    Just put gen2 shocks on a gen1 raptor. I Just left the Gen 1 spacers off and the Gen 2 front coil over shocks bolted up perfectly.

      Just did this on the weekend. Been driving for a week now and it’s been good so far.

      @@jesseb280 I just drove my gen 1 to Moab Utah from Florida . Ran it hard for a week . So the gen 2 shock's work perfect with out spacers. I did use my stock springs.

      @@raptorair500 that’s awesome! I bolted up the whole strut assembly from the Gen 2. Just line them up right and they fit right in. Been listening for any sort of sounds and so far so good. The fronts I got had less than 10k on them and the Gen 2 rears were brand new. We’ll see how it’ll go.

    You need new buckets to have proper angles for gen 2’s on a gen 1.

    As a man sitting next to both a set of first gen and second gen rear raptor shocks I can tell you that those travel numbers you shared reflect the suspension travel as the wheel cycles, not the shock travel itself. First gen rear shocks travel 11.5", 2nd gen rears shocks are 12.5".

    The longer (Gen2) front shock...the shock is the limiter for down travel, with the longer shock don't you run out of upper control arm ball joint angle?....and how about the same for the CV joint angles?

    • @robertsamspon4232
      @robertsamspon4232 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      correct. you need limiter straps. this video was just him reading what we did in the raptor forums.

    Guys have you actually seen a benefit of doing all this? Why not just go to Fox or King and buy the shocks that were designed to fit on your model year? You can buy King or Fox 3.0’s that are better than the 1st Gen Raptor Fox stock suspension.
    Also swapping the old spring onto the new shock changes the way that coil over would function, which may diminish performance.

      Kris Kline I’ve seen used fox 3.0s off a gen 2 raptor for $575 a set... only had 70 miles on them. I was going to buy them for my gen 1 but I don’t think you can adjust the perch setting on the 3.0’s

Fronts will be next also. you will need the front to be limited by straps if you plan to off road hard. the CV will go into bind with the longer droop.......... just remember that. if you drive in town every day and just have a raptor to show everyone...... no issues ride after the install.
