Airbus A400M pulls off incredible loop

- Crowds were treated to a memorable flight demonstration at the 2014 Farnborough International Airshow in Hampshire, United Kingdom.
Plane enthusiast Tom Pipe captured this footage of an A400M performing some “backflip loops,” showing off exactly what the aircraft can do when pushed to its limits.
“Airbus test pilot flying the A400 into vertical climbs, then turning the aircraft right over on its back, inverted, before swooping back down, bringing the aircraft the level flight, completing the ‘loop’,” said Tom.

The Sun being as truthful as normal, a wing over no loop.
This aircraft has the ability to bank over to 140 degrees. This is what you see but from under giving false impression of a loop. Still impressive capabilities.
If you look closely enough you can actually see Tom Cruise hanging on the plane.

The title of this video throws you for a loop.
Fully agree I loved how the loop didn't happen that was totally my favorite part!!
So it's not a loop, what are you going to do about it?
OK, so he rolled out of the loop just before completing it but from where I'm sitting it looked like he started from straight and level flight rather than the usual shallow dive. A stunning performance from pilot and aircraft. I'm ex-RAF and I've never seen an aircraft of that size give such an amazing performance.
i remember seeing these performing at riat in 2017 and 18 when i went with the air cadets, incredible manoeuvrability for such a large plane. i think the term would be "overbank" turn as it went just beyond 90deg in the climb to turn 180 and descend out
It's amazing , so that makes a lie not a lie..
😲🤪
When the quiet kid sees something cool and describes it to tv reporter
the cameraman is doing a loop
Then you aren't ex-RAF. I'm ex-US Army and even I've seen C-17s do stuff like this all the time.
I was in a Hercules sim a good few years ago and the pilot wanted to try a loop.
We climbed to about 12 thousand feet, came down at a fair lick and pulled some g when the screens went blank.
Pilot turned to the guy running the sim and asked if that would get back to squadron. “In about ten minutes sir…”
Over torqued the engines and pulled all four props off the wings.
True story.
Yes, that was completely incredible. I simply refuse to believe that I saw a loop.
You didn't.
You didn't. You saw a maneuver called a Chandelle, an agressive turn.

Apparently someone doesn't know what a loop is, and no pilot will exceed the operation limits of that aircraft.
Jimmy. Many pilots have done this without an issue. Its not going last there limit
@@MrGamingBobo there are different operational limits for aircrafts. Even if you're not going past the structural limit (where things start ripping off the bird) going past things like elastic limits makes failure more likely for future for future flights and require inspections with possible replacements.
If it is rated industrial, and I am sure it is, some aerobatics are permitted. One guy does a show with a twin otter, for example. But I'm not sure about a true loop, which this was not. I don't know what Ne is here, but as a heavy, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to get to.

Air crew was called earlier that day to have two wheelbarrows at the airplane before the pilot and co-pilot arrived. They didn't understand why until the pilots arrived. They were amazed as the pilots unzipped the bottom half of their flight suits and rolled their balls into the wheelbarrows and commenced wheeling them into the cockpit.
INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE !!!
Not a loop, but impressive maneuvering for a big aircraft. Just wondering how close to tip stall it gets.
It is a wing over manoeuvre with a 180 degree change of direction. The very impressive bit is that the aircraft goes fully inverted at the top of the wing over!
The aicraft did no such thing! It was filmed from directly underneat. All manouvering was mostly horizontal.
@@brunobarata6884 Thank you for your helpful reply. I’d be interested to know though what manouevre you thought the aircraft flew! I will stand corrected though as I got a bit sloppy in my analysis. I have flown many thousands of wingovers in the last 24 years and can perform with ease a huge variety of them. I started in 1999 with wingovers to 90 degree bank angle and 180 degree course change. Then moved on to the classic military 135 degree bank angle and 90 degree change of course. You attack partially inverted at a target off one of your wingtips. I can also perform 180 degree and 225 degree bank angle (change) as I wish. This Airbus is virtually directly head on at 1:25-1:30. 1:36 it pitches into steep climb. 1:42 it rolls. 1:48 now moving right to left and fully inverted. 2:01 almost left to right now. I’d guess a total course change of about 250 degrees. So I was wrong the course change is close to 270 degrees not 180 degrees. I assumed too much and observed rather lazily. I still think an A400M inverted is impressive though. By the way although the pitching up into climb at 1:36 pulls several G’s the rest is essentially a zero G manoeuvre. Less stress than a barrel roll which has been done in a Boeing 747 Jumbo.
to all those saying that it was not a loop: that manoeuvre identifies as a loop, so try and be more inclusive
Incredible marvellous loops, this pilot is a master of the airflight!
