High angle tracking shot inside large floor of an Avro factory with machines and workers turning out aircraft parts. Several shots of men and women at work in the factory. M/S of the Managing Director, Mr Dobson, his assistant, Mr Fielding and the Chief Designer, Mr Chadwick, looking at drawings in an office. General view of the Drawing Office.
Men and women beating panels, assembling fuselage, riveting and so on. Squadron Leader John Nettleton VC takes a look around the factory with his crew from the Ausburg Raid, to see the place where their Lancaster was made. He talks to the women workers and signs a photograph for one of them.
More shots of the women workers. Workers on the next shift hang their coats on a special rack that is pulled on a winch to raise it above the factory floor. Women workers are seen in the gun turret assembly section and interior fitting department. In the camouflage section we see a woman slowly spraying the parts. In the final assembly, the various parts are checked, then slowly put together. The Rolls Royce Merlin Engines are the final parts to be fitted.
A tractor pulls a Lancaster out onto the tarmac and the engines are revved. The test flight is shown in detail: plane taking off, C/Us of crew during flight, air to air shots, view of the ground the bomb aimer's window during flight and landing.
Note: commentator mentions the names of several workers seen in this item; they are too numerous to mention here.

Love the big Lancaster bombers

makes a change not to have so many comments here, but my question is, at 9:34 two aircraft are shown, the one in the background is a Lancaster as i know it, i know from Google images, Pinterest etc there might be a version with no upper turret fitted, but the aircraft shown in the foreground has something odd about the shape of the tail fins, are there three, is that a Manchester, two engines, must be, very nice to see them together
