drawings, but your paintings are what really grab me! I always look forward to your new painting videos ❗ do you like painting more?
Love to see the same subject matter featured in previous oil portraits resurface here in the drawing series! So interesting to see the comparison of approach between the two mediums. Awesome stuff as always, Tisch 🤙

You draw so beautifully. Thank you for the inspiration and sharing your expertise..
Hi Tisch
Joined your academy and also bought the book by Loomis for head and hands. Seen other artists refer to it and your reference clinched the deal for me sending for it. I’m mostly an animal artist but do like a landscape or portrait for a change but find a reluctance somehow to start a different subject. Hopefully your academy will change that but have already found your TH-cam most helpful. Thank you

Fantastic.
Only graphite is enough for finished artwork? is it worth like a main art medium?
❤- i always learn a lot from your videos. And i've beeb folloiwing for years. Thank you for sharing- do you have diwnloadable videos one could buy. From Europe- Denmark 😊
I have trouble understanding how Loomis works for ordinary faces which aren't divided into his idealised thirds. It can steal away someone's likeness. Does it still work if we move the horizons to match the person. What if they have one eye higher than the other? I can draw mostly recognisable people, albeit in a clunky fashion, I just can't grasp applying Loomis to irregular or non-average people.
Wow❤🎉
💯✅️💯
