I bought gta 4 when it first came out, ran horribly on my at the time, core 2 duo + 512mb 4850 (I think, can't recall 100% there), I stopped playing it right around where you get the first girl friend. I then decided to give it another go a couple of months ago on my now 7700 + 6gb 1060, ran acceptably. Had to wait over 10 years to finally play this thing.
You have to use commandline to even make it run normally on today's hardware, on more than 2GB VRAM GPU it glitches out graphics options so you can't change anything because it thinks your video memory is always overloaded. I mean, at least I had this issue in both tested GPUs - Radeon RX 480 4GB and Geforce GTX 1080 8GB

But once you get it working its not too bad, except its probably the least consistent performance I've seen in any game ever and it barely touches my gtx 1080.i could easily get 200fos maxed out if it took advantage of it
I have to add my experience to this. I have one found a scammer that sold hd5770 (with scam benchmarks) I used 3 accounts to buy 3 of them, than got my money Back And took their Page Down. (so i got 3x 5770 for free!) (gave them to my friends that didn't have dedicated gpus in their computers) So i scammed a scammer!
Same with the rebadged scam cards. Some can just be flashed with a correct BIOS and run fine afterwards. Then take the scammer down, get your money back and have a free card.

The same thing happened to me with some car parts. I ordered a set of tail lights, only to find out that they were likely QC failed lights or some knockoff 3rd shift lights. Sent them back and was promptly blocked. I go to order from another seller, only to find that I have been blocked from them as well. There are lots of sellers out there with many accounts, artificially inflating the presence of their products. This is either not allowed by eBay or somewhat of a grey area, but eBay doesn't care as these sellers pay their seller fees and listing fees.
12:52 Did you just mention the HD3450? That card can get 30fps in both CS GO and GTA 5, but you have to use 240p resolution in both. The 3450 absolutely won't hit anywhere near those benchmarks, if the seller is using the same benchmarks as what he posted for the 4890.

As someone who owns a HD4870 and played Borderlands 2 and Crysis on it, I pretty much agree, those titles pretty much perform as expected. And I'd love to get a HD 4770 and 4830 and compare how they do nowadays. (The 4830 being a replacement for the 4770 to increase yield of RV770 chips and because of manufacturing cost. Same with the 4730 and 4670) Oh a 2nd 4870 to test some Crossfire fun.

I've seen more than one drop-ship scam, so I asked him where he lived. He confirmed it was Azerbaijan. I informed him it was against eBay policy to post a drop-ship address, then blocked him from any future bids. Sellers are at a serious disadvantage, and there are lots of bullshit artists slithering around.
curious if these older cards wouldn't perform better on Linux specially AMD cards as their drivers are still actively supported. With steam proton I see better performance on Linux using windows version of games its silly.
I see that you record straight off your monitor and I noticed there was some glare. I suggest you do a dual monitor setup with the two monitors mirrored and the second monitor in a dark box to prevent light from coming in. This should improve video quality for the programs that you can't screen record

If you have a i7 CPU why are you using these GPU cards, Minimum is a Ati Rx series, and R5 and R7 is they same (little bit updated) as these HD cards but the drivers are available for Linux and Win10 ?

Yeah Terrascale isn’t officially supported in Windows 10, you have to run the Windows 7 version with a compatibility mode enabled to get it to install on windows 10 (I was using the latest pro drivers, which are often supported for way longer, on the most powerful Terrascale and I think last one from AMD in 2007 for their pro lineup, the FireGL-V8650, and then later I used HD8490 which actually ran Crysis 3 even though it’s just a small office display adaptor). An older one I couldn’t even get running besides the default windows display driver (which was fine, as the X1300 was only a display adaptor anyways). Basically don’t use these, use the newer architectures. (Something like the HD7950 and newer would be fine, also obviously the RX 400+ series/Vega/XT all those are much newer as well and totally fine).
These scammers don't stop at nothing to earn a couple of quid. I just feel sorry for the people who buy these fake cards and how the scammers trick them into thinking they've got the real thing with fake benchmarks or flashing the BIOS on the card.
Can you test some of these old graphic cards in linux with DXVK. The open source AMD/ATI driver are very good and support all cards after the Rage series (1997).
The new Linux drivers with Vulkan support only work on GCN 2.0 and above (7790, 260/260X, 285-290X etc.) officially but can be enabled on 1.0 and 1.1 cards (7750, 7770, 7850-7970 240-250X 265-280X). I'd be interested in seeing some R9 285 benchmarks personally since it's kind of a forgotten card.
I don't understand how did GTA 4 ran so poorly on this card, if you see old videos of this card running GTA, you can run this on much higher settings, what went wrong?
You mentioned that the main market for these cards are for people running older OS's like Windows XP. Why would they use this card when cards like the GTX 700 series and 900 series exist with working official Windows XP drivers*? These cards, even the lower end versions, would blow these older GPU's performance out of the water as well as supporting everything up to DX11 at the very least. *with 900 series, by default XP drivers only support 950 and 960, but a quick installation inf mod and you can get the rest of the 900 series (970, 980 and 980ti) working.

A 10US$ HD5770/6770 can push almost all these games at 1080p 60fps (CSGO 200+)...
