Early January was a good time. The snow-covered mountains were beautiful and it wasn't too hot or too cold. Almost no tourists were around, and the cold kept the bugs away. No queueing times either.
Been to Japan four times now and always travelled in December/January. It was great!! The weather is so nice, clear blue skies and awesome clear views of Mount Fuji. I didn't mind the crowds. Japanese people are so patient and polity and getting around is so easy.
Conversely I actually loved visiting Japan in late december/early January. Mainly because in Australia its extremely hot from this time period and the cold is much better to deal with. It's also nice to start the new year in a place you enjoy that has different ways to celebrate.
Thank you for watching! I heard many Australians visit Japan around that time to do winter sports😉 I like ending and starting a new year with Japanese way too😘
I have always avoided these period you mentioned, especially the rainy season and summer. Japan is my destination of choice for any other time of the year. I love Japan, especially the countryside on a local train.
We travelled mid November which included the Childrens 7-5-3 weekend at temples in Narita on Saturday and Fukuoka on the Sunday, then to the Sumo tournament before days in Kyoto and Tokyo. Very pleasant number of people, easy to get around, cooler weather, autumn colours. November is a brilliant month, highly recommend.
16! It seems you travel around Japan😍 Cherry blossom is almost in full bloom, so it must be the perfect time to visit💯 Have fun! Thank you for watching anyway👌
So based on your video, I have come to the conclusion that the best time to visit Japan is during the second and third week of April. New academic and fiscal year has started, schools reopen, people get back to work. Local tourists will be at the minimum. The Golden week is not here yet. Can't forget the lovely spring weather with the chance to witness cherry blossoms too 🌟😊
I went to Japan in early November 2023 and it was an amazing time where we only had 3 out of 17 rainy days, 2-3 other cloudy days and the rest of the days were sunny and dry. The only drawback is the limited daylight hours.
Rainy season in Japan sounds like hurricane season here in Texas. I hear peak summer in japan is similar to Texas as well, so it doesn't sound that bad. I came to Japan in February the first time and i LOVED it. It rained one day, snowed the next, and was moderately cool. I will say bring gloves for that time of year. I want to go to japan in January/February again because I learned there were snow festivals and events in some part of Japan while I was there. I'm really intrigued by this. I hope to travel to japan in every season to experience local events and festivals. They're really interesting to me.
I always go to Japan after so that I arrive towards the end of golden week (I find the extreme bustle fascinating for a day or two) and then stay for two weeks or so. To me, that's ideal. Mostly the weather is ideal, not too hot, not too rainy and most western countries have not started summer holidays yet, all Sakura tourists are gone, so even places like Kyoto have always been quite calm. Going again in three weeks :)
My son and I are travelling to Japan in June for 15 days, guess we’re stuck in the rainy season, but I’m sure it will still be enjoyable. Will be travelling around too.
Completely agree on August. We travel to Singapore a lot as my wife has relatives there. Sing’s a very hot and humid place. But the most uncomfortable for me was Osaka one August. The humidity had me drenched and dragging.
I understand why August is bad to visit but I was in Tokyo twice in August and I loved it. The weather is extremely hot but the country is very well equipped with strong AC's in any conbini, train, buildings and so on so personally I loved it.
I think the best time to visit any country is exactly when you have time to go. Not to say there aren't better or worse dates, but most people have smaller windows of vacation times.
Been to Japan in all seasons prior to covid. I must say October was the perfect time for me. The weather at that time was just perfect. Not too hot and cool weather^^
@@JapanwithNao it's an honour^^ It not only was perfect weather but that was that time I was studying abroad and achieving that life changing accomplishment just made my stay worthwhile with that type of weather. Just talking about it takes me back!!
I can vouch for late March being full of tourists. I just got back, you couldn't walk more than a few feet without someone trying to do a tik tok or taking pictures. You start out trying to be polite but then just walk into someone's picture without care because it's just too crowded. Starbucks at Gion, packed full of people and can't get a seat. Nishiki Market, you can cover about 50 meters in 10 minutes. Tokyo you might as well stay away from all of the attractions and just enjoy the local spots. Thank you for the advice and I will heed it well.
@bradleypham Thank you for watching and sharing your trip! I hope you had a good time even though it's so crowded in Kyoto😲 Tokyo could be less crowded, but some places like Shibuya are especially crowded.haha. Anyway, looking forward to you coming to Japan someday again! Thanks for visiting😊
@@leontnf6144 Both. Osaka was jam packed with really rude tourists from another Asian country that likes to cut in line and yell instead of talk, so bad that when the Shinkansen stopped, they did not let anyone off they just went in and blocked everyone from going out. Kyoto was a lot of Westerners and locals, same with Tokyo. Tokyo has a lot more places you can go to instead so it was actually a relief being in Tokyo.
