DIY Aquarium PVC Overflow with Poop Separator feature

- I will be showing you how to build a DIY Aquarium overflow just by using PVC pipes. This overflow have an additional feature where it can separate fish poop which will help keep your sump tank cleaner.
This is an alternative method if you are not able to drill any holes in your main tank due to various reason and still want to have a filtration system using a sump tank.
Remember to glue your PVC pipes once the fitting and size is confirmed and give it a good coat of paint of your own liking to make it look like a professionally build overflow!

Pakai epoxy glue. Saya pakai hot glue supaya cepat kering utk buat rakaman video sahaja.

Semua sambungan pvc piping pakai pvc cement saja. Bagi bahagian/material sy tak boleh pakai PVC, saya pakai epoxy glue.

Hello, i wanna ask something, you are uae 25mm for output on this overflow setup, and if i use 32mm pipe for overflow output. It will work like this video?
Yes, but u will need to factor in the size for the bigger dimension pipe to ensure the water flow is not restricted

Hi! This is great! The airline tube though, is that kept in the water? I can't tell in the video. Does it dictate the water level height in the main tank? Do you put a airline check valve on it?
Airline tube needs to be in the water. It acts as the siphone break, when air goes into the overflow it breaks the siphon

@@TheStreamAffair what if you have, like a bubble wand, and the airbubbles get sucked in too? will that break the siphon?
If bubbles continues to get trap in the overflow it will break the siphon and mess up with the overflow siphon capabilities
Its like u drinking water from a straw and if there is a big hole, u end up sucking more air than water

Flow rate bergantung kepada saiz pvc pipe yg digunakan. Tapi flow rate ni lebih tinggi daripada overflow jenis advance yg sy muat naik dahulu.

Nak bertanya, saya sudah berhasil membuat DIY overflow ini dan berjalan lancar. Namun satu yang saya pikirkan, apa kaca saya dapat menahan pipa overflow seberat itu? Saya menggunakan pipe overflow luar 76,2 mm ( 3" ) dan pipa pemisah najis 38,1 mm ( 1,5" )
Saya menggunakan aquarium berukuran 5,3 x 1,1 x 2,3 feet
Maaf, saya tidak faham apa soalan kamu? Kenapa perlu kaca untuk menahan overflow ini?

maaf, kemungkinan maksud dia dia risau adakah aquarium dia bertahan dengn berat dari ukuran overflow yg dia telah dia buat, dgn saiz yg 3 inch dan bukan 25mm.
ni soalan saya saiz overflow ni sesuai dengan range aquarium saiz berapa ke berapa.
Kegunaan overflow bergantung kepada pump flow rate dan bukan saiz aquarium.
Thank you for sharing this! Could you make a video on how to make a siphon for vacuuming sand substrate for larger tanks?
I made on video on how to clean sand gravel, but the one I made doesn't suck up or stir up the sand, but it is very effective in cleaning any detritus on the surface of the sand..I like this better , reason being it will not cause any ammonia spike due to stirring up the sand/gravel.
For ur case, u might need to use a larger diameter pipe/tube (50mm and above) at the suctioning section and connect it to a smaller diameter pipe and back to ur water hose. You can clean your sand cleaning during your water change.
Let me see if I can make a short video on how to do a hassle free water change and sand cleaning at the same time.
@@TheStreamAffair Thank you so much! I am currently using a DIY siphon(Plastic bottle attached to the garden hose with a PVC pipe for structure ( and so the fish won't bite me). If I could make a somewhat automatic siphon like this, tank maintenance would be much faster, and safer.
how many liters per minute capacity?
I didnt actually measure it, but I believe it can support pump with capacity of 4000L/H. If ur pvc diameter is bigger, then it can support even more

About 450 liters
It depends on the pump saiz and your sump tank as well. You will need to make sure the water displacement from your tank can fill into ur sump tank without overflowing and make sure the pump that you use is able to handle the flow rate.
