I read somewhere that this song was written in light of America's darkest hour. It was Ireland's way of telling the US, "If you need us, we're here and willing". I'm referring to the Darkest Hour as being 9/11. I cannot listen to this song without tearing up. Because we'd do the same for our neighbors across the pond in Ireland. If you need US, we're willing.

'O, America!' was written by Brendan Graham and William Joseph exclusively for Celtic Woman. It has been a highlight of our current 75-date Isle of Hope US concert tour. As our youngest member Chloe explained at a recent concert, "'O, America!' is a dedication to you to thank you for being the first country to embrace us as Celtic Woman. @@claireforestgreenorgangeek7882 Yes, but "america" is not. it is a continent. Prior to about 1900 citizens of this country tended to refer to it as "Columbia" which is why D.C. is named the way it is. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbia_(name)

Really ought to be added to our national songs. My gg grandparents left Ireland, Cork county. Found homes in Indiana, Chicago North Dakota, where my great gram married into my indigenous family. Ojibwe/Sioux, Metis.& finally settled in Minnesota. Proud of all my heritage...still filling in some of my Irish familial blanks. Don’t know much of their lives in Ireland.

Thank YOU for this comment! I feel the same way you do. I fear for my countries' future, and this song literally makes me forget that fear and replaces it with nothing but comfort. God Bless this great country, and may he continue to bless it. Especially during the hard times.
I feel the same as you guys, I love this country so very much, and I have for as long as I remember. America is changing; it is not the same America I spent my childhood in, and only we, The American People, can put America back on track. God, may you continue to shed your grace and mercy on this great nation.
@@sanjuro66 yeah, personally I find that one especially moving since the best version of it, the one done by Ray Charles, is from a guy whose "people" were among the ones worst treated. Thank you, Thank you ever so much. You bring tears to my eyes. What beautiful talent these ladies have. They sing this with real feeling. God bless the Irish and all the people of the British Isles.
Irish people aren't British mate. Northern Irish is a different case, they're with us, but the rest of Ireland aren't part of the British Isles. They want to be, but we don't let them.
+KnightoftheLord1 ds No on said the Irish were British. Ireland is part of the so called British Isles. That does not mean they are part of the British Common Wealth. One is geographical the other political.
+KnightoftheLord1 Did you push the continent away from the other Islands that comprise the British Isles??? I still see Ireland in the vicinity...maybe you didn't have a pole long enough.
As an American of Scottish descent, I love my country and am proud of my heritage. Celtic Woman's rendition of "America" moves me just as much as Lisa Kelly singing "Caledonia".
This song was written under a prophetic eye. It's relevance has never been more clear. Our nation has come under attack from within and Patriots are going to have to marshal together to remove the enemy. Thank you Celtic Woman, we love you all.
Oh geeezzzz can you enjoy the song without politics. you are right America has an enemy Within look in the mirror. you scream patriotism and a song that will move any American no matter what political affiliation they are no matter what religion or race they are, whether they were military or always a civilian. instead of coming together in this moment you make a comment to incite division. well I guess Division and Truth is better than Unity under a lie. So my question is what makes you more American than me? and just to be Devil's Advocate I will be everything opposite (except a homosexual I don't roll that way) of you and still born in America. what makes you more American than me? those who often scream about patriotism have never had to fight for right in America have never had to suffer from the imperfections of America and still love this land. I can say that I love America but it's people like you I don't like so please don't believe that you are everything America stands for because you don't speak for all of America.

I used to... but America has had too many problems lately. The unpresident (who must not be named) did not respond to the pandemic. Mass shootings happen and they SHOULD NOT. And now the air quality disaster.
I'm not American, but this song brings me to tears to think what may be again in the near future. Darkness can always be changed by light - it is a simple yet profound truth. Be well everyone!
BEAUTIFUL!!! I SO WANT TO FEEL PROUD OF MY COUNTRY AGAIN. WILL ANYTHING EVER GET BETTER.
