Tim, as this old man approaches the start of his 8th decade, I can report for all the incredible roads, amazing views and even thrilling experiences, nothing is more interesting than... …….. people. Everyone of us is the compilation of tens of thousands of experiences and challenges that mold and shape us and in interacting with others we can be amused, inspired, humbled and challenged. Glad the miles on the road are taking you to a better place beyond "the scenery". Travel safe!

    Good morning, Tim!
Three things struck me about your vlog today.
First, it’s amazing to me that in spite of your social anxiety that you could be such a positive example of pro-social behavior to so many. Secondly, you have no idea that you sharing your catharsis with us, could be so inspiring and so helpful to many of us. I don’t just mean the trip, but even your book and lead up to the trip. You sharing with us is one of the best parts of the human condition. Social anxiety aside, you stand as a positive example for so many people. You frankness and honesty put you into the category of being on what Joseph Campbell would call a “Hero’s Journey.”
Thirdly, but no less important, you have made me realize that I can have a deep sense of friendship and kindredness to someone I never physically met! Thanks for being out there!

You just raised it another notch, Tim. Getting to see the beautiful places you're riding through would be enough to warrant all the subs you have, but your eloquence and honesty while sharing your personal journey alongside the geographical one makes this TH-cam gold. Really. It's quite some ride! Thank you so much and all the best.

Tim, I just recently discovered your channel and have been thoroughly impressed by the quality of the content that you are producing. Your videos have inspired me to do more long distance traveling on my motorcycle and I love it. Just like you, I am a bit of an introvert and now that I’m traveling by myself on the bike has given me the freedom to enjoy life, and I’ve never felt more fulfilled. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Hello Tim, I bought and read your book. Couldn't put it down. The progress you have made is fantastic. Whatever you believe in bless you. I, too, have an irrational social anxiety. For me it is an irrational fear of strangers. To overcome this fear a couple of years ago I became an Uber driver. Wow. Talk about out of the comfort zone. Pick up stranger. Take stranger to location of THEIR choosing. Drop stranger off. I did this for a couple of months and garnered a 4.98/5.0 rating from my passengers! It was therapy for me. Anyway, just thought I would share that. You are doing great. Keep it up!

Must say that what John DeCarlo said is the same as I would have if I could have articulated all that as well. :) The other thing is, as an introvert (never been married, and living alone now since 1980) what is true for me is: the advantages are: that I don't NEED to be with someone. I do like to connect with friends once in a while, but I do it for them, not for me. Introvert means: lots of time to ponder things, meditate, keep centered, relax, or work as long or short as I want or need to, to read, watch you tube like this or a rare movie, help neighbors build a garage, recently, took a year, or similar things. and play a favorite video game.
Keep it up Tim, you are doing a lot of good and we so much appreciate that.

I'm bipolar and tour a lot which is a form of therapy that quite works for me along with the usual meds for this condition. I found anxiety to be a common trigger for emotional pitfalls. Reducing my coffee intake, eliminating alcohol and sucking on a vape sometimes has helped a lot. Making connections with people IRL is extremely important too...social media has limitations and can be a trap. Connection is key. I know when I'm hanging in my tent too long I need to change it up. That's just me though.

For me this seems to work when I get anxiety, I try to get back into mindfulness by using my 5 senses: for sight, what are 5 things I can see, and say what they are by name; for hearing, what are 5 things I can hear, and say what they are by name; for smell, 5 things I can smell, etc for taste, and touch. This helps me get out of the repeating negative thoughts, and back to the present. As always, thanks for sharing. Blessings!

Hi Tim, Been away from cell reception for a while, I was glad to see a couple of your videos in my notifications when I returned to "civilization". Seems to me that many folks who ride, are the type of personality who is more comfortable alone than in a crowd. I am speaking of the longer distance riders. No offense to anyone, but the folks who hop on their bikes on a Saturday morning or Friday night to ride a few blocks or even a few miles to their favorite watering hole so they can show their bikes, ankle tats and leathers are not usually distance riders. Different crowd and more power to them. Maybe it is because they are trying to make a living the rest of the week, or just have other interests. But, the people who ride, camp and seek quiet solitude are usually more loners. They can force themselves into social situations and do quite well, but in my case, that is only for a limited duration and I am so glad that, once removed, I can "breathe" again. Thanks for such a introspective look into the "mind of Tim" and saying so eloquently what I (and others) experience. Regards. Inspiring work.

hi Tim great vid as usual, and I can relate to anxiety very well, I am a musician an getting on stage for the first time is pretty nerve jangling, but if you do your job well the applause is quite addictive. and the stage doesn't seem to be so scary. how ever unfortunately, life has a way of throughing some s*&t your way and dealing with a partner of 18years that has be screwing around. is no walk in the park..but your words of encouragement keep me on the right track and knowing what you've been through yourself just fill me with hope..keep up the good work babe. hopefully see you when you come to Europe. x

If you pay close attention to what triggers your feelings of anxiety, Tim, you will find that it's a particular thought or set of thoughts. And more often than not, the triggered emotional response becomes automated and habituated just from being repeated a number of times. A simple act of meditation can remedy that, Tim. And the more you practice it, the less your thoughts have the power to automatically trigger an emotional response. Anapana is a good example of such a simple mediation practice. As long as you are able to breathe, the practice will reap its rewards. What do you have to lose but the anxiety, Kemosabe?

My trip got cancelled due to health issues. So you remind me to go do it next summer.
I have never had a bad experience on long trips. And as you say the few challenges we come across are handled easily. I find I end up finding a solution easier than I thought it would happen. These help to build self-confidence and a sense of self-worth.. I always found other people are so open and helpful on trips so I never truly am alone even when travelling alone.

You're doing great Tim, keep it up, I'm having anxiety too and I'm still here fighting, I just had an accident and I am still not giving up to the black ideas inside my head. You will be fine time heals everything just keep the positive attitude :)

Hi Tim, great channel! I totally recognize myself in your situation. Might be that you are an hsp too (highly sensative person). If so, there are a lot of great things about it!! At the moment I'm waiting for my bike to be delivered and then I can go on my first adventure myself, looking forward to it! :)

I agree, there are lots of benefits to feeling everything too much, like the good stuff is so much richer. Great point my friend, something I do not always consider is the other side of the anxiety coin is that everything feels more intense. Good luck on your adventure!

I feel like the life is being sucked out of me in a large group of people. I avoid big group things and ride alone or with one person and love it.

I had thought I was in a pretty small group of people classified as "social introverts" and it appears it's not so uncommon. I seek social engagement for short spurts then need my some to be alone and charge my batteries. It seems we share more that just a passion for motorcycling. Thanks for the open view into your life.

My son was taking a prescription pill for anxiety- he switched to a water soluable CBD that he drinks, the American Shaman brand made from hemp grown in Norway.
