Interesting because so many 1911 pistols have an adjustable trigger but setting the overtravel screw is something rarely ever discussed for some reason. A basic disassembly video of the new Colt revolvers would be nice! Gunsamerica did a good video on how to disassemble the Cobra but a King Cobra video would be nice to have. What size allen to use to remove the front sight? Whats the best method for taking off the cylinder yolk and side plate? Stuff like that.
simple video, thank you - this helped a lot with my Colt Competition model though I would like to see an updated manual with the guns that includes information about this - the current manuals do not
I got a new competition model last week and I have about 200 rounds through it so far. It's very accurate and very reliable. The trigger pull is the only thing I don't like about the gun. It's clean and smooth, but far too heavy. I figured the competition model would have more of a competition trigger pull.
ok what is the name of the adjustment you make when you try to eliminate the the trigger takeup slack from the creep to the point the trigger meets the wall? Is there an adjustment where you can eliminate most of that pretravel to the wall?
Great!?! -but what is this adjustment? • Travel length? • Where it breaks? • Smaller hands/shorter fingers/ bigger hands? I don’t think this adjustment effects trigger pull weight-if I understand it properly? In today’s plethora of TH-cam “blah-blah-blah” it amazes me how some topics miss critical information….argh…
What happens if you do something stupid and the gun goes into full-auto? Don't laugh, people. It HAS happened. You don't wanna do that on a full mag of 10mm.
GREAT video. helped me adjust my .22 1911!
Holy shit! Just fixed mine. I was almost going to send it in. Thanks!
Best 1911’s you can buy!

You need to adjust the sear spring for a lighter trigger pull
Long live the rampant Colt!!!
Thx for the info!
I've never touched mine on any 1911 I've bought. How close do they come from the factory? May need to experiment soon.
good video enjoyed it and learned from it
what is the best way to remove the overtravel screw?
I have a question... when I pull the trigger i have to release it a bit and shoot again...kinda weird where other guns don't do that
Great info thanks.started a gunsmithing school, online,I needed see hands on..would like to see a closer shot.

Are Colt 1911 triggers supposed too have up and down wobble?
good stuff
Will that also affect the trigger reset. If not done right
Thank you
Very good
Lost my over travel screw on my Colt Competition, What is the correct size of the set screw, if I was to buy one ?
Nice video! Sweet and straight to the point. Very surprised that the first step was not to check for a clear chamber.
If people don’t know that already then they shouldn’t have a firearm lol
Thank you very much. saved me screwing up pardon the pun
Next week show us why/how your colt beats out sig and Kimber.
A.K. Vollmer I have a gold cup sorta like the one he has in this video and I’d put it up against any pistol out there.
So what causes hammer follow?
When i sent mine in to the factory, they quoted only ' their was a hole in your sear pin'
My 1911 doesn't have that screw
My trigger is lose
i tried this did exactly how he says. the screw is a long way in there and the hammer still drops.
why not just drill a tiny hole in the trigger guard to make turning the screw easier? doing it like in the vid looks painful.
Lmao why would someone want to dig a hole into their frame?😂😂
Delta Elite!

So, use blue Loctite, huh? You bring this up and then you don't cover how or when to use the Loctite on the over travel screw. A swing and a miss!
Why are you selling Colt 1911s without sights now that CZ bought you?
I don’t get itttttt😂😂😂🤦♂️😩
Here here, very confused about what this adjustment actually accomplishes.
Did I hear right that the alien key is 1/16?
You should have cleared the weapon before you started messing with it.
