Glad to see more informative videos! I like all your videos, I’ve learned a lot from you, just wanted to say thanks!
Glad if I can help!
Good fishing Fray and thanks for the info on the setup.
Looks my timing for vacation is gonna be good! Nice vid Fray!!
Great job brother nice setup in the pin and rod sightlines good times bro
Getting Up North Michigan for some fishing over next couple weeks myself. Nice fish. Nice reel. Best
Nice video. If your looking for something different to film smelt dipping will be starting up at the end of the month. Still some good runs to be had up on Superior if ya know where to look.
This is freaking me out. I've been running a blood run rod and colville real with Simms waders for a couple years now...great minds must think alike 😂
People with great money buy alike lol.
@@scottseifert4086 😂how about people with bad spending habits and an obsession with steelhead
Haha, nice!
i got a okuma rod simms waiters and a raven reel i baught it all myself
Heading out in just a few to hit the Huron River! Hello SPRING!!!
Good luck!
Dude where are u fishing I’m going to the Muskegon later and hopefully slay them
Do u put braid for backing on your Centerpin?
whats the action on the rod...slow or fast?
Where did you get your reel and rod and how much was it
Thanks for the walk through on your rod, not alot of people talk about the pole set up for a centerpin! I float but with a open face. My boyfriend has mastered a open face so for our anniversary I'm getting him a centerpin rod an reel, I'm thinking the okuma Sheffield for the reel. Cant go wrong with classic okuma... can ya?
It sounds like that is a decent reel for the price, Ive never fished one but I know guys who do
Just learning mine they ate i little tricky to use out of the book ,after @30 started to like it .Have you ever used nymph s on it .i was trying to use it on stocked trout like a euro nymphing style with 2 lively legs as dropper with a sucker spun /attractor think it possible, what do you think ?
Sometimes I will fish various flies with it under a float, it can work well
Thanks for the video and tips.....i am interested in what you used for backing, was it a matching colour to the centerpin, and what strength? I find it interesting how different the set ups are down east compared with where i am, in British Columbia.
I use fly line backing, 30 or 40 pound dacron usually. It is just for space on the reel, it never comes off the spool
@@FishFray Thanks. Nice looking set up. Keep up the great vids!
I just got my delta full purple with the same artwork
Hey love your vids keep it up
Thanks , lots more to come !
How do u know if your bobber is set at the right depth when fishing a deep hole?
Keep adjusting it until you find bottom....you have to take into account how much you slow down or trot your float
Keep it up.
Do you ever bottom bounce for steelhead with a spinning rod?
Yes, some holes you can't float fish so it works good
What coville reel is that or did u get it customized to your liking?
This is a colville trinity reel, it is not custom, I also have a paragon reel from him, neither are custom but I would recommend his reels
Very nice. Keep the videos coming brother!
**Question- Is there a reason you didn't fish any beads today? I'm trying to learn this steelhead game. Thanks!
its honestly preference, if you have spawn, go with spawn first then leading to bead, or vis-versa. or you can do bead leading into another bead. probably the thing that matters the most is color depending on water quality. beads...spawns.... hard/soft plastic beads....they all try to mimic fish eggs. its a matter of being able to present the bait(egg mimic) to trigger a bite. ive been out fished by people using just fly lures while i used spawn, and other times with spinner baits. location location location and presenting the bait properly is key.
I did fish some beads that day, just didn't happen to catch any on them. They are a great option this time of year too
I'm in Alpena. What area are you in?
Awesome video! Super helpful. What song?
I'm not sure, I use a music site called epidemic sound for all my music now
Nice video
Thanks !
Nice Trinity. Just had my Islander stealheader stollen along with All my tackle. Boys and girls keep your belongings close. Ran down stream to land a beautiful rainbow. Just so you know, lost the fish and all my shiat!! Love Danny's reels. The best. My next investment. will be saving for one. Hopefully with in the year. Big loss!!! Arghh
Forgot to mention my bud has a katana and the drag or clicker does the same thing. Just make sure you turn the knob all the way over it can catch inbetween the sprocket teeth and flip back to click mode... Nice setup brother!!
