“And He chaaaaaaange, changes meeee, from daaaay to day” “as I walk, I walk alone, this ooold narrow way” “Makes me want to run 🏃🏽♀️ on shout hallelujah 🙌🙌🙌 right to the end”..... GLORY that man ain’t playing. Y’all better get back clean on somewhere 👏🏾💪🏽💪🏽
My grandfather used to sing this song. And not that it matters, but even if he wasn't raised baptist, his church is Greater St. Stephens Full Gospel BAPTIST Church in Decatur, GA.
I remember this from the 60's as a child in the Sunshine Band...Senior Choir singing...waiting for them to get to the chorus so I could sing along too even though I didn't know what a yoke was at the time. The words are so inspiring and timeless even today!!! Is anything too hard or too wonderful for God to allow us to cherish these old skool songs. Amen! PTL!!!!
This song has always blessed my heart, makes miss home,I really miss being in the choir ,I miss Greater St.Stephens, gone since Katrina currently living in Chicago for past two months God Bless Bishop Paul S. Morton and Mrs.Morton and the Greater St. Stephens family ,whenever I think of home I look at the vidoes thanks for bringing them to youtube still a part of me.My name is Tammy Morris currently pursuing my singing career as Sher'nell La'fleur continue to bless the world!
I KNOW THAT!!! If you noticed, I said that I know he was not raised Baptist, but he has a Baptist feel about him to me...at least while singing this song!
(Chorus) His yoke is easy (His yoke is easy, His yoke is easy) HIs burden are light (burdens are light, burdens are light) If I walk (walk where He leads me) Where He leads me (walk where He leads me) I'll always (always be right) Be right (always be right) So I'll cherish (cherish the race) This old race (cherish the race) That I'm running (running with haste) With haste (running with haste) And by His grace (and by His grace) Home some day (I'm going to make it home some day)
The name of this song is "Since I Met Jesus", not "His Yoke is Easy". Bishop Morton has sort of rearranged the song to make it easier to sing because it is quite challenging as written. Two recordings by the Caravans, the original lead with Bessie Griffin and a live version at the Great Shrine Concert of '55 with Albertina Walker are excellent versions, as well as my personal favorite by the Roberta Martin Singers with Narsalis McKissick on lead. The words are very poignant to me.
Raised COGIC, but went Baptist im the 80-90s... said God called him back to COGIC... but he wanted to combine the 2, hence how he came up with FULL GOSPEL
Hello dresurl69, my email said that you had responded to my response.. I guess you don't know to whom I was responding to...it's kool. But what ISN'T kool is when people get on here and belittle others past in such a negative way which i think is very unacceptable.

This song is in the new baptist church hymnal.
good song
love
dr. charles hayes also recorded as "his yoke is easy".AND THATS THE NAME FOR THE SONG THAT MORTON N HAYES USED.
The Roberta Martin singers also did this as well as the caravans.
@cenafaye
I know right!
she felt that thing!!!!
Lol, it's been 8 years. I hope the little debate about him being a Baptist or feel of a Baptist has been buried.
yessssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!
Because some people like to sing the whole verse instead of singing the chours some people get more feeling in the song when they do that

I don't have perfect pitch by far...but I think it sounds like Bb. Its at a perfect level for me to sing, I ask for songs to be played in Bb.
I think its just one of those church thinking things. I remember our hymanl's index have "Index of first lines and song titles."
Am I the only person who thought he was saying he sanctions me from day to day as I walk I walk alone this ole narrow way
Can someone tell me what key they do this in?
Eb - E FLAT
Would that be Clay Evans and Fellowship with Loretta Oliver???
I agree even though if you didnt know, Bishop Morton is not Baptist
ThiS sOng iS iN th3 k3y oF Eb...
where was he raised COGIC at? why did he start the Full Gospel Baptist? just curious......
Raised COGIC, but went Baptist im the 80-90s... said God called him back to COGIC... but he wanted to combine the 2, hence how he came up with FULL GOSPEL