I am of Irish Ancestry. Plus, I am a very proud American. The beauty of this song says everything that I stand for.
As an Irish-American....this is a beautiful song.....I'm a veteran and very proud of my Irish heritage too.....🤘🤘🤘🤘
I have never heard this song before. ITS BEAUTIFUL! From the bottom of the heart of a very proud American, THANK YOU CELTIC WOMAN!
Absolutely gorgeous
This song is so beautiful. My grandfather was from Scotland, and we had this played at his funeral because we felt that it reflected his own personal story and how he felt about America. I really miss him.
Irish songs are the most beautiful according to myself I love Irish, America the best greetings from Indonesia.
L love this song. I cry every time I hear. I cry. I know they're performers, but I want to believe they believe what they're singing. I've seen some of them in interviews and they affirm what I believe. I love these girls and their music. God bless and keep them....
Celtic Woman was my first concert at the Kravis Center in Florida. It was and still is my favorite concert ever. It was around my birthday and Chloe waved at me. We had third row tickets. I'll never forget it.
O, America you're calling,
I can hear you calling me:
You are calling me to be true to thee,
True to thee... I will be.
O, America no weeping,
Let me heal your wounded heart.
I will keep you in my keeping,
Till there be... a new start.
And I will answer you, and I will take your hand,
And lead you... to the sun:
And I will stand by you... do all that I can do,
And we will be... as one.
O, America I hear you,
From your prairies to the sea,
From your mountains grand, and all through this land,
You are beautiful to me.
And... O, America you're calling,
I can hear you calling me:
You are calling me to be true to thee,
True to thee... I will be.
And I will answer you, and I will take your hand,
And lead you... to the sun:
And I will stand by you... do all that I can do,
And we will be... as one.
O, America you're calling...
I will ever answer thee.
Songwriters: Brendan Graham, William Joseph Schwartz Iii.
Born and raised in America and all this country has been through, we appreciate people like this to dedicate such a beautiful and meaningful song to our country. America has always and will continuously fight to be free and truly love our beautiful country. There is more here than one could ever imagine. Thank you so much for singing this great song.
GOD BLESS AMERICA! GOD BLESS IRELAND!
This song makes me feel connected to my Irish ancestors and my native ones here. I am proud and happy to be from both lands. Xo 💚❤
Lindas
Same! ❤❤
Beautiful just beautiful America 🇺🇸 needs this song sung out across the land.
A strong America assures peace in this world. Thank you Celtic Woman for this beautiful song for a country that has helped the world through two world wars.
Love this song, I am American. I now living in Ireland for college for the next 2 1/2 years. As much as I love Ireland and do have some roots here. America will always have a special place in my heart and it will always be My home!
CELTIC WOMAN IN 3 WORDS:
Heartwarming - Breathtaking - Otherworldly
thank you Celtic Woman for this timeless serenade of one nation to another nation, the United States of America. You pledged your unconditional solidarity and support, clearly written and sung, at the end of this beautiful hymn: " O, America you're calling...I will ever answer thee."
Yeah,Those Gals`re Class Acts!!!
This song is my favorite song I love my country how men and women fought for the right to be free from both a king and the civil war to set people free. God bless America 🇺🇸 may God restore her to her former glory serving him and protecting its people.
1st time hearing this. As an American. Rare that any other country shows it cares. Awesome song Thank you.
This song gives me goose bumps.
Every American should listen to this song
Watching the woman of this group Celtic Woman makes me smile inside and feel the love in their voices touch a part of my soul I thought was buried and forgotten. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world and know I have been hit with a new spark of love for my heritage and family and friends Thank you ever so much
"heritage" can be kind of complicated, but when you talk about the music striking a chord somewhere inside you, I am there with you on that.
You can always prevent the hatred the injustice the corruption by loving one another with no more enemies not only in America but anywhere in the world.. Once we ALL can accomplish and i know it's like a big tall mountain then we will live in PEACE for ALL human beings!!!
