    Don's voice might be ruined by years of drinking, smoking, and aging itself, but atleast his personality is intact. What a cool dude

      Nothing is ruined that cannot be fixed unless there is damage. Steve Tyler's voice was rescued after being almost completely gone if it's retrained properly.

    True confessions: The Who is my all time favourite band, but in college, they were dormant and Queensryche and Dokken tied as my favourite band. Neither let me down until a bit in the 90s. To see these interviews with Don is amazing. He talks nothing like he sings. I would never know it was him. But more important, it is encouraging when you find out the people you look up to so very much, are just decent people who have more than half brain. He is right, we need Dokken for the fantasy of rock stardom, but to know Don is a real guy with a real heart, well that something special and real to my heart.

      What do you mean? All the Dokkens stuff in the 90's and up kick ass.

      This is also pretty ironic since Dokken if my favorite band and Queensryche is my second.

      @Dafyd Maddz I don't think I have a favorite, too hard to pick. If I really had to think about it, I might have to choose Jon Olivia (Savatage).

      @spartansquid5931 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dafyd Maddz I'm more in the Dungeons are calling era of the band, but the newer (old) Savatage stuff kicked ass too.

    For the most part Don Dokken's lyrics especially his masterful ballads are ALL perfectly written beautiful songs. A true master of his craft.

    I was back stage at a Queensryche concert and saw Don and his guitarist for his solo gig in the room down the hall, I (a bit drunk) asked them to both say " THANK YOU SEATTLE!" in a Klaus (of Scorpions) sort of way. They replied that neither of them were German, but they were nice enough to do it for me anyway. Nice guys!!!

    @believin13 they are actually still a Band minus the bass player & Original Guitarist
    Goerge Lynch. personal differences & just didn't get along (like most Bands)
    so many Reunions have been done KISS was Hugely succesfull & still is.
    the Black sabbath ones were lame because it was only shows, Never a full new CD with OZZY.

  • @MetalHeart8787

    @MetallicBill oh yeah i was just mentioning there ego they are actually My Favorite Band in the world, KISS. I agree some thought it would last forever.
    Its strange how some Bands Kiss, Bonjovi & Metallica have had success or
    a come back. while have just hit absolute Bottom. But i still like Bands like Dokken & Ratt just that their newer stuff is not good as the 80's

    • @TheRadioAteMyTV
      @TheRadioAteMyTV 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      KISS hires out to get their songs though and that is very different than writing your own. If you are going to hire out then you have a better chance to tapping into what is hot at the moment instead of writing an artistic piece. KISS is all business and dang good at it, Dokken are dudes who are rockers and live by their own wits.

    • @spartansquid5931
      @spartansquid5931 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What are you talking about? Dokken's new newest stuff kicks ass (pretty much everything after Shadowlife is great). Their new stuff is 100x better then what most of the old bands are currently putting out.

  • @MetalHeart8787

    @believin13 i see your joking, but yeah ive Heard strories of him having one. so
    this interview is good because it shows hes a cool Guy.

      I think he's a fantastic songwriter and he's a singer who's voice is gone. I hate it because Don Dokken was my favorite singer but truth is truth. I'll still buy anything he puts out because he's my favorite singer ( Jack Russell too ) I'm glad he's cool in person.

    • @MetalHeart8787

      @@lawrancetiger Yeah alot of them, like paul stanley & David lee roth who just can't sing Good live anymore. I Like Dokken too, Great white i wasn't Huge on But did like them

      @@MetalHeart8787 in case it's too late , I don't recommend buying the cd/dvd from the tour they did in 2016 with the original line-up " back to the east " ? It had a new song " Just Another Day " which was really good but the live shows they pieced the dvd together from were solid Mick drumming , Jeff pounding the bass and George shredding his guitar but bro Don's voice was terrible. They tried Paris Is Burning and that was awful. It breaks my heart to say that but it's no joke. Jack Russell still has it but Don doesn't , and like I said , as a true fan , as long as he puts it out I'll buy it.

      @@MetalHeart8787 Manowar is good live !! You should be able to look up a LOT of live shows here on TH-cam so that's easy and free ! I'm 57 , live in NC outside Raleigh , seen over 115 concerts in my life , take tons of pictures at the shows , post them on FB , I have no kids , I'm a follower of Jesus Christ and not the least bit ashamed of it. I don't force my faith on anyone but I don't try to hide it. I am of course a music fanatic and I love to meet the "stars" and get the autographs and pics with them. I actually am true friends with some stars but some are local some world famous and I've learned not to tell some friends who I am cool with and who is just local cause years ago I met Daughtry walking into the post office here ! He was wearing a baseball cap and a hoodie pulling it down and I stopped and looked at him in the eyes and lifted my hand to almost point and he nodded so I nodded at him then got in my truck and drove home. Im not really a fan of his . Geoff Tate and Rudy Sarzo were both super cool with Queensryche . Tom Keifer is cool , I assume you to be an Accept fan? I saw them on the Metal Heart tour with Helix and Keel in Fayetteville in 1986. Met all the guys in Keel , very cool. So what's your story ?
