    Picking mine up later this week. This was a great run through before the build. I'll get my wooden blocks ready and have a good idea of the other "tricky bits" that will now NOT cause me any issues :) THANKS! 😀

      Hope you made out okay. They shipped mine with no hardware at all. It's been an absolute nightmare. I can only put it together as the parts slowly come in.

      That sux. I saw a post that washers are no longer included. Probably be OK without them, but I bought enough to go and each end of each washer. Only used flat washers since nuts are LOCK NUTS.

    Without this video my essembly would have been a complete nightmare. Thanks for this!

      Did your tire mount all the way flush to the end. I have a little space left before reaching the end. About a half inch.

    THANK YOU..this vid really helped me. Only thing I think you missed was the chain. I ran it through the front coupler bolt at the front of the frame based on the pics and for symmetry. Using mine to haul a kayak...super bang for the buck.

      Thank you for your kind comment. I am glad to hear that this video was helpful. I think your idea about the chain is really good. I hope you are enjoying kayaking during this hot summertime!

    Helpful video - beats the assembly instructions that come with the trailer.

    So at time 11:13 he talks about adding a safety chain. I would suggest putting the front bolt THROUGH THE MIDDLE LOOP of that chain up inside of that square stock tube, which means that it hangs from UNDER it vice off to one side. I've had other boat trailers with similar connections. Also ALL of the bunk hardware is M10 x 30 (not 25) according to the included instructions.

    Great video! At least the manufacturer is consistent, they shorted me all of the flat washers and lock washers also. Looks like I'm headed to the hardware store in the morning.

      The washers have been eliminated. They are not needed with the current hardware. The current instructions correctly show some revised bolt lengths as well. This video is way better than the instructions and is VERY helpful, but you do not need lock washers with the nylon locking nuts in my opinion (and apparently in theirs), so a couple of aspects of the video are outdated. Still very helpful, just don't be alarmed by the slight differences in design.

    Great video! Very helpful! Unlike yours, my tongue ("tow bar") did not ground to either side rail due to the powder coating (which is very good except for it's insulating properties), so I couldn't even get the side marker lights to work at first (I tested to confirm that was the problem). I drilled one hole in each side rail and connected the white wire to a two-wire heavy copper cord which I then ran through the tow bar and split to each side and used my own self-tapping screws to connect the ground wires to the two side rails. Fortunately my "rear cross member" did ground to the side rails without additional intervention. I guess I could have taken the side rails loose from the "tow bar" and removed some powder coating on both so they would ground together, but this approach was easier since I had already put everything together except the wiring.

    Thank you so much for the video. I'd finished assembly of the trailer to the point of wiring it and was some concerned that I may have to pay to have it wired. But after viewing the video I feel confident that I'm up to the task. (The instructions that came with the trailer for wiring it were not at all clear to me - at least on the first read-through.)

    Connectors like this should use Liquid Tape instead of plain electrical tape. Electrical tape does not water proof or prevent oxidation,

    What’s the length on your inflatable boat? Think this will work for a 14 for skiff?

    • @westerncampingcouple4690
      @westerncampingcouple4690  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry about late reply! Our inflatable boat is about 9 feet long. I think 14 feet could be too long because the overhang. In Amazon product page, there are several people talking about various length kayaks, canoes and boats so maybe you can get some ideas in their reviews.

    Please note they are no longer including any washers with this kit and they are NOT in the current parts list in the instructions. With the self-locking nuts (due to nylon ring) they should not be necessary.

    I only have 1 spring guide inside one spring. Does both springs suppose to have a guide?

    • @SandDuneProperties
      @SandDuneProperties 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The 2 springs should both look the same. One end has a guide. The other end is just a flat piece.

    What’s the purpose of the orientation bar ?

    • @davidqcole
      @davidqcole ปีที่แล้ว

      You can attach the front of your boat to it. You can even install a crank to crank your boat up onto the trailer. Look at pictures of larger boats and trailers and you will see how this works. My bass boat winched up to the "orientation bar" and then had two straps that held it down to the trailer in back. With this setup, I made a loop to attach the front of my kayak to the orientation bar and I am using two straps to hold the kayak down onto the carpeted rails so it does not bounce off of the rails in the back on a bumpy road.

    Where can we get the hardware to assemble?
    Ours is missing in package and we already have the kit down at the lake house. Want to order hardware online be much easier than returning the whole trailer set

    NOOOO... don't use those blue wire connectors... not water proof. Those will corrode. You want the waterproof kind that crimp and you can shrink wrap with heat. Other than that... good jeorb. Anyone ever hit those trailers with bed liner to prevent rust and such? I'm thinking that paint won't last for long.

    • @davidqcole
      @davidqcole ปีที่แล้ว

      I found that when trying to use a dremel to remove the powder coat paint to make electrical connections that this is some really tough paint. I was surprised and impressed. I think it will last, but if you want to add bed liner I would assume it will just add even more protection.