The drums the bagpipes most awesome music in the world in the backdrop the props is so beautiful
WHAT A STUNNING TRIBUTE! THEY ARE AMAZING.... would love to see them....
This is the best lineup Celtic Woman ever put together. So beautiful and their voices blend so well.
I believe the original four to be the best female vocal group ever assembled, but you need to add Lynn and Alex in order to have the best Celtic Woman vocalists.
Jim I have said the same thing but people think I'm a dumbass but I know what I'm talking about
Don't forget the beautiful and very talented Meav---one of the original group.
As I listened, I imagined that it was God's angels singing about His promise to be with us always and help us always. It reminded me of the Bible verse that says, "when we are faithless, He is faithful." Lord, come and be with America on this night. We had two more mass shootings last night and we need to feel your healing hands. Heal this land Lord. 🙏
What a beautiful song my goodness these ladies are so beautiful and have such a beautiful voice
Doesn't matter how often I watch this... it always brings tears to my eyes. God bless these wonderful gals.
Very beautiful and heart felt!
I saw them do this in Charleston,S.C. The audience erupted after they were done. Such a beautiful powerful song for our great country by these beautiful talented people from Ireland. I hope the Celtic Woman continue for another Decade and beyond. We need this Beauty Glenn Augustyn
Thank You, Deep from within my Heart for this Wondrously Warming Tribute to my Beloved Country!
So beautiful and needed at this time .... thank you
oh my gosh, it made me cry, it's so beautiful. i've not heard anything they have done that has not been. They deserved the standing ovation for sure.
They are an outstanding group, unmatched by any other
Most people don't know the actually "theme" of this song...It was an irish song that was written when we asked them for help during time of need and they responded and guided us "to the sun", so thank the irish for this beautiful song.
'O, America!' was written by Brendan Graham and William Joseph exclusively for Celtic Woman. It has been a highlight of our current 75-date Isle of Hope US concert tour.
As our youngest member Chloe explained at a recent concert,
"'O, America!' is a dedication to you to thank you for being the first country to embrace us as Celtic Woman. We feel as though we are part of your family now and for that we are very honored and proud. You are our true inspiration!"
It was written as a thank you to the American people
@@JELA78 Thank you so much for cleaning up the disinformation.
While the OP description sounds more intriguing, I'd rather know the facts than believe in fairytales.
He probably got this song mixed with another song.
@@junglemom1263 . . . the opening trumpet melody ? ? it have been used before ? it is sticking in my head and driving me insane. . . . mainly because I am a band director of 32 years, band member of 45 years. This piece would be a standing O at a Veterans Day performance.
May the gods bless our countries🇮🇪🇺🇸May the gods bless us! This song makes my heart swell with pride & warms my heart with love. May the gods bless Ireland & America!
Yesterday I went to their concert in Houston. I cannot express with words the excellent level of these amazing singers and its team of professional dancers and musicians! Thank you!!!!!!

The above lyrics are inaccurate.
The fifth line says "O,America no weeping" but correct lyrics are "O,America you're weeping".
Thanks
Bravo! Brings tears to my eyes! God bless America!
I gasp when any song is sung about the best country in the world. GOD BLESS AMERICA! Wonderful tribute by a fantastic group.
i'll bite, what exactly makes the USA the "best country" and upon what basis do you choose those criteria?
incidentally "america" isn't a country, it's a continent which all of the countries there, have an equal claim to the name of it.
@@tracyavent-costanza346 The United States of America IS a country...on the *continent of North America.*
@@claireforestgreenorgangeek7882
Yes, but "america" is not. it is a continent. Prior to about 1900 citizens of this country tended to refer to it as "Columbia" which is why D.C. is named the way it is.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbia_(name)
@@tracyavent-costanza346 Oops, I always forget that. Me & my brain fog!
Masterful...gave me chills and left me with the impression of greatness. The lead singer has tone, mastery of inflection and just a really fine set of pipes! WOW!
