I was looking up Black Mass pickups yesterday and was wishing you had a demo of this set. Happy the universe answered my calls today :) Amazing audio and video production as always. Thanks!!!
Love the attack you get from the single coil with the sustain of the humbucker when they’re combined. Sounds great! I have my set of pickups ready to go, just need the rest of the parts of the guitar to show up!
Those sound fantastic. Love this demo and track you created. How is switching from the neck to the bridge while playing? Is there a massive difference in volume or does it feel balanced? They sounded really well balanced in the demo.
There's definitely a bit of a difference just totally clean/dry but all things considered, I think they're pretty decently balanced given how different they are
Nope I just dropped them in! But that'll depend on 1) whether your pots are suitable to the pickups/your ears (I believe 500k pots are recommended) and 2) if you want to put in a push/pull pot to split the bridge pickup, which I personally skipped.
@@ambienttrash5234 i have a Vintera JM (the white one with the matching headstock) and i‘d love to modify it a little bit and clean the electronics up (not so much a fan of the rhythm circuit) and j leonard j had a long JM vid some weeks ago where he described that he would use a 1 meg pot in the electronics somewhere and had some ridicolously cool sounds with that. I just can‘t decide if i want the JMXL or the Between Worlds Set because both sound amazing and you‘re playing style fits my needs very well.
@@locomusikbox2130 for sure, yeah 1M pots are pretty typical in JMs to my knowledge-my J Mascis JM has 1M pots and the JMXL pickups work great with them. Ultimately a matter of what sounds good to your ears with your rig but for reference, I have 500K pots in this Jaguar. As for JMXL vs. BW, I'd say if you lean more toward lower gain, maybe emo/indie/dream pop sorts of sounds, go JMXL. If you lean heavier/more aggressive, the Between Worlds humbucker will be way better for that and then you have the JM-style neck for the cleaner stuff.
The BW neck pickup has a super bright/jangly sound; the wide range cleans are also nice and bright, but a bit more mellow/rounder sound. The BW bridge is a lot more aggressive though-way more output and an overall heavier, more grindy/mid-focused tone. I'd say if you go between those extremes a lot and need something pretty aggressive, go BW. If you're more in the middle and tend toward lower/medium gain, WRHB is prob a good choice
@@ambienttrash5234Thank you! I actually ended up getting the MASS90 for my Strats bridge position. Your demo sold me, although I may install these pickups in my tele deluxe vintera II.
Not personally, sadly! But I know a couple folks who have and they seem to agree they're pretty different. My understanding is the Gazing set is generally smoother and more balanced, while the BW set is more extreme in both directions (i.e. really aggressive/snarly bridge and super jangly neck)

Thanks so much!
I just bought these. Can’t wait to install them
Been waiting for this demo! Can't wait to grab the JM sized set when it drops.

hell yeah, they sound great together in the middle position!
Awesome playing, they sound great too!
Dude I absolutely love the way you play. That's it just wanted to drop some love 👍🏻
Dude that opening track is a smoke show. I wanna hear more of it 😂
Esto es maravilloso 🙏🙏, volviste a lucirte
Been waiting on this one since BME dropped their pickups, mine are on the way
HUGE. Love it.

what kind of pots are in that guitar? considering this set for an sg of mine and curious if 500k pots are gonna work out okay
thanks :)
I've got 500k pots in the Jag, that should do the job 👍🏻
@@ambienttrash5234 awesome, thanks!! great videos btw :) you’re videos are the reason I bought a 1312
Hey, this set appeals to me very much. Have you done something to the electronics of the guitar or did you just throw in the pick ups?
Nope I just dropped them in! But that'll depend on 1) whether your pots are suitable to the pickups/your ears (I believe 500k pots are recommended) and 2) if you want to put in a push/pull pot to split the bridge pickup, which I personally skipped.

@@ambienttrash5234 thank you for the advice!
I'm almost positive I want this set in one of my guitars. How is the volume drop between neck and bridge pickups?
Honestly they're pretty surprisingly balanced, way more than I'd have expected with such different pickups and especially in the middle position
Where can I get tabs for intro?
Got em on my Patreon, link in the description!
How would these compare to the wide range?
The BW neck pickup has a super bright/jangly sound; the wide range cleans are also nice and bright, but a bit more mellow/rounder sound. The BW bridge is a lot more aggressive though-way more output and an overall heavier, more grindy/mid-focused tone.

now that's a balanced set
Any expereience comparing these to the 1991 Gazzing set from Rightous Sounds?
