  • We planted the “KLTree” on Arbor Day (April 28, 2023) in Traverse City’s Medalie Park near Boardman Lake. This spring/summer has been INCREDIBLY dry, and so she is growing quite slowly, and she does not have many leaves yet. This little lady needs special attention to help her get rooted. In order to get a tree established and allow it to grow and thrive at its best, it is crucial (especially for the first year) to keep it well-hydrated. This has been a challenge, given the unusually dry conditions.
Although she declined an on-camera appearance, my mom Beverly Dew came along with me to check in on the KLTree. We made this video to share. The KLTree also needs a name, please comment below if you have ideas!
Planting a tree is wonderful for the soul. The good intentions that we put into the process of planting the tree continue to vibrate out from the tree itself long after we are gone. Trees connect the earth beneath us and the sky above, much as we do as humans.
A reminder that we are one.

Love the video! Too bad shy Beverly missed her on-camera debut chance!
