I remember seeing a caption from this video in Circus Magazine when Dee tips his head back the caption read; "Dee Snider moments before his neck was tragically snapped by three tons of hair!"
Twisted Sister was the first band I saw back in 1985 (with Ratt) in San Antonio, Texas. They were outstanding live as they would kick over stuff on stage just to make the grips run back and forth on stage. I saw Dee Snider during his solo years and he shook my hand in the front row since I was headbanging harder than anyone else. He really appreciated that kind of dedication to metal. If you do another Twisted Sister song could you try and listen to YOU CAN'T STOP ROCK N' ROLL? That song is just awesome on every level.
This so brings back memories of my teenage years, I was born in 1972 and I'm so lucky, proud, and blessed to have lived in that Era, Racine motocross and listening to rock!! Man I miss those days!!

I AM A HUGH TWISTED SISTER FAN. I lived on Long Island growing up, Twisted Sisters home, I used to see them in all the clubs on LI before they hit it big. This is a ballad Dee wrote for his wife about being on the road. His wife did all their costumes and makeup in their early days. I can give you some great suggestions of Twisted Sister. Early, Early stuff: Under The Blade, What You Don't Know Sure Can Hurt You, Shoot 'Em Down, Bad Boys Of Rock n Roll, You Can't Stop Rock n Roll, these are all before Stay Hungry got huge. They're last studio album was called Love Is For Suckers, the title song is great, but my favorite off of that album is called Wake Up The Sleeping Giant, an awesome song. Like you I was heavily into TS and I still love them. I saw them when they were in they're "Death to Disco" days, when they'd bring a Saturday Night Fever album on stage and sacrificially burn it, lol. They're club days were very cool. And just in case you weren't sure what SMF stood for, it was the name Dee gave to the die hard TS fans, he called "Sick Mother Fuckers". Do some more Sister, please.
Good choice, as, I think, this is not just the best song on Stay Hungry, but their best song period. Yes, Kel, Dee had a lot of hair, and add that to the fact that he is 6’3” and he made quite an imposing figure. I always felt this song was an ode to their struggles in trying to make it musically. They mention the price they pay and question whether it is worth it. Great sentiment. I’m sure almost every band faces that question in their career. Another note on the band, not only was Dee successful outside of the group, but guitarist Jay Jay French produced Sevendust on their first three recordings. You may have heard of them. If they don’t ring a bell, listen to Bitch and Face to Face. I bet you recognize both of those songs.
Twisted Sister was a first band I started really listen (the Band which got me into a heavy metal). It was something I had never heard before and I totally fell into that kinda music, it was 1980 I think. Still one of my favorite bands of all time.

One of my friends met Dee Snider some years back here in Florida. Former bandmate of Twisted Sister, close friend of Dee own a shop in PSL, Florida. my friend was assisting owner on cars, custom built cars. Dee stopped by the shop one day. Dee & his friend got into one of the cars for a drive. My friend stated that Dee was very cool guy. I asked my friend why Dee's friend left the band? He told that man didn't like travel on the road long time away from family. Hell, PSL is unusual place to make celebs because my friend again met another musician who was visiting PSL. It was founder and guitarist of Molly Hatchet, Dave Hlubek. Rich, I know that you know 70's band, Molly Hatchet. MH came around about same time as Lynyrd Skynyrd in Jacksonville, Florida. My friend was working at a local bar in PSL when Dave came around in the back of the bar. Dave & my friend shared a joint talking about Rock. Dave told my friend that he knows the owner of the bar, and stops for a visit time to time. But that day was special because Dave's younger brother was playing guitar in a band at same bar that night. My friend said, Dave gotten into his Corvette with a hot lady and left. You never know who you will meet in Florida. I can tell you another story about Monkees' Davy Jones. Have Kel react to Day Dream Believer..

Love you both! I met their guitarist, Jay Jay years ago. Interesting experience. He was very quiet and introverted. He mentioned not liking the public aspect of the band. I never understood that until I gained a smidge of notoriety myself. Nothing like that band had but what little I experienced was more than enough for me.
Hey Rich, do you remember getting the blank tape in the stereo while the weekly metal show was on the radio and holding pause/record till ur song came on? Haha
Mikey B or when you bought a stereo with double tape deck and then burning a copy of your favorite metal playlist onto blank tape and hand wrote all the songs on the little blank sleeve paper then giving it to the chick you really had the hots for only to find out they never even listened to it.
The Price was the song I listened to over and over again after my younger brother had a motorcycle accident and almost didn't make it. I was 18, he was only 14 when he got stoned on something and decided to ride someones motorcycle, lost control when he hit some gravel and was sandwiched between the bumper of a truck and the motorcycle. I always felt like it was "The Price" he had to pay for making a bad decision. Thankfully he pulled through after 4 months in the hospital and he's okay to this day. It happened in June 1985.

