  • Why are we valuable? How are we intelligent? What constitutes progress for us? And how might we fail to progress?
Having spent the last couple of years traveling around the world discussing these questions with world leaders, Amir joins us once again to provide a global outlook on the urgency and implications of AI, as well as share what he has learned.
    About Amir:
Amir Husain is an award-winning serial entrepreneur and inventor based in Austin, TX. He is the founder and CEO of SparkCognition, a company building artificial intelligence systems to advance the most important interests of our society, and also the CEO of SkyGrid, a SparkCognition and Boeing company focused on building the aerial operation system for next-generation travel and transport. His work has been featured in world-leading outlets such as Foreign Policy, Fox Business News, and Wired.
    Moderated by Jaka Jaksic.

Twice because this is the application that builds the trust, the explainability, the bit of understanding needed among the human population.

    Good talk, very interesting!
My one issue was the rant about "one place where it says what I do" 45:25 made me think he's a little clueless about how these larger systems work. Large systems pass pieces of data on to other services (which in turn use other services), all integrating open source and closed source libraries in them (each getting passed pieces of data).
If he thinks designing a single space where users can control what happens with all data is technically trivial, I would argue its the opposite. He might have an argument it would be a good thing for a small percent of users that care about such things, but technically simple is wrong.

Mr. Husain forgot to mention that China's AI development is a "whole of government" effort with military, academia, research, private sector all working together for a common goal unlike in Western nations where the aforementioned compete for market share, patents, intellectual property, talent, contracts, etc.

I lost his point around minute 38 when he starts to talk about rates of speed and perspectives of ideas, and why the human mind will remain relevant even during the age of a super AI. I didn't read the book, but I would like to understand what he tries to explain there. Anyway that can try to explain it in other words?
