Years ago, I met a guy outside a cafe who was waiting around with a Moulton TSR. I talked to him about his bike, and he was super cool and let me ride it around the block. It was a super eye-opening experience to ride that design, comfy and nimble. I can only imagine an electric version would be even cooler. I realize aesthetics are always a downside for modified e-bikes like this though (the battery ruins the lines a bit).
When researching e-bikes I thought it was necessary to have the most distance possible. Three years on and my average ride is about 15km. My work commute is only 5km return. A person interested in a e-bike should think hard about how much they will ride and not how much they might ride. Sadly the family budget doesn't allow me to buy a second e-bike.
Very good point. Distance is great to have, but if most of your rides are pretty close than it isn't the end all of things too evaluate when finding the e-bike for you.
That is very expensive compared to buying a new TSRA8 and a Bafang mid drive and 15A battery. Interesting idea although the Bosch batteries are only 2, 3 or 4Ahr which is not going to take you far
Bosch batteries come in 4ah, 6ah and 9ah - we've found the range easily comes to 50-55km with the 6ah battery. Obviously it depends a little bit on the level of assistance you set it to (you can adjust it via the bluetooth controller on the handlebars, or the iPhone app). But feel free to come by in Cambridge or London for a free test-ride one day 😊

It's a tradeoff for sure. But the extra zip of the electric version is quite nice.

Yes, easily. I have a TSR fitted with a Rohloff Speed Hub. This one here has a 5 speed internal hub.