I mostly come to Japan when I'm free, and usually out stay most other visitors, typically 3-6 months at a time. I love visiting around Halloween/Christmas & New Years.
Thanks for the updated info. I also watched why not to travel June-July uploaded last year. 🙂 May I know what to expect if traveling from Mid July to Late July?
Thank you for watching both videos😉 It's either still in the rainy season or hot 😲summer! Basically, a hot summer starts shortly after the rainy season ends so you may need to prepare for both weather💯
As for Golden Week, I've been to Japan multiple times during that. And yes, the touristy places will be very busy indeed. Simple solution: Go to other places! Japan has so much more to offer than just Tokyo and Kyoto! And with a bit of preparation and flaxibility, it will be fine. But the main reason to do travel during Golden Week is the matsuri and other events during that week. There are so many, some extremely crowded, but many not even that much. And spring is generally fine.....at least I hope as I'll be flying to Japan again tomorrow! 😀
I travel Japan every year at the last GW (2 May to 10), its great for sharing public holidays with locals since most of the time travelling ro Japan while everyone is in busy and in hurry. And some events and special offers are usually share the period on GW so its actually not that bad imo.
Thank you for the information. I never knew the school year began in April. Like Europe. I know a lot of countries are not good to travel to during the summer months of July and August because it's so hot and humid.
I have been there at all seasons except for December, January, February, and early March. As long as you are able to book accommodation in advance, and you don’t mind crowds, anytime seems like a good time to me. Even rainy season was good. Maybe going to Okinawa during typhoon season is risky since flights get cancelled plus you are stuck indoors and can only look at beach through a window. But actually it was kind of exciting. Camping is more important to choose a good time. For restaurants it is better to eat when the crowds are lower. I like eating late lunch before workers get out. Do any shopping during work hours. Otherwise if you want the best experience follow what he said especially Golden Week.
Thank you for watching! You are a Japan travel pro😆 I totally agree with you, especially shopping during work hours💯 Camping is a bit challenging for first timers but It's really fun😘
i'm goning to visit japan during golden week i knew it's not the best time to visit japan but i wanted to see the koinobori. i'm going from 27th of april till 11th of may! i still hope i will have fun there despite crowds!
I found the rainy season in July rather pleasant because it wasn't so hot. In August without rain I almost passed out from the heat, in Osaka at the castle I had heat stroke. In Okinawa, you could almost only stay in air-conditioned rooms.
Hiking Mt. Fuji is on my bucket list, so I had to schedule my trip from earlier September through mid-september and got a hut reservation on the last day of the official hiking season on September 10th. I'm hoping the heat isn't too unbearable at the time, but what from what I have seen through videos, its going to be terrible.
I traveled nearly every month in Japan. The holidays definitely do bring more crowds from domestic travelers. But also, I would choose based on what you are willing to accept based on your PTO time, your favorite kind of weather, and if possible the events you want to see. I don’t like the cold, but I had a great time in Kyoto in February, and I got to see the Nara Wakakusa Yamayaki in January. I really don’t like the rain, so rainy season was the time I didn’t go anywhere because it was too much of a task for me to walk around with a poncho and rain boots all day.
I spent two weeks in Japan in August. Yes, it was hot and humid, but I still really had a great time. It's so hot in August where I live in Southern California in the US (up to 110°F or 43°C), we can't really even do anything outside, so not as bad for me in Japan. If you are sensitive to heat and humidity though, I wouldn't recommend going to Japan in August. I once traveled to Florida in the US in August and it was hotter and even more humid than Japan. I have also been to Hawaii in the summer and it was less hot and humid than Japan, so maybe that will give you an idea of the heat and humidity of Japan in August. It's pretty bad, but definitely not the worst.
Thank you for watching and sharing your story! Japanese summer is too easy for you, maybe😂 Some people are used to that kind of weather so it's a good time to visit since less crwoded💯
Have been to Japan twice now. First time was late October which was an awesome time to travel! Temperature was great, rain was usually light and the autumn colours were amazing outside of the cities! Second time was early September, and although I managed I do recommend going later. It was still on the constant hot side with 33-34 degrees Celsius. You can push through it but its just draining of energy when you want to enjoy your vacation. Plus I ran into a light silver week. I dont think it was one of 'those' years but it still ment I couldn't book anything cheap in Tokyo and had to divert to a capsule hotel near a train station outside of the city.
