      This process worked for me:
Click 'API explorer' in your project, a new window opens. Open 'Smart Home Management System' > 'Device Management' > 'Get Device Details', fill in the device ID and press 'Submit Request'. You will find your local key in the response window.

Brilliant video - wanting to do this but never knew how. Flashing a hundred devices was never going to happen. Looks like a job for the week-end and it is likely to need heaps of work on the scripts/automations. Many thanks.

Just set up Local Tuya yesterday. It works so much better than the Tuya integration. Couldn't control my rgb bulbs or my fan controls from the tuya integration. With local tuya I can control the rgb bulbs with effects that weren't normally there and all my fans work with the exception when I switch to high my fan turns off. Gotta dig back through the options and figure that out. In my opinion, if you're scared to flash a device then Local Tuya is where it's at. I will be attempting my first wired firmware flash with tasmota this weekend on some treatlife single pull switches. I also have two of them running with Local Tuya so I'll be able to compare.

Unfortunately I can`t really not use Tuya Cloud, aka remove devices internet access and remove them from the cloud. Works for a couple of days but the devices go to a zombie mode. LocalTuya does not fix this, even trying the DP refresh thing (some times the device revive, but some don't). So LocalTuya in the end is not really local, at least using 4.0.

I have my xiaomi system with light level sensor and want to trigger my tuya smart wifi breaker which sits on my LAN, but I can’t find a way to set up conditional logic to switch the tuya based on the lux level measured by the xiaomi sensor. The xiaomi hub integrates with Apple HomeKit, but the tuya doesn’t. Both can be added to Google home, but it lacks the ability to set a rule to trigger one from the other. I have no home assistant, so just need an app which will work. I looked at Yeti app but it seems to be withdrawn.

I have scanned using AngryIP but they do not show. What I like about this solution is that everything (automation) is still visible and working in the Tuya App whereas when zigbee devices are moved to HA the Tuya connection is lost.

I generally like your videos but I feel this one lacks a bit of research... the options you get when integrating a device are the pins for each of the functionalities, in your example, your switch was off at the moment of integrating it, hence the False and the value was coming out of pin 1. Your particular switch didn’t have power monitoring so there are no extra pins where to get the current and consumption from (which are the extra 3 drop downs). Also, the last step is not to add an extra device but to create a new entity from the same device. For instance, a separate sensor for the voltage (although this can also be done with a template in HA).

    • @GeorgeBark

  • @nomukaiki
    @nomukaiki 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

This is now outdated and does not work so straight forward. Tuya has changed their IoT site and now requires the devices to be added directly to a new the development app, (on iOS only available on TestFlight) , rather than scanning the QRCode from within the Tuya/Smart Life app. To make it work you have to pair every device to this new app which disables it from the Tuya/Smart Life app, and that is annoying.

These days I am facing issues with Tuya cloud every 2-3 months they say subscribe and pay this amount to continue using Tuya cloud, as such in every 3 months, I have to setup a new tuya cloud account and do the entire setup in home assistant again, which is very frustrating
So my question is - After connecting using local tuya, even if free tier on tuya cloud ends it would not affect local tuya integration
    Am I right ?

Unfortunately, this solution does not remove the cloud dependency. After registering the device via Local Tuya in HA, I tried to remove it from Smart Life app which also deactivated device in HA. When I did the device registration again (via Smart Life), device received new Device ID as well as new Local Key which were different from the old ones. New registration in HA was needed after that. Means, the device is cloud dependend and can't be isolated to local HA only (or at least I didn't find a way how to make it really just and only local device)

This is correct, however it does continue to work if you pull the internet and it does work a bit faster. I took all my Tuya lights back to the store though and replaced them with Zigbee. I was tired of certain devices losing connectivity with localtuya (despite still working with normal Tuya integration) and it's a pain in the ass to reconfigure them all the time.

Yes, the interface changes and you have to "Buy" the API for free. For your issue is simple, just need to provide your project the authorization.
      1. Go to Cloud (icon) -> API Products -> Subscribed Products
      2. Click Smart Home Devices Management api
      3. Click the Project tab
      4. Click add new authorization and then select your project name

Thx for the great instructions video! However, I noticed my Gosund EP2 (V1.0.4) Smart-Plugs won't update their power/current/voltage values when I prevent them from connecting to the cloud. I can still connect to them with local tuya and switch them on/off, but the power/current/voltage values they report get static as soon as I disable the cloud (block internet access via my router) and stay zero when I power-cycle the plug. As soon as I let them connect to the cloud again, the power/current/voltage values are available again. Anyone else noticed this? That's really a bummer :/
