I started with a blank portrait post design - but once you hit the 'duration' button at the bottom it gives you a timeline view so you can work with it pretty much exactly as if you started with a video format. I saw the new captions app! 🎉 That is so good, but so far it doesn't allow for much customization unfortunately...but I've no doubt that will all be possible soon! Thanks for being here 🖤

I'm so confused about! For instance on the first design with the video, do you add additional slides to make the carousel? Or is it just the one slide? Is a carousel basically just up to 10 images/slides that upload to IG?
Hey Monica! A carousel in IG can be up to 10 slides - and the slides can be images or video. These ideas are ways to make those slides/videos more engaging - you could use as many (or as few) as you like within your carousel.
Hey Andreas! I have just checked in the new Canva dashboard, and when you are inside a design in Canva, you can still go to FILE > SETTINGS > SHOW RULERS & GUIDES and drag a guide onto the page. Also if you are inside a design the SHIFT+R shortcut still works. Give it a try!
Yup - that's the size I used. 😊 If you start with a something that doesn't show the timeline, on the bottom left (underneath your design) you can click where it says 'DURATION' and that should allow you to see your pages in the timeline format, and then you can just export as a video. You can also just start the design with a custom size video template, or use the "MAGIC RESIZE" and change your design into a video format.
Whenever you have an animation or animated element on a carousel slide in Canva, you would have to export it as a video (mp4) to be able to upload to instagram. So that could be one long video, or a short video for each slide of the carousel. If you export each slide as a video, you can then upload them exactly as you would upload individual images for each carousel slide. Or you could export the whole thing as one long video, and upload it as a 'video post' in Instagram.
Has anyone tried the last example? Canva separates the “handle” from the image when creating the custom animation despite it being grouped with the image. Tried so many without transparency, double-checking it’s grouped, but Canva will only animate the handle and not the group :(
Hey ElieBeth! I'm sorry your having trouble gettig this to work. Two suggestions that may help - select group using the 'layers' panel and then click on 'animate' before you click and drag - sometimes Canva selects just one element of the group when you click on it. The other option is to move your group into the centre of the 'page' and add your peek animation, and THEN move it off to the right. The animation is relative to the object, not the page, so that should also work. I hope that helps.
I am afraid I am sure why that would be! It may be worth checking that your video doesn't start with a white screen - maybe IG is grabbing a still that is blank? Sorry I can't be of more help but I have not seen that happen before! 🤔
Do anybody have such a problem : when I upload mp4 video from Canva in instagram carousel, it appears first seconds upwards , inverted vertically , and I don’t know why is it happens :( so actually each video in my insta carousel, first second looks very strange 😢
Havign ADHD this open sidebar with all the animation is (in lack for a better word) really triggering. Please close something like that the next time, I had to put up paper to hide it! :)

when I posted the mp4 exported animated post in Instagram. It would has a preview of blank image. Why is this? :(