The New Year is a big holiday in Japan and most of the stores will probably be closed even in tourist areas. As someone from a Tropical country, I do not mind the Summer season in Japan but for people from more temperate countries, the humidity will really be exhausting. Thank you for this information
Thank you for watching! Many shops close on January 1st and 2nd. And Japanese summer is really humid, as you know😲 I'm used to it because I grew up here, though. haha. Thank you for watching and sharing again😉
I booked my trip to Japan in late of April to May. Only to find out later that it is golden week and it was too late to cancel my trip now. I keep my finger crossed that I should not suffer too much.
Really great video. To be honest I love visiting Japan in August. There is just so much happening there! So many fireworks festivals, Obon in Kyoto and Nara is just incredible and also I went to small places such as Yabu in Hyogo or Azumino in Nagano or to enjoy local summer matsuri so I 100% recomend. Also the rice padies are just beautiful too. They will turn golden in September so that is very nice time to visit too. I trully recoment to visit every season as each has to offer so much but just be smart and avoid going to the crowded places and visit something more out of the beaten path. For example during the Golden week I do recomend going to Shikoku to the Iia Valey or other place with a gorge as they they would decorate them with the flying colourful fish kites for the children's day. I could go on and on but in a nut shell, all months are great (i didnt like April though as it was mostly raining!) just plan smart and don't stick to the same most popular places and explore beyong that
Thank you for watching! I found another Japan travel master here😉 I grew up near Yabu city in Hyogo, so I'm so surprised you went there...😂 Only a few tourists go there, I'm sure!haha Your advice is also helpful💯
My friends and I looked into this a lot, and talked to many of our Japanese colleagues. We concluded that the best period for travel was mid to late May, and maybe a couple of days in June. September could also work, but May was ideal for us. We had a blast.
Just visited this March from 13th-27th and every tourist location was extremely crowded towards the end of the trip. I'm returning to Japan this May (7th-22nd) to visit the many places I missed.
We travel to japan by first week of august, me and my kids spend my bday there. Way back 2016 i tavel alone to japan for my bday too. I met and visit my nieces in tochigi and nagoya but i stay at hotel in tokyo and osaka
I went to Japan last July of 2019, and it was super hot 🥵 and I’m from the Philippines and I’m used to the humidity, but not like this in Japan. But the reason why I chose July is because its not the peak season for travelers, so everything from flight tickets down to the food is more affordable.
Good tips. My daughter and I are going to Japan at the end of November, beginning of December. We didn't have much of a choice as this is the holiday period here in my country.
I recently did this, 23rd nov to 6 dec. Absolutely perfect timing for the fall colours in the Osaka and Kyoto areas. Kyoto shrines were admittedly fairly busy though.
Golden Week in Japan is also around the same time as Golden Week in China, so you also get the travel peak from two major tourist nations. My brother just landed in Japan today so I see that he has chosen well. In contrast I am going to come in right at Golden Week so RIP to me. Then again this is the only time I get a holiday from my part time university course so it's the sacrifice I have to make.
Phew. I'm arriving on May 8th, right after golden week. Will be staying one month. I was hoping I timed my trip right! I heard Japan is beautiful in May.
I'm coming at the end of October/beginning of November this year, so I'm hoping all is good. I came in August last year, and while i could deal with it being pretty busy, the heat was something else. Never again 😅
I visited in golden week once (not intentionally, I just didn't think to check). It was fine, but more difficult to get reserved seats on the shinkansen.
Well, I'm there over the new year and Xmas period, late December to early January. We'll see how it goes. I usually go in November, still warm but not crazy hot.
grate video I was planing to visit on early October , but no sure where to go I love nature and try to avoid modern city do you have any suggestion which place I should go
Thanks for sharing this video. You were right about the last week of March it was busy lol We just got back and we didn’t see much cherry blossom. Maybe next time. 😀
Thank you for watching and visiting Japan! Yes, it's a bit late to bloom this year, so it will be in full bloom this week 😂 Hope you had a good time here😉
i have visited japan at least a dozen times and... screw all of this. decide on what you want to see and just go for it. i enjoy mountain climbing and hiking so i will definitely visit every year in August. learn to deal with the weather, but prioritize what you like to see/do. if you want to see cherry blossoms, do it. if you want to see autumn leaves, do it. if you want to see snow, do it. don't let the crowd/humidity/temperature/weather deter you from doing what you like.