Twisted is one of the best live bands. Dee is an incredible front man ..he is hilarious. I miss TS live shows. Their Xmas show was the best....combining TS songs with XMas songs...Hundreds of metalheads singing Deck the Halls...Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la la!
i fucking looove Twisted Sister my first Metal was 7 when this was released i loved it me dad and i was mixing up the songs we´re not gonna take it and i wanna rock but sound the right back then Cassette tape still love it at 42 years old love Dee Sniders new solo album " For The Love Of Metal!! oh i´m Danish so at the age of 7 i didnt even have English in school yet BUT i knew all the lyrics to every Twisted Sister song well from the two Cassette i had " Stay Hungry" and Come out and play...at age 14 i stormed the local record store for more albums was bummed they were broken up...oh yeah they did a re-recordng called Still Hungry...before AJ Peru passed away oh Dee Snider did undercut on his hair for that horror movie i mentioned in the other comment
Thanks. I had the idea early on and I'm glad that it is being well received. I want to give Kel A good snapshot and taste of a band in that way. When we come back around to them, she's had a good dose of it without being inundated by let's say an entire album or a very long track with one particular sound. I think it's working well and the comments have reflected that. Thank you so much for your comments and please keep coming back and contributing however you choose to. It really matters. Big love from South Florida. Rich
Please react to Santa Cruz - Nothing Compares To You Santa Cruz hails from Finland and were formed in 2007 This song will make you feel like youve stepped in to a time machine back to the 80,s - These guys have got it all Also Tales from the Porn - Back to the 80,s - Another killer band
Patrick Rovira Stryper wasn't just a Hair Metal band, they were also a Christian Hair Metal band, in fact, they were The first band to play Christian music in a Rock format, thus setting the standard for other Christian Rock bands to follow
#PinkFloyd 'Stay Hungry' !!! Love the reaction - this is a criminally underrated song! (actually a lot of TS is - they are way more than just 'hair' metal! Dee's writing is what set it apart!) I remember first hearing this cassette back in '84. My sister had it (she's 13 years older than I) - I was only 6 at the time. Of course I laughed at the cover art, but the music was incredible. Of course I took to 'We're Not Going To Take It' like a moth to a flame (it's still such a fun song & video), but the whole album was incredible! Stay Hungry, Burn In Hell, The Price, I Wanna Rock, The Beast, Horror-Teria Suite...it was just AWESOME!! TS FOREVER!!
"Holy hair, Batman!" When Dee Snider was a teenager, his (very strict) father literally dragged him to a barber and forced him to get a military-style haircut. Dee swore that he would never cut his hair again, and for many many years he didn't. It just so happened that his decision fit in perfectly with that musical era. Fun side story: if you go through the liner notes in old Twisted Sister albums you can see a feud between Snider and Vidal Sassoon play out over the years, starting with his proclamation that "Dee Snider uses Vidal Sassoon hair products" and ending with "Dee Snider no longer uses Sassoon hair products: you blew it, Vidal!".
Dee was already a big guy at 6'4 and way over 200 pounds now imagine with the crazy costume and platform boots and he was really an imposing character.
Man. I missed those days with the records and the cassete tapes. Great times.

Oh wow I just flashed back in time. I use to wear that cassette out back in the day. I kind of forgot about The Price. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Kel that my dear was the 80s metal
Saw the "stripped down" version of "We're Not Gonna Take It" Dee made as a Cancer Awareness song. Amazing!!!
Hey guys, I'm back. Had a hard few days so I'm just catching up on your vids now. Much love. BTW we used to play this in my highschool band. I love this album.
Please react to Dee Snyder schooling Congress and the PMRC and Tipper Gore. It's so satisfying
Hey MB...nice to see you/hear you....That vid is great. I'll review and get back to you...
Reading 82 festival , one must for Twisted's fans , wild and rare energy.
Power voice twisted sister dee snider I love this rock band 80s
BTW...I think its a pretty sweet concept doing a X2 of certain bands....an early track and a more recent...all in all 1 vid
Rich
Love the SISTER! They're TWISTED LOL.
Please react to Santa Cruz - Nothing Compares To You
Santa Cruz hails from Finland and were formed in 2007
This song will make you feel like youve stepped in to a time machine back to the 80,s - These guys have got it all
Also Tales from the Porn - Back to the 80,s - Another killer band
Their last ablum was 1987 called love is for suckers
Dude- you spoke my childhood!!!! Lol.
Música que te traslada a la adolescencia , no saldrán ya bandas como está , bufffffffffffff maravillosa canción , gracias por compartir este vídeo.
Kel TS is a "hair band" like many of the era. Ratt, Tesla, Motely Crew, Stryper, Whitesnake, and others.
No, no, nooo TS is a heavy metal band, they staryed in middle 70s 76 I think, and never was hair metal as Poison, Tesla or Winger.
In no way Hair Metal, not all Metal from that era was Hair Metal.
@@tackle47 I'll stand corrected.on TS, but you have to admit music genre was transitioning at the time. There was a lot of crossover.
Elkin Cardona actually they were considered a Hair Metal band
Patrick Rovira Stryper wasn't just a Hair Metal band, they were also a Christian Hair Metal band, in fact, they were The first band to play Christian music in a Rock format, thus setting the standard for other Christian Rock bands to follow
Very underrated in the 80's and still today.
I love Twisted Sister, for me there best song is Love is for suckers. great song on a great album. A must react song
I do like TS but I missed this song, wow great song
I saw them in 84 and bought Tix for 40 n FUCK it tour. Love Dee , brilliance personified.
#painintheask savatage streets a rock opera. Going to push this until it happens.
Love this song
Every band has that one great song this is theirs 🔥🤘🤘
I disagree. If I had to play only one trademark TS song, that would be " We're not gonna take it".
