Unbelievable composition, rich in all possible musical aspects. Thank you Mr. Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky! This impressive artistic expression of yours is a proof that you are one of the most important and influential composers of the 20th century and a pivotal figure in modernist music. I have not been listening modern music for a while and have just realized how spectacular your work is. Many thanks for the performers and in the first line to the respected conductor!
MTT has always been my favourite Stravinskij ' s Rite. He has a monster sense of rhytm and and he' s so clear in his gesture. He worked on this piece with Igor and Lenny. I think it's enough!
Two players in the SF Symphony that bring back memories for me: 20:34 - Lori Westin, French Horn 36:34 - Billy Bennett, Principal Oboe I played 'cello with them many years ago in a youth orchestra! Early 1970's, in New Haven CT. Lori was principal french horn and Billy was 2nd oboe. Wow, so long ago that was! Even this superb performance was quite a while back, almost 24 years ago. Sure is good to have nice memories like this, no? John Boyce
At that point it feels to me like MTT is only barely holding back the orchestra, and that if one wrong breath happens, one cough from the audience, the orchestra will go right back to the eternal dance. Just brilliant. MTT is a genius and perhaps the closest living connection we have to Stravinsky. ❤️❤️❤️
MTT has the best interpretation of Le Sacre, in my opinion. After all, he worked with Stravinsky for years and had a chance to study and perform his new works.
Excellent performance. Handled the sometimes chaotic end section very well. For me I would have preferred the strings to be a tad louder throughout. The editing was a tour de force. ....pity BBC don't have such high standards these days.
This so unbelievable performance with all the dynamics and nuances! Love it!🖤

Excellent performance, and the work of the camera men very good. I am very satisfied with this video. Thank you very much.
Who could possibly not love that bassoon solo???
The poor bassoonist who has to play it, that’s who!

Great conductor, orchestra and performance. Michael Tilson Thomas has a great understanding of the work. The timpanist is fantastic.
A stunning performance in both interpretation and audio recording! Well done 👍🙋🏻🎵🎶🎼
A Wonderful performance...but...wait till you get a load of this....th-cam.com/video/jm5wXERBzhw/w-d-xo.html
My favorite performance, nice to have it in one video.
David Herbert on Principal Timpani !!!
Might be my favourite performance of the Mystic Circles movement of all time. So rich and haunting!
Wow...incredibly!❤

Thanks for the individual cues!
This deserves a CD release !!!!
He did it with BSO in 70s. It’s on DG, but hard to find. He also made “Keeping Score “ DVD which is easy to get.
That keeping the score performance doesn’t compare to this IMO. The whole orchestra is literally on fire & razor focused for this proms performance.

At 15:45 ,MTT stops the orchestra in its tracks. Brilliant

Kudos to the audience for not applauding after Part 1. This requires severe restraint. 😊
Original orchestration with Wagner tubas etc
29:30 the videographer got the wrong bass clarinet 🥲
