I had medicaid until they decided I have too much income. Is there an age at which someone no longer needs to have a job for medical assistance or at which they are no longer subject to the income limits? I find it rather odd that they count SSDI and other benefits as income. No, that is not income as in from a job. I am past the appeal window for that but if I apply again next year and of course get the letter than I am not eligible (again) can I appeal it and get it back then? Of course they might keep telling me I have too much income. That is where I feel a bit cranky and just want to ask them where it is they saw me earning income?

I feel this how old are you and if you are married or claimed as a dependent here in VA they consider household income so if you are a dependent in taxes or married even if you are jobless they consider people in your household income. When I was 19 parents dropped me off insurance I was jobless outta highschool in medical debt from a ER visit from being turned away at urgent cares because I didn't have a 100 dollar copay upfront well I went to SS office laughed at when they looked at my dad's income that we made too much for free insurance. They don't count the things you need food, house payments, necessity they only looked at his income and laughed at. Even though I was jobless at 19 they looked at other people's income in the household because I was a dependent on my dad's taxes and he took care of me but if you are married they look at the partner income as well. Just sharing a story when I was a teen what happened to me. 26 now and doing ok.

Live in Texas, I’m in a nursing home. ,off and on for the last three, for rehab, walking . As of 2023 January, we were only allowed to have $60 per month. What is My recourse? Would you be interested in handling my case?

You would need to find an attorney in Texas to handle your case. Best of luck.

I work in community engagement at the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department in Washington state and I was wondering if you knew anything about Medicaid eligibility and illegal immigration status

Unfortunately no. I am also only licensed to practice in CT and the rules for Medicaid differ (sometimes greatly) depending on what state you are in. I would recommend contacting a local attorney for guidance.

No federal funds can be used on illegals. Medicaid is a mixture of federal and state funding. As long as they use state funds only. I think California does that.

I'M 73 and I get 680./month of SSI. I have no assets or in a nursing home. Missouri Helthnet keeps declining me, because I'm over 65. I don't get it. I can't afford all those copays on $ 680/month. What am I suppose to do?

Unfortunately I am only licensed to practice in CT and Medicaid rules can vary (sometimes greatly) from state to state. I would recommend reaching out to a local attorney for assistance. If cost is a concern, they might even be able to direct you to a state agency or nonprofit group that might be able to assist you.

    Please is this for Massachusetts?

This is specific to Connecticut. You would need to check with a Massachusetts-licensed attorney for that state's eligibility requirements.
