When Parents of adult children remarry, I do not consider the new spouse as the adult children's parent. I call them their parents spouse. The adult children are free to call them whatever they want, but to me they are not a parent.
Horrible stepparents have tried to pull these stunts in order to pay off debts by forcing their stepdaughter(s) into an arranged marriage without their foreknowledge or consent.
Agree you would only use the term second oldest when a family had several daughters such as the Bennet family in Jane Austin’s classic book Pride and Prejudice that had five daughters.
It's weird phrasing, but it is true. An only child is the eldest and the youngest. If there are two, the eldest is also the second youngest and the youngest is also the second eldest.
Step parents need to earn respect from the children. Sometimes you can get really lucky and I know some kids who have been saved by the step dad from abusive real mother and new druggie abusive affair dad.
This story, like all Apple stories was originally created for a Japanese audience. Got to understand that even though what step mom was trying to do is not strictly legal, in Japan once the girl falls into the groom's family's hands the law will not rescue her. Even if she is kidnapped the Japanese police will not enter a home without the permission of the homeowner. The groom's family wants to marry off their shut -in son and if they get their hands on the girl, even if she is underage and he's middle-aged they will keep her confined and allow him to rape her until she is pregnant and thus forced to marry him. I heard at least a dozen true stories along those lines when I was living in Japan. The thing is, once you are in that family's home, anything can happen to you without anyone helping you. There are all sorts of laws in Japan that nobody follows. Especially in the countryside. I knew a woman, a bathhouse girl, who ran away from home when she was 15 because she knew her family was going to force her to marry her uncle to keep the ancestral lands in the family. Her older sister was forced to marry the same man but the children she bore him were all girls and therefore if they inherited the land it would pass out of their family name into another family. So they forced the older sister to divorce and were just waiting for the younger to finish middle school ( junior high in the US, which is all the goverment requires). The older sister was abused for not having a male child and the younger decided to escape her fate. Not exactly a happy ending, Japanese bathhouse girls are prostitutes but at least she had some control.over her life and didn't have to produce endless children until and if she had a boy.

Be very very wary dealing with this, she sounds very unhinged!
Loving the moonlight sonata playing in the background. Good story.
I agree with Karen when she said “you’ve got to be kidding me”. This is the dumbest storyline I’ve ever heard! Total Nonsense.
script is very good and interesting

Mary sounds like she’s 12 years old.
Anna's 2 cents: marriage to a total stranger, a gift? Anyway the beach footage, is beautiful!
That sad pug makes me want to cry
1:20 in and I'm willing to bet , stepmother is going to sell off stepdaughter in an arranged marriage., 11:58 yep there it is
There is no "second eldest" of only two children. There is an older and a younger
No more. No less.

😂Those voices😂
My mom’s husband and I call one another “step” (affectionately).
In what world does marrying my mom/dad automatically make you my dad/mom. Stupidest thing I ever heard, but I guess its different in other countries.
You shouldn't try to force people into marriages that they don't want.
Many cultures have had arranged marriages for thousands of years. Be thankful you live in a country that is free.
@@janenc8040 arranged marriage is still wrong.
Calling someone 'Cheeky' who is above the age of, like, 10 is so weird 😂
Stop being cheeky…
A foolish person acts without knowing.
Make that one up yourself?
Why does this sound like a soap opera version of " I'm My Own Grandpa..."
Why is there always a crash and burn at the end? I understand that is a feel good, but it doesn't always end that way in real life.
There's gotta be a crash & burn - it's burnt in to the AI's plot
Good morning from London Ontario Canada
Very good story
Very possible age gap. I'm 14 years older than my sister. I was 18 and out of the house when my sister was 4!
My grandmother had her first children around 1930 and her last in 1946, with her second husband (first one died in 1945).

Why can't you pronounce 'nuisance' correctly? This isn't the first time.
STILL pronouncing 'nuisance' wrong. 😮💨
NEW-SENSE, not 'noo-ee-sunz'
Maybe this story comes from a culture which has arranged marriages, and where forced, underage marriages are acceptable?
In this story her hopes for a wedding ended when she heard daughter #2 was underage.

So...she's selling her step-daughter?
Finally a good story.
Mary is a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
What a ridiculous story.
