Great video. My first thought was, "Man, he created my Christmas List." I wish this came out a month ago so I could send this to friends and family and say buy from this video. lol
Great kit and awesome list. Thank you!! I carry much of this same gear but I just can't seem to get it to fit into a Pelican case... I start loading up my just-in-case gear and it takes up most of a 1-Ton van. Haha I'll try the thin HDMI cables and see if that will help 🙂. But seriously, impressed, well thought out and you have obviously learned from experience and planned accordingly. Happy New Year. Just Subscribed.
Great video. Surprised you don't have the Lumanteks instead of the BMD Micros. I replaced all of our BMD Micros with the Lumanteks because of the built in screens, great for verifying signal flow and they also do scaling and frame rate conversions. Still keep the Micros around for when I run out of Lumanteks but the Lumanteks have been a game changer for us.
@liveproductionmastery The Lumanteks with the screens aren't Bidirectional. H->S and S->H. You gotta carry both. I use mine with PTZ camera's I run up in the truss. I place the converter down where I can see so I can trouble shoot easier.
@ True, they’re more expensive than the BMD Micros and you need both directions in your kit. But the BMDs I’ve found to be picky with HDCP handshake and they don’t do format conversion. So similar but different tools for slightly different situations. The BMDs are literally only for HDMI/SDI conversions while the Lumanteks are more like a micro Decimator. Having the screens means a ton when you’re in a hurry in live situations or have tons of sources all over the place and cables everywhere, it’s so handy to be able to instantly verify if you’re sending or receiving what you think you are.
I do mostly lighting stuff and I really like the proplex iq tester, it can test networks (sadly only up to 100Mbps) and analyzing what protocols are present (e.g. Dante, Artnet, sACN, OSC, PSN, ...) which is super usefull to troubleshoot bad vlan configs on a switch, show if PoE is available, convert Artnet or sACN to DMX, convert DMX to Artnet or sACN, receive Timecode, send Timecode, work with RDM capable lights (troubleshooting, addressing, ...), battery powered and rechargeable via usb-c but the best thing is that I do not need to carry three tools(network tester, dmx tester, dmx network node) to do the same job -> less space needed in my toolcase
Nice overview...I'll try to use your links for some of those more interesting cables you've found...You must have the Mary Poppins edition of the Pelican 1510
And here I thought Belden's double bubble SDI crimper cost was dumb. I think that was the only big variation you had to my own loadout. You should add an XLR sniffer!
Alright…. We see the car. Where is Q? Where did you hide the mad genius behind all your high tech gadgets and gizmos, you spy? What is your last digit, 00? Does M know you made this video? Which backpack turns into a jetpack rig for your after show escape? 🧐 🕵️♂️
Make sure you ONLY use Shielded or STP cat 5 or higher cables for the CAT boxes! They will only work if they are shielded, or you will have a very bad time.

I wachted the first minute and was like, how does he fit all of this in there, that's damm impressive.
You saved me days if not weeks of research + trial and error. Thank you helping me kickstart 2025
Same here. I'm building myself a new work box too so a lot of this is going on the list of stuff to get in there eventually

I will take a look! Thanks for the heads up!

Important to note that you cannot pass phantom power without a shielded Ethernet cable.
Happy New Year Brandon :-) Great Video to kick start 2025. Love checking out your latest gear kits. All the best for 2025 Buddy.
Thanks for the gear links, nice video. Consider adding a DMXcat, Weller P2KC butane soldering iron, Milwaukee M12 1/4" impact driver, small binoculars, telescopic mirror, and Band-Aids
Got to have the parts, and spare parts! Thanks for the explanations and whys!
Drinking game: down one for every 'USB' mentioned! Happy new year! 😂
Tx, and happy New year!

True!
Never thought I'd learn so much from a piece of content I have no experience, interest or connection to.
Thank you.
Really useful video - massive thanks!
Soundtools CAT box should be used with shielded cable for the ground.
That power strip is legit
This video makes me so glad i've become white glove working inside trucks lol

I was thinking Felix the Cat bag but make it hardcase

Yo. Cat6a. Or Ethercon. The ground is shared. It has and uses ground.
Make sure you ONLY use Shielded or STP cat 5 or higher cables for the CAT boxes! They will only work if they are shielded, or you will have a very bad time.
Careful with the powercon to male power - if you plug it in the wrong Place you will get power on a male plug !!!
@ yes you are Right. -Sorry
This is an expensive video 😅
Ahh I wasn’t first lol😊