Irish folk, were the first free people... the first to have, and to enjoy their freedom. Through deceit, and chicanery, Ireland lost it's freedom... and then came America.... and the Irish knew what they had to do. God love them, every one.
we had this song for choir and it was absolutly stunning
i got the solo btw
“From your mountains grand, and all through this land, you are beautiful to me.”
Those where the hardest notes to hit
And the Celtic Woman take the cake
For my brothers who fell Nex to me on that terrible day 1/7/67. May this music be heard in Heaven, where all the Broken Soldiers go. I am proud of each one of you and someday we will ride across the valleys of Valhalla, brothers and warriors once again!
Robin Donka...that is so beautiful; I'm crying.

Thank you for serving in Vietnam!🗽🇺🇸
thank you for your service. 'nam vets still kind of get ignored, but that's what propaganda does when we at home don't object to it.
What a unique and wonderful rendition of this common song!. These Celtic ladies have woken again our hidden love for this great country!
This song is NOT a common song. It was written FOR Celtic Woman. Others have now sung it... but these ladies sang it first.
Absolutely awesome and very well done!!!🇱🇷🇱🇷✝️✝️✝️👏💓👏👏👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🌹❤️💓💕
this song made me cry, we are singing this in choir and i burst out in tears everytime i hear it!
Truly a beautiful song, song by very talented women. Cheers! I'd give them a "Grammy" just for this song alone.
So beautiful!!! They have such beautiful voices. God bless them.
As a Canadian, I love this song...
I don't know the words to say THANK YOU and I am still crying. I love my country so much and I know that it is in trouble. The words of the song feel as if they are being torn from my heart. Thank you for the blessing of hearing your beautiful music.
Thank YOU for this comment! I feel the same way you do. I fear for my countries' future, and this song literally makes me forget that fear and replaces it with nothing but comfort. God Bless this great country, and may he continue to bless it. Especially during the hard times.
Playing this along with Ray Charles "America the Beautiful" brings a sense of pride and comfort
I feel the same as you guys, I love this country so very much, and I have for as long as I remember. America is changing; it is not the same America I spent my childhood in, and only we, The American People, can put America back on track. May we always stand by God, who is the very foundation and cornerstone of this great country, and may he continue to bless us, forgive us, and help us with our decisions and make them as righteous as possible. God, may you continue to shed your grace and mercy on this great nation.
Sean Vadney May God bless Yall and keep you. Semper Fi
@@sanjuro66 yeah, personally I find that one especially moving since the best version of it, the one done by Ray Charles, is from a guy whose "people" were among the ones worst treated. Yet he chooses to "see" the good side of the coin, even as a blind man. Perhaps he sees things that sighted people manage not to notice.
Beautifull...
One of the most beautiful songs about America, I hope every American gets a chance to listen to it.
Charlie B. They're not part of the British Isles, we cut them off. :)
+KnightoftheLord1 Did you push the continent away from the other Islands that comprise the British Isles??? I still see Ireland in the vicinity...maybe you didn't have a pole long enough.
Lisab843 Unfortunately they're still neighbours of ours, but we disowned the island many years ago.
As an American of Scottish descent, I love my country and am proud of my heritage. Celtic Woman's rendition of "America" moves me just as much as Lisa Kelly singing "Caledonia".
I'm so proud to be a part of the must beautiful land in this world.. America.
Growing up after 9/11 with my father in the retired reserves I hate the big anniveries like last month but This song means the world to me.
Happy St. Patrick's Day from Boston Massachusetts USA
This song was written under a prophetic eye. It's relevance has never been more clear. Our nation has come under attack from within and Patriots are going to have to marshal together to remove the enemy. Thank you Celtic Woman, we love you all.
I posted it on FB for that reason.. we are losing America.
Absolutely beautiful! In every way, this entire concert is so soothing to the soul, so peaceful and perfect!
Man, coming from an american this means a lot. Great to hear the support and appreciate it a ton. Goes without saying we're with ya'll whenever, whatever
Just amazing...👍
