  • I saw some images of a hypothetical Warhammer 40k film made in the 1980's created with an A.I. generator. If these beautiful images can be made today- how long until we can watch the actual movie? We will soon- and who will make these films and how?

If they can have this AI reproduce famous actors at any age and have it working with a ready made script, then sky's the limit! Originally, Return of the Jedi was going to be totally different, and led straight into Ep. 7. If we're going by previous release dates, that would've been in 1986, Ep. 8 in 1989, with the sequels finishing in 1992. So this would mean recreating Mark Hamill (the only continuous character) as he was in his late 20's and early 30's. Maybe you wouldn't even need to do that, because you could disregard projected production dates and keep him at around the same age as he was in ROTJ. Only recently, I saw a video that recreated young Mark Hamill's voice saying lines that he never actually said, all using AI!

This is getting more and more possible only 12 months later. Crazy, prepare for the legal jihad Disney will rain down on the first few people to try this.

@@FilmJournal I mentioned your video to a relative after I watched it, and the first thing he said was about it being able to put an end to the remakes and reboots. If used right, it could mean a renaissance in movie making. No longer would you be restricted to the availability, health or age of an actor, or even if that actor's still alive! As your vid showed, it would also put an end to needing to cast actors entirely.
I like how you think outside the box. Very refreshing, because you sound just like me. Your video reviews of movies are also very good. Keep it up! 👍

I'll admit this isn't something I'm super familiar with but it's been popping up more and more in the last few weeks. It's actually quite intriguing the possibilities that it opens up, more so for the comic book and advertising industry in my opinion, but I'm sure movies and TV too when it becomes more sophisticated. At one level, yes, there is a loss of artistry and originality with this technology, but on another level, there is so much unartistic "content" being created these days that this tool in the hands of more creative people might be better than what the pros are putting out. Interesting video as always George.

I think the real creatives who are in our camp are going to create really wonderfully things. However- there are still plenty of wonderful films and television shows for propel like you and me to excavate in the meantime.

I thought a cool way this could impact a creative industry would be in illustration. Not as a final product, but imagine it as a way to unblock that creative block you’ve been having? I’ve seen AI stuff that astounds be simply because I couldn’t come up with those shapes in that order, so on and so forth. A machine isn’t limited by experience or the expectation of doing well, it just does. So there’s something very freeing about that and I feel if we take inspiration from those images to create something else, it would be the best way to use such a tool. Because if not... then, what’s the point?

Very interesting topic! But yes, to me it is a bit sad that AI can recreate a 80's movie style. At the same time though it's intriguing... let's just see what happens, in any case everything is in constant evolution and we can't stop that.