That's a huge bummer man! Sorry to hear that
Sorry to hear Tommy.... definitely gotta get past both plungers inside the clicker knob...also since I went with no play while clicker is engaged you need to lighty move the spool up or down to engage the clicker sometimes...
@@colvilleoutfitters3290 thanks for the Information. will be ordering a reel soon. Material things. I'm over it lol. Getting your reel. Tight budget. Wish I could pick one every reel in you lineup looks so nice!
What size of the rod, and could u let me know what kind of line are u using? D like to try the same ones in japan. Reel size also, please.
13ft 6-12lb rated rod, reel is 5.5 inch centerpin, 23 lb mainline 6lb leader
@@FishFray
Thank you for your reply.
Is the 13ft rod Spey rod? The type of flyrod cannot be found here in jpn.
Fray! we need link up my brother. lets fish
Good
Nice set up glad she has a good home ..your set up is very close to mine ..I taper down to size #4. Blood Run has the gear dialed in. Love seeing Michigan and New York products teamed up to deliver great results ...we gotta get out and do some filming
👍👍for sure man!
nice setup. Are u part of blood run now?
Fray - Where in Michigan are you from? I enjoy your videos. I’ve been trying to catch steelhead this year, but no luck after 8 times out. Trying to break the curse!
I fish the streams on the west side of Michigan, it has been tough fishing the last few weeks
Well it’s good to know that it’s not just me having trouble hooking them.
Lotta Bloodrun mentioned, Bloodrun Bloodrun Bloodrun....... That's a really nice pin reel though.
Colville reel,
Sweet reel dude, I live in Michigan too and I have a CPR Trichrome reel! Hit me up and we can go steelhead fishing sometime

Sure Fray, blame it on the GoPro. LOL. How many pins do you own?
Haha, I have 2 now, this and my Raven
Fish Fray
That’s awesome. You can never have too many. I own 3 pins. All get some fishing time.
Rippin em off redds in the back if holes😂
I hope this is a joke bud
Looks like my spot on the pm
Ice fishing tomorrow😎
I like how your pin setup costs more than my car.
Nsthan Vue 1st you sir need a better car...
Haha, I got a good deal on the rig
Fish Fray you deserve it dude. You fish tons! I have a colville sitting on a closer in my drift boat I have a payment on and fish way less than you lol.
are u near petoskey
Kinda sorta
I am and if this isn't the jordan which im sure its not and its definitely not the boyne this is no where near petoskey.
@@kyleand85 We still have a lot of snow up here, so he's no where near Petoskey. No stretch of the Jordan looks like that. He's further south.
@@MichiganGoneWild I live in the village of walloon. Snows going quick though haha.
First !! Lets go
Nice!
lmao bro. why do we have the same dam net lol
It's such a good net for the price ! Breaks easily though, I'm on my 3rd lol
@@FishFray low key, it's honestly the best net I've found so far that is deep enough for steelhead and light enough to carry around. I'm heading down from school to fish this weekend! Hopefully I see ya out there! Tight lines
@@rickiex what net is it?
Is this a blood run commercial? Lol
NaturalAngling seems like it!
They make everything I use for float fishing from the rod down to the hook, I'm only recommending what's best in my opinion
I was one of the first Steelhead prostaff for them me and Kyle McClelland. Back when they had the first float lines.
It's hard not to mention them considering they make everything I use from the float to the hook and everything in between.
I also have a colville reel with blood run 12 gauge no problems with it
Colville doesn't make reels. He just sits around smoking alot of dope and comes up with 20 different porting options and a bunch of dumb names for the same basic reel. He has zero involvement in the actual production of the reels. I'm not sure who's actually making them now but he's had atleast 3 different builders. Hopefully the quality has improved because I've seen some pretty questionable work
Lol, the guy is a complete and total pothead, but you gotta respect it
What's wrong with being a pot head? It's legal in quite a few states now, Also some people literally smoke instead of man made perceptions.. no need to walk all over a guy becuse he smokes a doobie.😒