Ha. I booked my trip last week and it looks like it's right in the middle of Golden Week. I noticed the hotels were a little more expensive but i saved about 40 percent on airfare so I went with it. And strangely enough hotel prices were even higher the second week of May.
I went to Osaka in August last year and got my flight cancelled by a typhoon. Also, the heat was unbearable even for someone who came from a tropical country
I think traveling to Japan during the rainy season is the worst, but October is the best to visit 💯Please tell me your best season to visit Japan here😊

Just curious.. why October compared to November? I will be going this November.
We went in early November and it was perfect Fall weather, with the leaves chanigng colors. ❤ June was too hot for us.
@@hmdao428Yeah I went mid November in 2018 and I liked it. Just was wondering if October is THAT less crowded that it makes it worth it over Nov?
@@JSN723 The autumn leaves would have largely fallen or lost all their beautiful colors by November.

Thank you for watching! Wow can't wait to visit then😉 Have fun!
Thank you for watching and your advice💯
Been 4 times and October was one of the best months
Thank you for watching! October is so comfortable to trip in Japan😉 Agree💯
We're going third week of October, so I hope that will be a good time!
@@JapanwithNao 😂
Have been to Japan twice now. First time was late October which was an awesome time to travel! Temperature was great, rain was usually light and the autumn colours were amazing outside of the cities! Second time was early September, and although I managed I do recommend going later. It was still on the constant hot side with 33-34 degrees Celsius. You can push through it but its just draining of energy when you want to enjoy your vacation. Plus I ran into a light silver week. I dont think it was one of 'those' years but it still ment I couldn't book anything cheap in Tokyo and had to divert to a capsule hotel near a train station outside of the city.
Thank you for watching and your advice😊 So next time coming to Japan could be around spring😘
Thank you for watching! There are many tourists around the time, but you can enjoy Japan😉 Have fun😘
thanks for the video, very informative!
Thank you for watching😊
I found another Japan travel master here😉
I grew up near Yabu city in Hyogo, so I'm so surprised you went there...😂 Only a few tourists go there, I'm sure!haha
Your advice is also helpful💯
I’ll go to Japan on May 10 - 20, 2024 and travel around Tohoku area. Hope that I choose a right time to go there😊
Thanks for your video. It clears my confusion on Silver Week. I will be visiting Japan in mid September. Hope it is not so crowded
Thank you for watching! Have fun Japan😉
I love Japan been there many times ive always go there during february or march or sometimes october
Thank you for watching! Japan travel master here💯 February is a bit cold in my opinion though.haha😂
Thank you for your recommendations.
Thank you for watching!😉
Thank you for sharing your video! Appreciate your information. I have Japanese friends but they didn’t tell me
Thank you for watching😊 They will tell you if you ask may be?haha
@@JapanwithNao oh ya, I ddnt ask 😅😂🤣 ahahahaha
very useful, thank you so much !
Thank you for watching! 😉
My friends and I looked into this a lot, and talked to many of our Japanese colleagues. We concluded that the best period for travel was mid to late May, and maybe a couple of days in June.
September could also work, but May was ideal for us.
We had a blast.
Thank you for watching! Agree! May is also a great time to visit😊
Just visited this March from 13th-27th and every tourist location was extremely crowded towards the end of the trip.
I'm returning to Japan this May (7th-22nd) to visit the many places I missed.
this year i am traveling on the second week of september, im sure ill still have a blast
Thank you for watching! It should be fun! Not hot but not cold so the best time😉
Have fun😘
Thanks for you video.
We are planning to go in Tokyo, Osaka and Okinawa in October.
Hopefully the weather and water temperature will be good 🥰
I went in october and its perfect there. Enjoy!
Thank you for watching! Have fun😊
That is a lot for just 1 month. You could spend all of October in Tokyo and still not see everything.
Loved your video, I’m
Travelling in September I really can’t wait, but I’m Abit nervous what can I expect?
I would actually like to try and visit in January or February, see what skiing in Japan is like.
Thanks for the info! Me and millions of us tourists are coming anyway!
Thank you for watching! Happy to see millions of tourists coming to Japan😊
I am having travel plan to japan from 5 to 10th September. I heard September month have typhoon. Could you please advise on this

Thank you for watching and visiting Japan😉
I just got to Tokyo on April 1st, glad that I came on a great time :D
Thank you for watching! You see Sakura in full bloom then🌸 Have fun!
