Your driving is amazing Bobby. The new Isuzu DMax is fantastic. Reliable, durable and fuel efficient. I've got an 1996 Isuzu pickup and it just keeps going. Amazing longterm vehicles.
I bought a 3.0 in 2011. Sadly, 21 feb, when my garage caught fire..it got burnt too..total loss. Dmx is very economy n dependable...im planning to get a 1.9 once i rec my ins. Thks for the video.
Many people don't like a diesel engine's note. But I love it. That rough rumble is a superb soundtrack to listen to. When paired with a manual transmission, it will be just fantastic - feeling the midrange torque rush, rowing through the gears, with that rough rumble and turbo whistle playing in the background make driving a diesel manual a great experience.
I had bought the 1.9 Dmax and here's the truth! The power wise for 1.9 is amazing however still missing the punch doesn't feel like the 2.5L power. I put an external gauge for study and i found out the boost constant on part throttle is 1 bar boost and mostly slight power demand will bring the boost to 1.5bar which stays there. The auto transmission is not as smooth as Hilux and you can feel the jerk on start stop. There is no auto cruise on this 1.9 and most of the electronics is very basic. The back door have to close very hard else the door will not shut properly, idling vibrations is not as good as the new hilux as even the compressor on and off you will feel the car like misfiring. Something special i noticed on this car is using the smart regen alternator, it will use the alternator to help braking by giving maximum excitations on the field when braking and you will see the voltage goes to 14.90v. comfort wise i would say not bad but still losses to hilux 2.8 (take note hilux 2.8 is way heavier than dmax so rough road i dunno yet). the headlamp is awesome, it would shine very comfortable at night and it is adjustable height incase u carry heavy load. This 1.9 engine really tough and amazing even when i tried carry very heavy stuff and going up the hill, the car just move without issue, if you have external water temp gauge u will see the temperature will climb till 98c and stop no matter how you abuse. beside from that it had also descend assistant which works quite well maintain at 25kmh down hill.others than that i havent manage to try yet.
Wow.. the dmax does really ride bad for it to be worse than a hilux.
@@bp6837 After using for 5 months I would say ok lah! It had great fuel consumption i must say but powerwise still lose to others. Another thing is soundproof is bad. Offroad wise seems to be great i think because it is light but I found out this 1.9 had no 4wd full lock so im still stuck in the mud. This truck is meant for tough use, no matter how you bash it! it will still works perfectly unlike Hilux Ford or others. This car need to mod a lot for hardcore offroad, I tried standard mod went into the jungle, now my left and right side step are gone lols front fender dented easily. 5 months old car became like 5 years car lols.

@@truckman7123 after using it for 1 year now i would say the handling are neutral for this generations design because we cant compare to the past design as it had so much improvement compare to the last however others competitors also offer quite competitive features and designs as well. I leaned that tyre pressure is very important as it does contribute to comfort and handling as well. Driving 180kmh all the way from KL to Karak without any issue and it handles just like a normal sedan vehicle. But looking forward to robustness I would say Dmax wins all the way. 2 months ago my DMAX is towed to the service center due to I cant access the push start button. No matter how I try to push start it will just kill the ignition switch, because of heavy rain i did not check the fuses. On the next day my car was done, I check with the service center, truthfully it was one of the brake fuse blown due to the DBW controller I fixed in the car got shorted for no reason. Removed the device and I drive till now without having any issue but yet the power is not as good as the 2.5 however for this 1.9L puny engine it does really runs better than those old days engine.
Respect this guys turning man so brave with a pick tricj hahahahaha one think I agree with this guy when it comes to Thailand almost 80% of the citizens use Isuzu dmax, other than that, they even lowered the car and increase the HP and tourgh. In Thailand some even reach there modified dmax power up to 400hp that's crazy

Terrific video - I was wondering what engine for the D-Max we plan on buying in Thailand this year. That's decided for by now, the 1.9l will do perfectly since we don't need to haul trailers. And if the previous model can, with skill, be driven like that why bother with a bigger engine that suffers from milk runs so much more.

Bobby, already sold my car, so don't think can wait until you to review the new Toyota Hilux. Is it OK for me to ask for your opinion? Should I go with Isuzu D-Max with a smaller engine of 1.9L ( also cheaper, but also lower price for second hand value) or the new 2.4L Toyota Hilux? Haven't driven a pick up before. So would appreciate it if you can share with me your experience and knowledge about pick up cars.

yes its worth it. low fuel consumption and low maintenance and durable too. but if it's for comfort, i think the hilux and triton is more comfortable. ranger is most comfortable but the ranger incurs high maintenance costs

I drive up to Cameron from Simpang Pulai every week, I have seen many tourists who think they are fast drivers driving Hondas be it a Hrv , Crv, Accord or even a Civic Fd . No doubt they are fast but most of the times they surely kena tapau by 2 doors white colour Hilux.

@@mahchunteng9434 what suspension does Dmax equipped with? because my hilux 2.5 version la not revo generation, bouncing. I'm preferring revo 2.8 for next car but I'm kinda like this new Dmax since its 1.9 less fuel consumption.
Dmax have a better chassis compared to Hilux but the negative side the engine is underpowered compared to the Ranger and Np300.
@@asyrafebo4609 Dmax equipped with leaf spring setup like most of other pickup trucks. Based on my experience, hilux bounce and firmer ride are due to its oem absorber, which is design for heavy loading and cheap as well. Since you dont seem to use your hilux as a workhorse, change the absorber to a better one such as tough dog, bilstein, profender etc, you will be amazed at how the ride improve. Personally I used the adjustable profender shock, it is cheap and can be adjusted according to my needs. . If you are looking for an upgrade, honestly you cant go wrong with either revo or dmax.

If it's to buy a pickup that i want to use to enjoy and rape mother earth, it will be the Raptor. If to use it for lifestyle, it will be the Triton, if it's to use as a workhorse to go anywhere do anything with it and running costs is a concern, then it will only be Hilux or D-Max.
AND for comfort is Navara

Isuzu had durable engine but Mu X, D Max having old fashion interior, noisy and have worst sale volume in my country - Viet Nam. Families needs 7 seats SUV not for off-road but bad road condition.
