Can you file a fdc for tbi with a secondary claim of migraines and another secondary claim from the tbi for PTSD? What’s the best way to connect it and get their higher rating the veteran deserves?
I have 10% rating from headaches after a head injury with possible skull fracture. Ive struggled since with various problems. I had no mri or evaluation for tbi, but looking back it is obvious of the change of my life. I feel as though i was overlooked and im not sure if there is anything i can do other than seek help for the symptoms. Ive been out for 20 yrs but ive had some medical documentation from my struggles. 10% is insulting when other people have much higher for hearing deficits.

I agree. A Chairforce veteran who has never left the USA getting 100% and a Army combat Infantryman deployed over a year behind enemy lines getting 10%. Sad
I know my response is late, but I was in the army for six years. I was an MP during service, one night I was chasing a guy down, caught up to him and ultimately he bashed my nose with his head. I had bilateral black eyes and a bloody nose. I was taken to the medics/doctor and they diagnosed it at the time as a “bruised nose”, and like you there was no MRI/Xrays taken. Afterwards it was noted that the septum was deviated(broken) and I began having multiple physical/medical issues( and over time behavioral issues).This was in the mid 1980’s when a TBI was unheard of. I was later chaptered out of the service after receiving an article 15 for misconduct. I went for VA ratings over the years and finally they figured out that I had incurred a moderate TBI that night that I was bashed in the face with that guys head. Long story short, yes you can get a rating and it isn’t that easy, but get your doctors to hear what happened to you and put it in writing. The verbiage the VA needs to see /hear is “more likely than not “ that it could have caused you to have a TBI .

Yeah the way people go is take the combine from mental and tbi. 70 sounds reasonable. But migranes you can get an extra 50. Since it’s rated under a different diagnostic code
you can get them to split them. you need too if you need aide and attendace. If u have head aches and your memory sucks. You better get on it. I already know im going to end up in a home one day or have to have a live in nurse. The VA likes to put them together to make it hard to get Aide and Attendance or SMC T/R . Keep a daily log of head aches and dum stuff u do. Cant find the remote because u can't remember where u put it. Write it down, got lost driving home, write it down. every day

All claims are different, so you may be able to receive a rating for TBI and a secondary rating for PTSD. It's also important to remember the VA’s rule about pyramiding. A symptom can only receive one rating. Therefore, for example, the VA could not consider headaches in your claims for both TBI and PTSD, even though they are a symptom of both. The VA is required to make rating decisions that are most favorable to the veteran. That means, if a group of symptoms can be rated under different diagnostic codes, the VA must rate them in whatever way results in the highest rating for the vet. Some conditions are presumptively connected to a TBI and should automatically receive compensation. I had a C&P exam and, among other things, I got the highest severity checked for memory and neurobehavioral faucets. Does this mean I’ll be rated at 100%?

@@BearInThePhillipines VA combined PTSD and TBI and put me at 70% which doesn’t seem right based on their own standards, but seems fair to me. My raw total is with all my stuff is 260% percent. VA math puts me at 96%, and they rounds up so I’m now at 100%. Also got P&T. Took about a year band half total to get all of this.
