I didn't have and friends with me this time. I got on top the lift with safety break, no inspection, which is an unsafe way of lift surfing. But as it is a Schindler Miconic I trusted it. Also I did several safety breaks when trying to get it in the right position to get on top, since all the floors are locked. But safety break, no inspection is still a very bad way to get on top. Safety break, Inspection = The only safe way to get on top. No safety break, inspection = VERY UNSAFE as safety break was not verified. You do not know if the lift is safe. Safety break, no inspection = Unsafe as you do not know the lifts routine after safety break and you could be trapped if inspection doesn't work. Testing it first makes it safer, but not safe. No safety break, no inspection = This is a possible method for lift surfing experts only. The lift doesn't know you are on top and runs like nothing happened. You can not rely on anything working, so it is for busy lift only, because if the lift stops out of reach of the door rollers it is unsafe to put it on inspection if inspection is not verified, but if you verify it first then it is safe.
Maciej Budzyński Maciej Budzyński true, but if it doesnt serve those floors why it doesnt write EZ like in otis elevators. Schindler dont use EZ? Or previously it serves those floors? I inspected some high speed elevators in downtown st. Louis. 4 cars in the hoistway. 1200 fpm looks fast, but it's actually less than 15 mph. It seems fast because the car and counterweights are right next to you.
Vertical speeds are not stated in mph because a vertical speed is not compatible to a horizontal speed. I don't understand why americans use feet per minute, surely feet per second would be easier.