Interesting! Thank you for the details. 👍🏼
Thank you for watching😊
Very useful and informational video, thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching😊
We travel to japan by first week of august, me and my kids spend my bday there. Way back 2016 i tavel alone to japan for my bday too. I met and visit my nieces in tochigi and nagoya but i stay at hotel in tokyo and osaka
Thank you for watching😊 Hope you have a wonderful birthday again here in Japan🎂
I went to Japan last July of 2019, and it was super hot 🥵 and I’m from the Philippines and I’m used to the humidity, but not like this in Japan. But the reason why I chose July is because its not the peak season for travelers, so everything from flight tickets down to the food is more affordable.
Thank you for watching! Absolutely right💯
I just went from 5th April to 15th April. It was great 🎉
We are going in August for the Awa-odori dance festival! ❤
Thank you for watching! Have fun😉 It's must be a wonderful event😘
Good tips. My daughter and I are going to Japan at the end of November, beginning of December. We didn't have much of a choice as this is the holiday period here in my country.
Thank you for watching! It's already cold around that time so don't forget to bring warm cloths😊 Have fun😘
I recently did this, 23rd nov to 6 dec. Absolutely perfect timing for the fall colours in the Osaka and Kyoto areas. Kyoto shrines were admittedly fairly busy though.
@@JapanwithNao Thank you for the tips . 😊
generally, late march and late november are the best. you get to see cherry blossom and red leaves, even though there are more tourists.
Thank you for watching! Now Sakura is in bloom soon🌸
I hope Sept 9- Oct 1 will be great! I turn 30 in Japan this year 🎉
Thank you for watching! It's a good time to visit😉 Have a wonderful birthday in Japan!
Thank you for watching and your brother visited the best time😊
For you....fingers crossed but you will have a good time in Japan😁 Have fun😘
Phew. I'm arriving on May 8th, right after golden week. Will be staying one month. I was hoping I timed my trip right! I heard Japan is beautiful in May.
Thank you for watching! It's a good time to visit I believe😉 Have fun😘
I'm coming at the end of October/beginning of November this year, so I'm hoping all is good. I came in August last year, and while i could deal with it being pretty busy, the heat was something else. Never again 😅
Thank you for watching and sharing your story😊 Summer in Japan....😂
I visited in golden week once (not intentionally, I just didn't think to check). It was fine, but more difficult to get reserved seats on the shinkansen.
Thank you for watching! Yes it's busy😂
November is my favorite month to visit Japan. I have been to Japan 5 times, 3 were November.
Thank you for watching! Wow November! Autumn leaves may be...?😃
@@JapanwithNao Yes! I love Autumn! 🍂🍂🍂
Well, I'm there over the new year and Xmas period, late December to early January. We'll see how it goes. I usually go in November, still warm but not crazy hot.
grate video I was planing to visit on early October , but no sure where to go I love nature and try to avoid modern city do you have any suggestion which place I should go
It's not a countryside but I like Hiroshima😉 Tohoku area is also good for seeing nature. Thank you for watching😎
Thanks for sharing this video. You were right about the last week of March it was busy lol We just got back and we didn’t see much cherry blossom. Maybe next time. 😀
Thank you for watching and visiting Japan! Yes, it's a bit late to bloom this year, so it will be in full bloom this week 😂 Hope you had a good time here😉
Thank you for sharing, it’s informative. Arigato
Thank you for watching😊 Arigato too!
Good informative, Thanks for sharing. You have gain another subscriber.
Thank you for watching and subscribing😍
LOL heading over in 2 weeks to Japan april 17-may 2nd. so 6 days of golden week.
Thank you for watching! Have fun anyway😉
Oh no! I'm didnt know about this golden week and i am gonna be next week for 14 days in Japan 😅
Just in time 😮
i have visited japan at least a dozen times and... screw all of this. decide on what you want to see and just go for it. i enjoy mountain climbing and hiking so i will definitely visit every year in August. learn to deal with the weather, but prioritize what you like to see/do. if you want to see cherry blossoms, do it. if you want to see autumn leaves, do it. if you want to see snow, do it. don't let the crowd/humidity/temperature/weather deter you from doing what you like.
Thank you for watching! It's another great advice😉 Seeing Sakura during rainy days is also another beauty😊
Ha. I booked my trip last week and it looks like it's right in the middle of Golden Week. I noticed the hotels were a little more expensive but i saved about 40 percent on airfare so I went with it. And strangely enough hotel prices were even higher the second week of May.
Thank you for watching! It's great if you saved your travel budget😍
It's a good idea to book or go earlier since GW is so busy🙌
Have fun😘
I went to Osaka in August last year and got my flight cancelled by a typhoon. Also, the heat was unbearable even for someone who came from a tropical country
