and we know she spelt matzah wrong in hebrew but her board was not working very well so her hey became a chet - give the kid a break she was 10 and in front of a live audience!

As Lisa's mother I can assure you the children did not know what the questions were prior to the show - in this case it was random luck that a Jewish kid got a Jewish question!
Lisa was born with a birthmark on her face which is treated at Great Ormond Street to reduce the colour for the last 10 years! She was offered make up but wanted people to see a child with a birthmark to help raise public awareness as she has no problem with it and hope other kids with birthmarks will see her on TV and feel good about themselves. She raises funds for the birthmark unit at Great Ormond Street so if anyone wants to contribute please post! Glad you enjoyed the clip - Lisa's Mum
I love this show! what really gets me is how freakishly clever those kids are...they never seem 2 get anythn wrong. and they are all so young. they cant possibly know that much.

@Icemage3600able Lisa has a birthmark on her face which she has had since birth. She purposely did not want it covered to enable public awareness so I hope this answers your question when "lol" is probably not that appropriate

No UK has to be different and we don't have grades but Year 1, 2, 3 etc. In fact the 10 year olds are all 4th graders!

"...eat AT passover" is correct, just as people do not do things "ON Christmas", but "AT Christmas" unless it's "ON Christmas morning" etc.
Perhaps American English is different, as there's been a few comments about this, but remember this is a British programme.
bluejam in British English it’s natural to say ‘on’. Like “what did you eat on your birthday?” or “what did you do on(/at) Christmas?” But I don’t know if it’s grammatically correct.

That question CAN APPEAR in the American version of this quiz show. However it may fall under "CULTURAL STUDIES" or "ANCIENT CULTURES" subject. I remember the question asking who was Egypt's ancient god of the sun; which falls under "CULTURAL STUDIES" subject. It's probably a "loophole" that is being used to ask a question on religion.
@dvlfin26 She was ten year old, is English and tried her best - sorry her small spelling mistake in a language she learn't at school was not good enough for you and that she did not stop and think before she wrote on a TV stage - I suppose she should have known better at 10 years old
i can read and right in hebrew nearly fluently in hebrew and im from the us, im jewish, but she spelled matzah wrong in hebrew, she spelled it with a taph not a hay
@sweetypie000 - Noel has hosted it since the beginning. He does the main show, DIck and Dom used to host the daytime version.

Young lady I agree with that. Better yet speaking for myself the way I see it the question your daughter receive was the luck of the draw. I save this clip as one of my favorites. Note i'm from the USA.

It doesn't say matzah she wrote the last letter wrong, instead of matzah it says metzach which means forehead not flat unleavened bread

Thanks for uploading this clip. I live here in the United States, and I love trying to find other versions of "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader/10-year-old (depends on which country you live in). BTW - What's that on her face? A bruise or the make-up person put to much make-up on her face?

What is the deal with calling it "Are You Smarter Than a 10-Year-Old"? The U.S. and Aussie versions both call it "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader". Do they not have 5th grade in the UK?
Don't you have many Jews in the UK? I can't even imagine this even being a game show question in the US.
I don't know about that but to be honest with you the answer to the question & I will be the first to tell you is something that I really didn't know.
The point of the clip is that Lisa wrote the answer in Hebrew so surely it was obvious she knew the answer!
Interesting. If this kid's religion class taught her that all Jewish people live in Israel, how do they get around the fact that she lives in the UK? Also, the US version doesn't really encourage the kids to chat about their answer after they've locked in. They've all been trained to have a poker face...

I don't think there is anything unintelligent about not knowing something which is practically only related to biblical knowledge.
For the non religious, it really isn't easy. This show thrives on giving questions which children revise for a 10 year old exam and never learn again, and forget. Thats why the Maths is so easy, because its not cram-knowledge.
