Thank you so much my computer is working and my chest pains have subsided!! I did have to make an adjustment instead of -f /dev/ sda2 my error was on -f /dev/ sda5 . You deserve a medal or something!!! God bless you Sir!!!!

It sometimes works.. It worked when I used it on my desktop computer.. but not on my Raspberry PI.. It might depend on what type of problem it is?? Thanks! Next step it to get a new hard drive.. put Linux on it.. then try to copy you data from the old drive, to the new drive, once it is up and running.. Best of Luck!

Interesting: It happened to my fresh Mint installation on Dual Boot machine after I've installed the Linux Subsystem on Windows 10. I have no idea, why this would affect the separate Linux partition at all. Anyhow after the fix with fsck -f I needed to hold the 'y' key down as it would require confirmation for several hundred fixes after it would successfully finish!

Hello thx it worked im only 13 and I managed to fix it for me I tried using sda1 after because sd2 didnt work for me so I had to use sda1 because I saw that it said sda1 in the command above so yeah thx man u def deserve a sub u earned it man.
It sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't.. I would recommend for the next step.. since you are using linux.. to get a new hard drive..install linux on it.. then use your old hard drive, as a secondary hard to.. and recovery your data that way.. Thanks for the great comments!!
Sir, After after "Linux - Fsck to Repair Filesystem" operation and switch on the laptop. Then I facing many issues likes terminal is open,software update is not open, any python programme is not run etc. Please help I am stuck for long time.
fsck -f /dev/sda2 command won't work. It shows your filesize- according to supeblock is 144784896 blocks and physical size of device is 138240. I tried resize2fs command but it shows command not found. Please help me

Maybe try sda1 instead of sda?? I believe sda1 implies a specific partition, where sda is talking about the drive in general..

What does the computer say after you type that? Is there any error messages?

I don't get that when I do an fsck - nothing happens and it just reloads the initramfs prompt.
