Hi awesome build. Why are you using the factory door. I'm in the dilemma should I cut up the factory door or change to fiber glass

We use them just because we had them, if thet get too banged up at some point we will probably replace with fiber glass doors. 😊

    A question:
You took (most of) the rear off to replace it with fibreglass (if I see this right)
Is this done more on drift builds?
To reduce weight? Have you thought about how it will affect weight distribution?

It's mainly done in order to be able to easily replace the parts when we break them, because we know we will :-)
Better replace some fiberglass parts, than bending the frame.
Weight will be reduced as well, and for weight distribution, we will be moving the radiator to the back of the car as well, but that's once again primarily for protecting it and having more room in the front.
We'll know more about the balance of the car once we're a bit further and we can corner weight the cars.

@@battlecatdrifting in case of damaging the rear on a rail etc. this sounds smart.. front too if you are going to be drifting on a track with a wall or rail.. so moving the radiator sounds smart too.. moving anything expensive/harder to fix from the front and rear.
I have only drifted fwd thus far, but want to build a rwd drift car myself.. bmw's seem the best choice in Europe price wise.
What engine do the e46's have?
I will join the forum one of these days

@@sne4617 Yes, it's also strange to be building with crashing in mind, but in drifting it's almost inevitable 😅
BMW is a common choice in Europe yes, some might say almost too common 😁
If what you care about is getting time in the car, and not only in the garage, I think it's important to choose a car that is at least s little common. It makes finding used and customized parts a lot easier.
The cars are currently as in the video, with no engines. We're waiting for LS engines from US, but we've already waited since February, but hopefully they will get here within this year 😃

Cars that are around a lot can definitely make it easier to finds spare parts.
So no bmw engines but ls v8's?
Cool choice, I checked the prices they are on the affordable side too, between 4-8k.
Do you guys have experience drifting cars thus far?

@@sne4617 We're aiming for reliability. We drove BMW V8 before, and never had issues, but we just want a bit more power.
